I believe it’s a money thing. Companies do these things all the time. Why pay someone with experience more when you can hire someone new for less? Let’s be real, the Mario voice is not a difficult one to do, so finding someone that can do it for less wouldn’t be hard. It’s a business decision.

0:57 - I know I'm late with this but YES!!! FINALLY!! SOMEONE that actually knows it like it is there!! I'm a console gamer that's been saying this for MONTHS now and ranted and vented about the issue of exclusive titles not being legit exclusives by putting them in their competition's systems and on PC on Reddit before I was silenced and banned from it twice now. And people kept on defending this like I'M the crazy one for still going against this push! I'm one that's had many platforms from the the companies but I'm one that believes in the exclusives actually giving value and PURPOSE to these systems and why they had to be owned! It's why the Switch had been doing so dang well over the past eight years amongst other things hey these fools consider it tribalism and all that BS! All that and more just adds up to the need to want to go back to the days when exclusives truly mattered to these two companies and weren't so reliant in subscriptions.

Another aspect to this is not all games that had pixel art were even played on a CRT. Just think of the GBA where there there wasn’t the blending but it was just the pixels.

Nintendos gimmick should not be packed in with the console. They should attach to the switch or be sold separately. Then they can make as many as they want and if it fails it's not gonna fail the whole generation...

The only theory that I can really come up with that wasn’t covered in this video is that he can still do the voice but it takes a few more tries than he used to because obviously we don’t see every take of each voice line so maybe it just takes a little bit longer to get the right voice line which is still a weird reason for firing him but that’s about the only reason I could think of

im sure other people have already said it much better, but i dont buy the age reasoning. charlies is only 68; as someone who worked in a nursing home, that is FAR from properly "old". our only less than 80 year old residents were experiencing unrelated severe health issues like diabetes, not any sort of age related deteriorations. at that, charles is CLEARLY healthy and "all there", so to speak. his voice is still just as good as ever, he's still functional and mobile, able to take care of himself, etc etc etc, and he's not experiencing any sort of age-related MENTAL deteriorations, either. i don't know how nintendo thinks, and of course this comment is from an american with no understanding of Japanese work culture, but they would be insane to let a healthy, functional, talented, and EAGER 68 year old go on the basis of "age". also theres absolutely no way he retired either. he said it himself, obviously, but look at the man.

I'm of the mindset that Charles was a victim of Japanese corporate culture. They typically don't fire employees unless it's something heinous or illegal, rather affected employees are assigned to less desirable roles with the thought that the employee will eventually walk away on their own due to boredom or depression. I doubt we'll ever get the full story as Charles is most likely gagged via an NDA, although I think the truth will eventually leak out. Charles himself seems very ethical and loyal, so his story is unlikely to be told by him in his own words any time soon.

Wouldn't surprise me one bit if nintendo sacked him because they think thet can get his voice for cheaper or free .. a.i .. But it all did coincide with the movie so I imagine that they didn't want to use Charles but didn't also want to have a disparity between the games and the movie however ... it's not like the voice actor for the movie will also voice the games soo ... idk Also,while Charles could have voiced the movie,he is older now,what about the second,third and possibly fourth movie ? .. a jarring voice change later in down the line wouldn't be very good and far more noticeable than in game voice overs One thing I would suspect is that nintendo are trying to steer away from stereotypes (Italian) voice and Charles Mario voice is very very over the top Italian yet ... they replaced him with a younger voice actor that is trying to copy Charles right down soo ..at this rate,I have no idea,maybe they think his voice is old and Mario's voice needs to remain young ? Yet,if this is a decision from nintendo japan,I think they would be one of the worst to make the decision as put simply,they are not American or Italian and wouldn't be the best choice to ask make the decision purely down to geographic What I do know is,nintendo are soulless cheapskates,and being a (company) man for nintendo of old,the very honorable tradition of the Japanese seems to be sliding as of late

I feel like the whole uproar about Charles Martinet not being Mario in the movie kinda upset Nintendo and made them want to distance Martinet from the character. Nintendo didn't like the backlash they got from this decision so they decided to let him go. This way they can get someone else and this time not put a focus on who's voicing the character because they are not important... Mario is.

My wild theory is that the gimmick/focus for the console will be its modular nature. The top and bottom usb-c ports plus magnetic sides could be used to attach an additional console, screen accessory, controller variant, and various 1st and 3rd party peripherals. That TH-cam survey back in March that listed the "Switch Attach" as an option for consoles the surveyee would be interested in buying may have legitimately leaked the console name all along.

When they added this to the All-Stars collection I really really really wish that they would've found a way to remove the reliance upon motion controls. It makes the game inaccessible to some.

I feel like other than cosmetically (comfort in the hands)... Nintendo switch is the perfect system for the perfect time. Why ruin that formula...more powerful perfect system for the perfect time.

I've come to expect wacky new hardware with a gimmick. Sure they're not always great (motion control) but sometimes they're awesome (dockable handheld). I'm not sure how I feel about more if the same for an entire new generation. For better or worse, Nintendo have trained me to appreciate their blue ocean strategy.

I’m one of those Switch players that never plays in handheld mode. My Switch has been in the dock since 2017. So I do hope it can be a little closer to a next gen graphics home console. Games like Pokémon Scarlett/Violet running and looking like 💩 was really disappointing for me. (I know that wasn’t directly Nintendos fault)

I wonder if it will be called Switch 2.

An Astro Bot-like platformer but with Nintendo characters would be awesome.

One thing I wish for (but will never happen) is 3D mode on handheld. Playing the 3DS still feels magical, would love that again.

If they get the stream of great games going on, the switch 2 will be something to look forward to!

i would LOVE a massive crossover game/series like smash but a different genre, but i think it would be better if it was called something else and we get a smash bros game along side it

Using Pokemon Scarlet & Violet as a prime example doesn't help as it's more of an isolated thing for Game Freak Switch games IMO - another Pokemon game called Pokemon Snap looks gorgeous in 60fps with barely any pop in and was made by Bandai Namco.

I hope there's a smaller model. I don't want a bigger Switch.

It would be really cool if Nintendo set up a small team to just make PC ports of their older games, but they don't even put their old games on Switch...
