Yeah it’s heavily implied that drago took some kind of performance enhancing drugs. There’s a scene of him getting a needle in his shoulder. Even if he isn’t on steroids or other PED’s his genetics 🧬 already give him a huge advantage. Genetics are a huge factor in sports but it’s not what ppl wanna hear. They wanna hear that anybody can do it. This fight tells a good story tho

One thing I really like about this is how differently the fight starts out. Drago just played with Apollo. He goes immediately straight at Rocky. Drago was no fool. Despite his arrogance, knew fighting Rocky wasn't going to be like Apollo..
He went after Rocky outt the gate to embarress him. But Rocky eats punches
Because beating Rocky meant way more. Rocky is the recognized undisputed champ. Apollo came out of retirement to fight and the fight was only supposed to be an exhibition. Defeating Rocky would've had more legitimacy and bragging rights

Drago did not kill Rocky because he wanted to prove he was the better boxer. That’s why his trainers were mad that he did not deliver kill shots. By that time, he was cut and Rocky put the fear in Drago. In addition, I believe Drago was not trained for Endurance Boxing but for Knockout Power in 3 rounds or less.

Have to say stallone gives an outstanding performance. All his movies are top notch for me. He's a legend. One of the best actors. Gives 120 per cent to all his movies. Thank you stallone for giving me years of enjoyment, from Rocky to Rambo, The Specialist, Cobra, Tango and Cash, the list goes on and on. Top class.

Knowing the real strengh of Dolph Lundgren (Ivan Drago) Stallone woldn't have last 10 seconds against Lundgren
Stallone decided that for the shooting of the fight, he and Dolph Lundgren should hit one another for real for 15 seconds to increase the intensity of the scene. Stallone ended up flown on a low-altitude flight to the hospital and remained in intensive care for 4 days. Lundgren had punched him so hard in the chest, Stallone's heart had slammed up against his breastbone. The doctors didn't believe it had happened while filming, they thought he had been in a car crash and took a steering column to the chest. That's how legit strong and terrifying Drago (Lundgren) was!
