My Mom was a costume designer for stage. Boy can that woman sew anything in a blink of an eye. And always gorgeous. My granddaughter got that gene from her. She is like you. She is like you....loves her flannel and sweatshirts. She also will flip the thrift store finds into a piece of art to wear. She will love this series on flipping clothing. I loved all of them. Great ideas.
Oh amazing! yes I worked on Broadway for a little bit before switching over to film/tv. I loved doing costumes for stage! and that's amazing if she has any ideas for me for the series send them my way haha! Thank so much for watching and for all the support!
Great ideas. Looks entirely doable. I have too many shirts so i can halve the number by doing this. Well, i probably won't do that many. But once or two. Thanks!
FIRST!!! 2 minutes after posting. BOOM!! I could not click quick enough!! Thank you Mailey x. I didn't know you were a costume designer, I knew you were a makeup artist and you are a fantastic artist. I love the new neck/video/recorder, but what I was in awe of was that giant pumpkin pin cushion!! HA HA!! That is a crazy size. Love the ideas, I don't own any checked shirts, although I am from Scotland. No tartan or plaid here. I love the Wisconsin one the best x x x x
I was haha that was my past life career and what I went to school for. and that pumpkin pin cushion I made in one of my first TH-cam videos for fall decor. Now I use it as the ultimate pin cushion haha. and no plaid isn't that against the law in Scotland 😂😂😂
Great flips! I will thrift through my wardrobe and definitely copy some😊 Please continue these flips. I love sewing and I am always on a hunt for new ideas . And I an also looking forward to your furniture flipping series.
Oh yeah if you love to sew these are such fun and easy little projects. They also don't take to long and it gives a fun custom look to some old things from you closet. I'm so excited for the first flip in the furniture series I just picked up the piece last week. Thanks so much for watching!
Hi Mailey keep doing videos and do vlogs. I loved the first one you are wearing. I started watching the furniture flipping videos to learn. I find myself youtube videos more entertaining than tv and movies.
Such cute and clever ideas. Look forward to seeing what else you come up with. I can sew but it's been home decor. I used to make some of my clothes but always struggled with fit. I had so much fabric! I have a Singer, too. So did my mom. She sewed a lot of our clothes when we were growing up (4 girls). Her machine was older than me and I'm 67. I've done some furniture flips for myself (china cabinet, end tables, and a nightstand). Have a dresser and nightstand in the garage. The dresser has been there for years because it needs new drawer runners and I don't know how to do that. They are Henry Link Bali Hai. Anyway, Mailey, I'll be here watching as always.
I've also fallen more into the home decor sewing. Thrift store makeover project are perfect because you can just do alteration and you don't need to make something from scratch. That amazing those old singer machines were a force. Sewing machine today aren't made the same! and amazing I could incorporate how to switch out drawer runners in one of my furniture flips. It's a lot easier then you think! thanks so much for watching!
Love everything you do, The Christmas series was a lovely gift for all of us. Looking forward to your husband showing you how to cook. You are both talented and have so much confidence. Inspirational and entertaining. ❤
Oh wow thanks so much! I'm so glad you loved the Christmas videos I had a ton of fun making all of them for you. Haha I'm also excited to learn how to cook and bake! thanks so much for watching and for the support! 🥰
Those sleeves on the first flannel were so good with the elbow patches, make sure you keep those! This is such a great idea, because I love the look of flannels but LOATHE the collars lol
Oh I definitely saved that flannel top and all the scraps. I'm thinking of doing a reverse of the first DIY with the flannel top and sweatshirt bottom. And thank you so much these are perfect for you since it keeps the coziness of the flannel without the collar. 🥰🥰🥰 thanks so much for watching!
This was Sew Fun! Super excited for all the new series. I'm most interested in the furniture flips. It's always inspiring to see what the thrift gods give you to work with. A Dupe challenge ( get the look for less) can be profitable. As well as unconventional items turned functional furniture is so interesting to see your creativity in motion. I'm always down for some trash to treasure, saving useful items from the landfills. Nice work here😻
Oh I see what you did there very punny! 😂 and oh yeah I love a good dupe. I'm hoping I can find a good second hand piece I can do a duped look for. and yes I love the sustainable DIYs they look great, help the planet and help your wallet! Thanks so much for watching!
Great ideas! I love these. I wish I knew how to sew. I have a sewing machine but have no idea how to use it. I would love to see more sewing videos if you don't mind. T-shirt revamps. I want to change out the sleeves of a normal t-shirt and make it puff sleeves for a girly look. All the series ideas sound interesting. Cooking is gonna be fun heheh!
Oh I love a good puff sleeve! I'll add that idea to the next thrift store makeover video. and a straight sewing tutorial and how to use a sewing machine is on the list for my guide to DIYing video. Cooking is going to be fun... you know I'll be up to my same old shenanigans with my husband haha! 😂
Love the new series Mailey!!! Again, I love how you have both the talent for creating AND the talent for teaching! Very beginner friendly! (I also love how you don’t edit out anything falling or the “non-perfect” moments! It’s so encouraging that you show that you are a normal person and though you make “Pinterest-worthy” items, you are an authentic person not just “Pinterest-perfect”) All the new series sound awesome! I loved the video of you and your hubby in the kitchen and though I know that will take more work and scheduling time since you both work full time, I think that is something we don’t see a lot - couples working together, be it baking or whatever. ❤️
Oh thank you soooo much! Ever time I sit down and start filming I always get so nervous that I don't make ant sense. I really want you to learn and be entertained so it hard to know what speed up and what to take slow and really show what I am doing. I'm very excited to bring him back on the channel it's going to be so much fun cooking and baking with him. Thanks so much for watching!
Hi Mailey, I never write a comment on anyone's video but I sincerely hope that your channel sees a huge growth! I watched all your videos in december and enjoyed all your facets. You did hair and makeup fo brides, maybe that could also be a tutorial or a series. Or you could test some brands or tiktokers products. That could be a push for your channel and once people get to know you, they'll be hooked! I learned so much with you. Your DIYs seem "easy" to follow and feasible for a beginner like me. Thank you 😊
Oh thank you so much for leaving a comment it really helps with the growth and the algorithm. Thank so much for watching all my Craftmas videos I had so much fun making them for you. That's a great idea I've definitely been exploring bringing a little hair and makeup to the channel. Thank so much for watching and all the support it really means sooo much! 🥰
Love this video!!! Never thought of doing this!! I hope your channel grows. I'm baffled why you don't get more traffic. Love, love your videos, I've watched since your beginning!
Since you say you have a backgrounded in sewing you’re probably aware of this, but you could have pulled the sweatshirt to match the flannel as you went along the edges, and it would have ruffled the flannel to give a little floof at the bottom. I like what you did, but what I was looking for was the little floofiness. Maybe sometime you could try them and see how it looks.
I would love to know: how to cut a precise line on wood . I do own two circular saws, but when you have to use a straight line and clamp something to the wood, you have to calculate that into the cut and I aways get it WRONG!! I have thought about making a jig (that you see on other channels) to make a straight line. whether with a circular saw or jig saw, Something that your saw fits into, then you use both together to cut the wood. ( I hope I am explaining this properly???)🤪
Recovering from knee replacement surgery and stumbled on to your thrifty. Love them! just was wondering what sizes you use for the Hilfiger tee/ plaid shirt vertical combo. How do you know what sizes to use?
Okay, so for off, long your video miss ma’am, second I’m wanting to do the one you did (Columbia university) hoodie flannel, but the hoodie i have has a pocket in the front and i don’t want it cropped 😆 so how would i do that with the pocket still there. Thanks in advance
Hey I would just seam rip off the band. Then cut the sweatshirt outside the pocket. Then do the sewing just like I did and then put the band back on. Hope this helps! 🥰
i loved this tutorial. can’t sew worth of beans but it was fun to watch. are you able to do a reverse sew of the center of the flannel shirts to the sleeves of the sweatshirts? is that possible? as i said, i can’t sew. just asking for curiosity sake. and did i miss where you got the flannel shirts? maybe i’ll try this with the iron on tape, lol. i watch everything you do so i’m good with anything you decide you want to put out into the youtube universe. looking forward to watching you learn how to cook from your husband. my husband taught me to cook, as well. many, many, many years ago. still hate doing it.
I love your "The King Is Coming" hoodie!! Jesus is so good to us!! Btw you're so pretty!! 💕
Aww thank you so much! and yes he is! I couldn't believe I found that hoodie at the Thrift store I had to get it!
So glad to see a new video! Love The King is Coming shirt!
Thank you so much! I love that shirt as well... haha I should have save that diy for the video instead of a practice round haha.

