  • This came incredibly highly recommended and I can't believe I haven't heard of her. She's been a massive influence on more amazing singers than I can count, so I'm very excited to get into this.

To be honest, among the 4 greatest singers of myself's Whitney-Mariah-Celine-Lara, I'm supremely crazy about Lara's voice. It's just too warm even at those high 5th-octave notes. In my opinion, Lara is the best Full Lirico Soprano ever if we are talking about both her technique and her natural voice.

how can you compare Lara with Celine/Mariah they need too much autotune. Listen to Lara and Floor Jansen (Nightwish), they are singers in heart and soul who completely wrap you (both emotionally and good storytellers). These two singers can handle all keys. Those are real artists who don't go for the commercial🤟🏻🤟🏻🎶🎶

Whitney-Mariah-lara were so incredibly beautiful as well wonder if there is a genetic link with beauty and voice, celine is the odd one out. :P

“Je suis Malade” was written by famous French singer & songwriter Serge Lama together with composer/singer Alice Dona in 1973.
This is based on his own experience and he was the original performer, hence some lyrics are a bit male-oriented (eg my mother leaves me, whiskies, I pour my blood in your body, …).
When Serge Lama had a dinner with Alice Dona and told her about his obsessive love that was leading to a road block, she came back home and compose the music in a couple of hours.
The morning after, she presented him the music and he wrote the lyrics in … 20 minutes.
Serge Lama was the original performer in 1973, it started to be promoted on the radio, and the song was brought to fame only when, a few months after, Dalida covered it. She was an absolute mega star in France, another emotional powerhouse, and this song resonated very much with her own feelings. Her success with this song transformed it into a french classic, and started to make it famous abroad.
But it is Lara Fabian that really made this song a very popular song in many countries with her cover in the mid 90s.
At that time Dalida had already passed away, but Serge Lama was (and is) still alive. Dalida and Serge were two inspirations for Lara, so she sent an audio copy to Serge of her version. She was unknown at that time in France but he was so impressed with her vocal skills and her emotions rendering that he invited her in France to sing it as a duet. They became good friends.
Lara has made some subtle changes to the song that gave it even more power and Serge Lama adopted these in his later interpretations.
The 1999 version ("From Lara with Love" Concert in Montreal)
    th-cam.com/video/eHSyk4SGtuY/w-d-xo.html
is legendary internationally and has attracted many artists to do a cover, even from non french-speaking countries.
The most recent ones I am aware of are from italian singer Giulia Falcone, from the korean singer Choi Sung Hoon or from the korean band Forestella.

LARA with links: Lara Fabian is a Canadian (Québécoise) of Belgium birth and Italian/Franco/Flemish cultural heritage. Lara spent a decade in a Brussels Conservatory studying piano, composition, and voice. Lara is a full lyric soprano with a vocal range that spans three octaves (A5, B4, BB4, C3, C5, C#5, D5, E5, EB5, F5, F#5, G5) in live performances. She is multilingual; in fact, she speaks Italian, French, Spanish, and English and has sung in 12. Lara, who describes herself as a songwriter/singer creates a high level of emotional connection with the listener. She has a discography of over 400 songs, has sold over 30 million records, and plays to sold-out venues worldwide. She lives in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, with her husband and daughter. A “50 at 50” - fifty live performances celebrating her 50th birthday had to be cancelled due to COVID-19 but was rescheduled as “The Best of Lara”.
The reason why I’m a ‘fan’ is her high level ‘EQ’ emotional intelligence expressed in the text of her songs. La raison pour laquelle je suis un « fan » de Lara Fabian est son « QE » élevé, qu’elle exprime dans le texte de ses chansons.

He *didn't* _'forget to watch the end of the video'_ . This particular video upload that he ''chose'' (unfortunately, its what usually ''pops up'' first/tops the list when one performs a more general search through ''TH-cam'' of this artist and song) is awful in that not only is it of mediocre quality, image-wise, but it ends prematurely; shortly after those stupid mini frames begin littering the screen , partially obscuring Lara visually while signaling its abrupt and maddeningly insensitive close.

