I think you should dip the very bottom in first and let it bleach, then dip in farther up so it will have a more gradual transition. Looks like fun project!
OMG your daughter is STUNNING and WOW on those shirts they came out better than I thougt they would ..only because of the time ...that was quick but I love your daughters favorite the best but you did a great job on them all ...Looking forward to tomorrow Thanks Sonnet ..Traci
What a fun idea! Good job, the shirts are super cute. They would make great gifts for teen girls to exchange or have a party and let them do their own!
My husband steals my upcycling shirts too! This is a really fun craft. Try dipping the bottom first then once it begins to change (can tell best by the color left in the bleach), then slowly put more of the shirt into the bleach solution so the upper sections get less bleach. It's very hard to see the color change till the shirt comes out of the wash. You can tell by the dye residue in the bleach basin. You can also use a spray bottle to do this technique. Put your shirt on a metal hanger out on the clothesline. Spritz the shirt more at the bottom, gradually lessen the spritzing as you move up.
The shirts turned out awesome! Especially for your first try. I'm going to have to be brave like you and give it a shot. I think bringing some of these shirts to cranberry fest is a GENIUS IDEA!!
Sonnet, your daughter is just as pretty as her mom! Am undecided about the experiment, might try one of my old ones, but I think I will leave my Woolrich as it is, since I kinda like it like that, but it sure was interesting. Thanks for sharing this with us, hadn’t even heard about this. This is just so much fun, following you day-by-day! Enjoying!
I first saw these in June at the Ashland Strawberry Faire I was doing from another vendor. They were so cute! They turned out great. They look wonderful on YOUR “Mini Me”
They turned out awesome! My favorite is the last one, top is red and bottom is pink! Love this idea I'm definitely going to try it! Thanks for showing us how! 🥰
I think I liked the Walmart shirt the best. I'm sure the fun is . seeing the change. I definitely want to give them a try! Got home at 4 am from visiting friends so my 10 and 11 will be on the same day! Very heavy ground fog with terrible visibilty!
Great video! I never bleach dyed a flannel before but I am experienced with making shirts. I would dip the bleached parts of the flannel into a hydrogen peroxide and water mix so the bleach doesn’t eat through the fabric. I would also dip the shirts into the bleach bucket while on a hanger so you can control the dip better. I’m watched your video before I make a Philadelphia Phillies flannel with details I have with leftover Cricut heat transfer vinyl😁
Thanks for sharing. I think I will try submerging just the bottoms for a bit, then keep going upward toward to top, a little at a time, to get the pronounced ombré effect. I like when the horizontal line is jagged and love the tiny splatters. Great job
Wow Sonnet I think you did an amazing job on these shirts its awesome seeing how they transpire into the faded colors I think your daughter was also please with the results she looked great modeling them. So creative and rewarding project for your wardrode. Thanks For Sharing!
So super cool‼️ I have never seen the ombre effect done before but I did watch Sammie from Unicorn Dust Designs bleach a few. She put stencils on the back of hers I think she used regular stencils and stencils made with vinyl from her Cricut. I loved how hers came out too. When I watched her video, it was the first time ever seeing it done before so I fell in love instantly and I wanted one bad. Normally I would do them myself but playing with bleach while going through treatment, probably not a smart thing to do, lol 😆 I ended up buying one off of Sammie and as soon as I got it, I started wearing it on treatment days (still do) and everyone in the center loves the flannel so much 😍 Hopefully some day, I'll be able to give it a try myself. I now need an ombre one 🤣 Thank you so much for sharing this with us, Sonnet ❣️ And by the way... your daughter is absolutely gorgeous 😍❤️ Liked ✔️ Commented ✔️ Shared ✔️
These shirts are so cool. Like how they turned out. This would be a good flip for resale. I would definitely try to get a few listed on your site. Something that is easily done that isn't labor intensive. Can be done while doing something else.
This is a cool way to save a shirt we might think was ruined. Interesting concept. You have a very pretty daughter. I can't wait to see how you decorate your house.
Loved seeing this new technique. Last year I bleached sweatshirts with the stars by twisting and knotting with rubberbands. This ombre came out cool. Your daughter is a fabulous model :)
I love entertainment that becomes a learning opportunity. You totally made that look easy. And I also enjoyed a litt!e departure from decor to clothing. Thank you 😉
Awe, your daughter is beautiful

Yes. I think that would work better. I’m going to find thrift flannels and do some for camping.
