How To Make Water Kefir

Great video! I’ve got some grains on the way 🙂 so after 24 hours the water should be ready, then is the time to add fruit or fruits juice and leave another 24 hours to get fizzy? I’m I understand it correctly? Sorry if this is an obvious question 😬 I’m new to the fermentation world

Hi Clare, just add the fruits once you have strained and bottled the water kefir, after the initial 24 to 48 hours.
Just keep the grains with just the water and sugar. 😁

This is a great videom but realise that I am trying to cut down on the sugar as that amount of sugar seems alot. Is that where i am going wrong and I use organic cane sugar??

The sugar is food for the kefir grains so the finished drink doesn't contain loads of sugar, the kefir grains metabolise it. You can use organic cane sugar. In what way are you going wrong?

Does the water need to be treated or is tap water ok

Tap water contains chlorine which can damage the grains over time. Just leave the tap water in a jug overnight and the chlorine will evaporate off.