I love your ideas simple and creative. You look so good in them. Thank you. I have been designing my own old clothes with crazy quilting and neckties.
Oh wow that's awesome! I'm so glad you like these ideas. They were super fun and fairly easy to do... also cheap haha cheap is nice! 🥰

@@MaileyElaine Your Welcome!
This was so cute! Once I learn how to use my passed down from the family late 1940s sewing machine I will try some of these.
Oh that’s amazing old sewing machine were built soo nicely! You got this once you can sew a straight line you’ll be good to go for these projects
I love it all!!
Thank you so much!

Thanks!
Thank you so much! 🥰
Also I’d love to see a tutorial on the flannel/sweatshirt you were wearing, the brown with the flannel sleeves. Please and thank you
I can definitely add that to my list for the next thrift store makeover video! 🥰
Let's learn how to use the basic power tools mostly all the saws/cutting tools.
Shared on Facebook.
perfect that what I was thinking I would do for the first video was a guide to tools! 🥰
Since you say you have a backgrounded in sewing you’re probably aware of this, but you could have pulled the sweatshirt to match the flannel as you went along the edges, and it would have ruffled the flannel to give a little floof at the bottom. Yeah I did a test run before filming and tried a few different techniques I unlimitedly like the look of the way I did it.
#SuperDope! ☺️ I love it! If you ever make your own merch!
Merch is totally something I would love to do one day! I'l definitely get there!
This was a very cool video!
Thank you so much! 🥰
I will watch whatever you put out! Please teach me how to lay a vinyl floor. Still not clear on the process.
I can do that! It's really not hard I was also super intimidated before I did it!

Recovering from knee replacement surgery and stumbled on to your thrifty. Love them! just was wondering what sizes you use for the Hilfiger tee/ plaid shirt vertical combo. How do you know what sizes to use?
I just use sizes that fit me both the flannel and T-shirt are mediums. Hopefully this helps!
Cool ❤
Thank you!
Hey, can you do an overcast stitch, or a zig zag stitch instead of a straight stitch ? I feel like the zigzag stitch would hold on better
Yes you can! I just did a straight stitch to keep it begin friendly and not scare off the new sewers haha.
It wood be fun if you took the big pocket off the hoodie in the first project and sewed it back on at the end over the flannel
I’ve seen that in a few other thrift flip I love that idea. I’m saving the pocket for another flip I have in mind. 🥰🥰🥰
😊
Thanks for watching!
