    I think they’ve lost the plot if they really think it needs to take 20 years to create a remake. It does not have do look like VII. “Scale down the scope” is precisely what they should do.

      6 is a much bigger and more dense game than 7. A simple remake won't do it justice. They would have to do what the original didn't. Fleshing out more of the cast, adding content to the world of ruin and so on. A simple 3d remake like with 4 wouldn't do the game any favors.

      Because FF7 remake's development started and was leaked in 2007 ,6, and 8. And it took them also nearly 20 years for Remake to be released in 2020 after all the promotional teaser trailers of FF7 Remake in 2014.
      Which btw, Midgar in the entire FF7 remake's content was just the first quarter of the OG7.

    I don't see how another company can come-up with a brand new story, character designs, world design, etc etc. and release a brand new game within a few years, but Square-Enix are incapable of apparently making a game where half the pre-development work is done in a reasonable time-frame? This is more of an indictment of Square-Enix's poor management, rather than an accurate portrayal of how long it would take to make such a game.

    Guess I know what YT series I'll be binging today... a nice balanced take, not everything needs to be AAA. With FF VII I get it, that game was quite literally sold on its cinematic scope, but arguably the crowd that would be hungry for more FF VI content is more retro leaning, so if anything, would be more receptive to a more traditional take.

  • @JPG.01
    @JPG.01 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Yes remaking FF6 would be a close to impossible task. As a remake would have to do what the original didn't and where it fell short. Apart from 5 or 6 characters this ensemble cast of 10+ needs some fleshing out. As the maker's intention back in the day was to create a game that has no "single main character" because every single member of the playable cast is the main character.
    The world of ruin would need more content as well.
    A traditional JRPG might be able to handle that, but Squenix have said that they want to take a more action heavy route for a while. So expect more 16 and 7R and less of what we have seen before.

    • @thenonexistinghero
      @thenonexistinghero 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Use some common sense. A remake doesn't need to expand on the original in every single way. They can just take the original and add some depth here & there. Also overhaul the gameplay to modernize it while still keeping it very similar to the original. That's all people need out of a remake, they don't need it to be a f***ing 20+ year overly ambitious project that won't deliver and is absolutely nothing like the original.

    This is sad Sqaure has no problem taking FF7 and spilting it into 3 games. They went above and beyond for that game. Which I love and hate it. I hate that it will take 12 years and 210 dollars for the complete experience. I do love the games as a cinematic experience. Im mixed with the story being all over the place. I think they could have tone down the graphics and just focused on the original story or just did someone completely brand new. But it's so much back and forth. I wish they would have just made a complete game instead of dividing it up.
    It's sad that Sqaure Enix wont probably wont do a amazing remake. They will milk FF7 to death before renaking 6 or any other game. They did remake the first game into stranger Paradise game. Maybe 9 will get remake. Im just tired of FF7 getting all the love.
    Also turn base is not dead. We still have pokemon which sells billions of dollars. Also in FF7R dont you only control one character while the other ones are either not doing anything or letting AI do all the work?

    In other words, if they can't get the extra profits from luring in the button mashers, its not worth it.
    Way to throw your traditional fans under the bus, Square Enix.
    I hear people falsely claim all the time that "Final Fantasy 7 is what made the series popular". This is BS. There were already HORDES of popular RPGs and JRPGs, including FF4 and 6, Chrono Trigger, Shining Force, and Phantasy Star to name just a couple. But there was more of a "divide" where action gamers wouldnt touch RPGs and vice versa. But both groups were HUGE. Just separate. What FF 7 did, was brought the two together, adding in action-like features in its mini-games, hooking them with story and cinematics and the tried and true ATB system, while keeping traditional fans happy.
    But there were always about 20 percent more people in the crowd that liked action games. something like 120K action fans for every 100K Turn based fans. I know, because I was around in the late 80s-on and into the RPG genre even then. Square USED to boast that they did what they did for the vision, and for the fans, but after some bad decisions (Ironically an action game named dirge of cerberus and a terrible movie called spirits within) they got into financial trouble. Enix also had released some (non RPG) major flops, and both were financially in dire straights, so they merged. But this experience seems to have put the fear of poverty into them or something. Because despite people TO THIS DAY near universally claiming the first 10 FF games were the best and its not even close, they seem scared to do traditional games and investing heady into them (Sure, they will do them in pixel form, but spending real money and investing in a "modern" look and context? Nope. Atlus has, and has pretty much dethroned Square as Kings of the JRPG developers. FF 7 remake and rebirth are no exception. While they "baited" traditional fans with promises of a "classic" mode (that was anything but) they are counting on nostalgia to be the glue that holds these action versions together.
    Thats the backdrop they will NEVER admit openly, and yet even now, actions speak louder than words. And its the reason we will probably NEVER see any of the classics such as 1 through 6 remade, and if 10 gets a remake or a sequal it will be yet another action version riding the nostalgia coat tails.
    Sad. But like most successful artists, after a taste of success profits come before creativity and vision.

    what an embarrassing statement, even with combat similar to FF7 remake it should not significantly extend the development time, id argue combat is a rather insignificant development process. They literally have Dissidia FF games with a much larger cast and diverse action combat, id argue fighting game combat systems are much more sensitive to balance and diversity requirements. It would only take 20 years because SE has become an incredibly slow and unorganized company. I get 5 trails games for every 1 final fantasy, nobody asked for this action combat experiment, it was forced down the fans throats.

But i swear if they think we want their uncanny ultra realistic model and gun shoot flip gamer action TRPG they have no idea what they think we want. They don't NEED to make it ultra realistic. Keep it turn based with nice animations and FX; mo cap the cutscenes with actors! They don't need to spend maximum time on all environments for maximum detail, compromise and just work smart. They REALLY need to publish their what their plans would be, i am really afraid they think they need to take it to FF7 levels. They really don't, honestly if it turned into the action turn based i would not play it ever, not my thing.
