I was bored at work one day, and i was flying my spark above a target. I would slowly descend on people walking. When they noticed i would put the drone in sport mode and fly away. Always had a good laugh with my coworkers while doing it.

I love how at 3:25 he sees the open door out of the corner of his eye as he is recovering from bumping the train while going under and then snaps to it at 3:27, perfectly timed with horn hit in the music. Excellent pilot, excellent music, and an epic flight!

When I first became a long haul truck driver I recognized that bridge and was like “holy sheez, that’s the place from the train drone video!” Now every time I drive through there I still think of this video and watch out for that train bridge.

this was the first time i was shocked, but this would be just a normal crash... but there so many other incidents where it was nearly a total, and and loss of craft (including the recording...)
yup, when he bounced off the rocks right next to the wheels of the train, my immediate thought was; well there goes the whole thing. But expertly saved.
If you go frame by frame you can see that he cuts the top line. Probably a telephone wire.
The whole video was a close call. Good stuff.

Get a small one you can fly indoors. You won't *feel* like you're flying - you *will* be flying. It's tricky, at first. But once you get the hang of it, it becomes something quite easy to do. I have one that I fly in my small apartment. Even while learning, I never broke anything in my place, nor did I hurt myself by bumping into myself when flying. Beats the 'flying dream' by a longshot.
Dunno about dropping the Mike but the thud you hear is my jaw on the floor! That's some serious flying skills there.
It's getting towards two years later and I'm still loving this ..
I just want you to know that I watched this video over 2 years ago now, and it is the reason that I got into FPV. I was at a shooting event with a buddy that brought a dji phantom and he let me fly it. I had started flying it a little to fast for his liking and I told him that I couldn’t see spending the money for something that went so slow. So he told me to check out some stuff on TH-cam and this was the video I found.
It then became my sole focus to research the hobby and spending an inordinate amount of time away from my family while researching how to solder, flying simulators, flying micros, upgrading to higher RPM brushed motors, trimming off the weight, stepping up to bigger quads, all the while dumping more and more and more and more money into this god-forsaken endeavor.
I’ve spoke to my lawyer and he’s confirmed that there is a legitimate case against you that would find you culpable for, not only my “investment” into the hobby, but also, the emotional damage caused to my children for you estranging (can I make that word into a verb?) their father from them, and even my alimony!
(Please find the fact that I’m not actually divorced, and that I’ve liked and stayed subscribed as evidence to my sarcasm)
I’ve decided to take the high road and not drag you through courts and instead I’ll just be sending you my patreon (this doesn’t exist) and I’ll allow you to “do what’s right!”

The first fpv video I ever watched I stumbled upon by accident one evening while sitting up at our local off-road RC track. I watched it then watched a 2nd time with my son and immediately after I said "oh yeah we are doing this" I then ordered an eachine wizard and had it over nighted to us. Maiden flight was in acro and no goggles. Needless to say a minute and a half in we never saw it again. Searched for hours with no luck.
First fpv video I had ever seen. Its the reason I've spent countless amounts of money on replacing parts and frames but with they pay off of the most enjoyable hobby my son and I have invested in. He's about to be 17 yrs old and still flies with me 3 to 4 days a week. I would have to say that it is the single most reason we have stayed as close as we are thru his teenage years. I'm just starting out in fpv, coming from DJI flying camera background, so I've been watching people like Steele, rotor riot guys, flight test, etc. This is by far the best freestyle I have seen on freakin you tube, not just the acrobatics but i really like the precision. man you are the best, and yes i heave subscribed and looking forward to all future videos

Man this video NEVER gets old man.. honestly i think this is a progression in freestyle flying. When i was younger it was all about big mountain skiing and snowboarding and I remember how those sports progressed as people risked more and more. @@nejc3 These trains have assigned crews and it wouldn't be too hard for the railroad to figure out who was flying the drone, especially since the very talented drone flyer identified himself at the end of the video. Again, railroads do not take kindly to this type of "trespassing" on railroad property anymore. If the drone had never flown up beside the cab, the crew would have never known this ever happened. With things the way they are today, why would someone want to possibly get themselves into legal hot water ??

Right? It’s like what does the FAA think is gonna happen to the train. He could also technically have clearance to do so, like a waiver.
@@conureking7748 If he had a waiver, it would've been through the FAA. And it's probably because the train driver complained, they're really not on people's cases a ton (for now). But I agree, the 500 gram drone isnt gonna do harm to the 500 ton train.
But I wonder if that has to be enforced in person. Like how a cop has to see a person speeding to give them a ticket. They can't issue tickets just from seeing people driving fast in videos. Besides, it's now so easy to fake things in video, you could just say that landing on a train was all CGI.
@@4seeableTV This was an interesting point so I did some further research. I'm not sure about Nurks case here specifically but it is considered a criminal offense and thus the FAA has to provide evidence if the choose to fine or charge you. I don't think the CGI thing would hold up in court at all but you could make a pretty compelling case that they had no evidence it was Nurk flying.
@@4seeableTV Furthermore, cops absolutely can issue a speeding citation just on video evidence. They have to conclusively be able to say the exact speed, person driving, location, vehicle used, etc. To do all that is just too much of a pain in the ass a lot of the time for a $200 speeding fine (almost like it's not about justice at all, huh?). If they couldn't issue citations based on photographic & video evidence red light cameras wouldn't be allowed.

What's the risk there? losing his quad? That's only like a grand of equipment, nothing compared to the tens of thousands of dollars he had to pay in fines.
I didn't read all the comments but the danger to the train and likely coming further restrictions on drones won't be because of how you can use a drone to video a train. It will be for all the other possible nefarious usages a drone could be used as an attack vector on a train or it's cargo. Simple really.

So here's the problem with weaponizing drones. Something that light can't have a firearm on it, the kick back would make it far too inaccurate or unreliable. You could strap explosives to it sure, if you want to worry about weight and what not. Of course if you are going through the trouble to attack a train with explosives, you could just as easily plant some on the tracks. I can see the issue with around vehicles where they can swerve and easily adjust speed, but on a train, stuck on tracks, what damage could a drone possible do? And before you say. "Well it could cause harm to the crew." All you gotta do... is shut the windows... Like the guy does in the video.
This guy is the TRUTH when it comes to flying. What drone were you flying?

What about evil plans with explosives on a drone? Is that not a frightening possibility? Or fly into the cabin and incapacitate the driver somehow: Gas spray or something? That is what would cause concern...
And I assure you there are people in Law Enforcement PAID to think like that...
you would not need a drone to do that. just because you can use something for a terrorist attack, does not mean its the main purpose of this thing. eg kitchen knives can equally well cut people as they can cut carrots.

That is the stupidest argument I've heard. Yes, there should be regulation, but saying something is dangerous because you COULD make it lethal. Besides, it requires a fair amount of knowledge to build something like this, so a terrorist (of whom there are so many of) would probably use a different method. Here's an easier one, destroy the rails, I'm sure it's easier than getting all the equipment needed for a quadcopter, learn how to build it, learn how to fly it so you don't crash it before even reaching the train, and then managing to blow it up near the train (with a bomb they would need to obtain, or make (in that case they could probably build a drone with little issue, but again, much easier to blow the rails than blow the train)). Long comment, you get the point.