Thanks very much mate, and yeah I do, though it's not as refined as I've seen some people describe it (Rick Beato's definition comes to mind, which is a major step above my own abilities.)
It's improved over time the more I practice it though (transcribing and arranging cover songs by ear is a great exercise for it,) and I find it interesting to note that I had no such ability whatsoever when I started learning guitar at age 14. I'm 32 now and I've probably got the best developed ear of my circle of musicians, so practice really does help with this in spite of what plenty of people say about it being genetic.

Great reaction, you captured many subtleties from her artistry. You won a subscriber!
You said she has an amazing mix belt: she is known indeed to be the queen of resonance and is nicknamed The Ring for this reason.
She has many other songs where she expose more of her insane upper register, phrasing and breath management.
She writes songs in 4 languages and sings in 12. You will find many gems in english. She covered many genres and it still performing amazingly nowadays.
Here it was a cover. I will give more information on this song and on her career and background.
Hope to see more of Lara on your channel!

With Lara Fabian, you go from the emotional song with this song, to the ADAGIO LIVE performance, to the classic with CARUSO or MADEMOISELLE HYDE, to vocal power with PERDERE L'AMORE and to rock opera with REQUIEM POUR UN FOU. There are few of the best of the young gen that fill reaction videos and delight the world that don't specifically call out Lara as a, or the, key influence. She sings in, at last count, 12 languages, and partially because of that her army of adoring devotees is very global. For me, she is the best performing artist of the last 30 years. She is the Queen, our Queen, my Queen, long may she reign.

she is the muse and Idol forDimash, his dream came through to sing together on a stage with her and they did. In november 2019 in Moskow to honor Igor Kry. when he had a jubilaeum to celebrete there, beautifull and worth looking. All her songs are beautiful as Broken Vow, Caruso, Adagio and Yendl, that she sang in a concert in Canada. Please, can you listen more with your reaction? More information on Lara Fabian:
Lara is recognized as one of the best vocalist ever seen on earth and all professionals list her in the top vocalist tier with Barbra, Whitney, Mariah, Celine, Lisa Fischer, ....
In my personal opinion, she is even the best.
There are a few vocal characteristics that are her signature: her famous resonance for instance that allows her to sing acapella without mic in venues with 8,000 attendees. Her nickname in the singing world is "the ring" due to this. I would also list her amazing phrasing, breath management and her pleasant tone even when belting in her upper register.
So she is one of the best vocalist ever, but on top of that, she adds a few things that make her an absolute package with no equivalence:
    • she speaks 2 languages natively (french, italian), and 2 others fluently (english, spanish), can speak a bit of dutch (and sicilian), and understand quite well russian and portuguese. She has sung in 12 languages in total
    • she is an amazing songwriter and wrote lyrics for most her songs, in the 4 languages she speaks fluently. She often co-composes the music with the composer.
    • she acts and performs on stage as nobody else, she colors and reveals the meaning of every single word in the songs, and her ability to emote, to draw you in is second to none
    • she is the sweetest soul on earth, very humble, down to earth and benevolent. She likes to meet others, and her fans are always pleasantly surprised when this happens.
A quick background on her and her career:
She is belgian, her father is flemish, but also has italian roots (her mother is from sicilia) and American roots ( her grandfather is from Detroit). She was raised in sicilia first then in Belgium so she speaks both french and italian as native languages.
She has been classically trained on vocal, piano and songs composition for 10 years ( from 8 to 18) in the Brussels Royal Conservatory.
She is still having vocal lessons and training several times a week today.
She started her career in Canada in the early 90s, more precisely in Quebec, the french-speaking part of Canada.
She now lives in Montreal and has also Canadian citizenship
She became very famous there and then conquered France in 1996/1997 (she topped charts there and some of her songs such as "Je t'aime" or "Tout" became classics of the french music).
In 2000, she was about to penetrate the US Market, with a lot of media initial interest. Her first english song (I will love again), a pop dance song, stayed number one on the US Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart for 58 weeks in a row and number 32 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Her Album ("Lara Fabian") was about to become a massive hit, and the concert "From Lara With Love" was recorded to be broadcasted everywhere in the US.
This concert is legendary and the song you just reviewed is from this concert.
But a dispute with Sony on artistry directions, and the will from Celine Dion's staff to block her progress in the US, completely broke this plan.
She thus refocused back on Europe and made huge success there, extending her reach to Eastern Europe and Central Asia where she became an absolute superstar thru her collaboration with Igor Krutoy during several years.
She is also a star in Brazil as her song "Love By Grace", used as the soundtrack for a very famous soap opera, topped the charts for months.
Many of her songs became classics and were covered by the other singing legends: Barbra Streisand, Shirley Bassey, Josh Groban, …
With her success in Europe, Brazil and part of Asia, she is the inspiration of the new generation of vocalists: most of them are coming from there.
Thru their covers of Lara Fabian songs, USA and many other countries are now rediscovering her.
She is Dimash's idol: I’ve read somewhere that, when he was a child, he was listening her songs every night to get asleep.
He covered many of her songs (that she performed originally ; she also wrote some of these).
Out of my mind I can list:
    ○ Adagio,
    ○ Mademoiselle Hyde,
    ○ Know/Vocalise/Ascolta La voce
    ○ Love of tired swans
She also wrote the lyrics of his song « Your Love ».
And she covered « Love is like a dream » before him (song from Igor Krutoy originally performed by Alla Pugacheva).
They also performed Ti Amo Cosi together with Aida Garafulina: this is a song that she performed originally with Dmitriy Hvorostovsky and Alina Yaroyava then again later with Dmitriy and Sumi Jo, before this new trio with Dimash and Aida.
Dimash is now also working with Igor Krutoy: Igor and Dimash connected after his Adagio cover, also endorsed by Lara ; Igor came back from retirement and composed severals songs for him after it.
Many other top vocalists from the current generation covered her songs:
    ○ Floor Jansen (Adagio),
    ○ Polina Gagarina (Adagio, Je t’aime),
    ○ Diana Ankudinova (Tomorrow is a lie),
    ○ Morissette Amon (Broken Vow),
    ○ Gabriel Henrique (Love by Grace),
    ○ Cakra Khan (Broken Vow),
    ○ Katrina Velarde (Broken Vow),
    ○ Regine Velasquez (Broken Vow),
    ○ Giulia Falcone (Adagio, Caruso, Je suis malade, Je t'aime),
    ○ Daria Bentsa (I guess I loved you),
    ○ Julie Anne san Jose (Broken Vow),
    ○ Rimar ( Adagio, Broken Vow),
    ○ Il Divo (Adagio)
    ○ Sarah Geronimo (Broken Vow)
    ○ Laura Bretan ( Adagio, Caruso),
    ○ Jackie Evancho (Je t’aime, Caruso and Broken Vow, BV rewritten as « Imaginer » by Lara for Jackie),
    ○ Almira (from 4th Impact band) (Broken Vow),
    ○ Amir (Je t’aime),
    ○ Anastasia Luna (Adagio),
    ○ Choi Sung Hoon (Je suis malade),
    ○ Forestella (Je suis Malade),
    ○ Petra Berger (Adagio, Broken Vow),
    ○ Katerina Maslova (Je t’aime, I guess I loved you)
    ○ ....
NB: Lara did cover Caruso and Je suis malade, these are not her originals, but I mention these here as the related artists were attracted to cover it again after listening to Lara’s version.
Today, Lara still has an amazing voice and tone and can still reach the 5th octave with resonance ; she still offers these emotive renditions that are her unique signature.
In June 2022, she kicked off a WW tour and stunned her fans once again with 5 magical concerts in Canada. She completed the europe part in September/October and I attended a concert from this tour. It was packed and she was again spectacular.
Sorry if I was long, but I hope this gives some context on Lara.

You still not mension the participation of Lara Fabian at the EUROVISION song competion in 1988 where she became 4 the reprsenting the country Luxemburg . She was 18 years old .....Celine Dion, a singer from an other continent(!!), repersenting Switserland, became nr 1 whit a more ritmic and a more sing along song...
That song sold 60.000 copies; that was the start of her singing carriere. Also in a German version ...

I've been listening to Lara since the 90's and love her to this day. Dimash first heard Lara at the age of 8 and fell in love with her voice (per Dimash in an interview). This performance came from her concert, From Lara With Love. The entire concert is amazing. If you get requests for songs sung at that live concert react those. I.e. Adagio ✌❤😎

Yeah she's got a ton of resonance going on in her voice, excellent compression and a beautifully balanced tone. She's very efficient and doesn't need to use a lot of air to stay in a "belty" kind of coordination and get a nice full sound out, which lets her sound really musical and conveys a lot of delicateness while still going for a relatively shouty kind of sound .

NO REASON to have this blurred out as it’s all over the reaction channels without that…no copyright infringement on her videos

    • @Grays_Plays
      @Grays_Plays  ปีที่แล้ว +2

I appreciate the feedback, but there's 3 good reasons why I personally will be blurring all reaction content going forwards.
      1. It saves me tons of time rendering and uploading reaction videos to just blur them all, as I can only tell what is and isn't allowed to be shown when I try uploading the video and not before. It risks taking several extra hours of editing/rendering to attempt uploading without blurred footage, and I just don't have the time to deal with that headache unfortunately.
      2. TH-cam's content ID system isn't perfect and quite often some channels just randomly have no problems while others get hammered with copyright issues (especially small channels like mine it seems,) so I have no way of knowing for sure that video footage won't cause me problems if I upload it unedited.
      3. TH-cam's standards for copyright striking channels changes over time and what's ok to share today can change on a moment's notice and risk getting my channel deleted years down the line. I'd rather play it safe personally as the rules and regulations for what's ok are continuously getting tighter.

    • @tomwhite4736

@@Grays_Plays pausing a little chat , rewind a little seems to address copyright issues for other reactors ?

    • @Grays_Plays
      @Grays_Plays  ปีที่แล้ว

@@tomwhite4736 It all depends on the video and what the stance is of the copyright owners what you are allowed to get away with in terms of using footage for a reaction video. In terms of youtube's copyright ID AI though (which seems to be pretty brutal with allowances for fair use,) stopping the video and chatting doesn't guarantee much.
This video in particular seems to be fine for most reactors using it to not need to hide the footage, but I'd bet good money it won't stay that way forever with how things are constantly tightening in regards to applications of fair use here on youtube. I'm aware of at least one reactor that had their channel terminated with no hope of appeal because of the rules changing after they'd uploaded videos without making attempts to edit the footage, and I've personally had a couple of videos blocked a couple of years after uploading because of similar changes to youtube's rules, so personally I think it'd be madness to not go out of my way to protect against obvious potential copyright issues now that I'm starting to get more consistent with my uploads.
Even in the best case scenario though it still risks adding several hours to my workflow to not blur copyrighted content as I've no way to guarantee that I'll be allowed to use the videos I react to unedited, regardless of what other reactors get away with, and I struggle enough to find the time to get videos done without adding obstacles to my schedule, haha.

Speaking as a musician it's brilliant that youtube is so good at protecting copyrighted content and that random people aren't just allowed to use whatever unedited content they please for whatever reason.)

      1. Ah I get you now, unfortunately it was blurred along with the rest of the video footage. Personally I still think this performance is awesome even without being able to understand the words though.
      2. That's fair, she's really good and he's clearly learned a lot from her. I don't agree as I think both are incredibly skilled singers and are a pleasure to listen to, but you're completely entitled to your opinion and tastes.
      3. I don't agree, but I respect your perspective. Unfortunately due to fear of future copyright issues I will be blurring all footage in reaction videos on my channel, as I've already had videos blocked after uploading them with no way of being able to prevent it due to youtube's ever tightening rules around copyright issues. I appreciate that it's not as fun to watch for you as a viewer, but from a legal perspective there's not a lot I can do as I have no real right to use unedited footage of other artists' material and for the most part it's just luck of the draw what videos us reactors are allowed to make use of (and for how long it stays that way.)

@@Grays_Plays Thank you for your reply. It is very important to know the text since it adds the drama of love life! The sung verses truly reflect the human soul. 3) I understand your position, know that others easily use images and translation. I don't know how they do it. Look at others and you will see. My best Christmas wishes.
