    I don't know why they changed the steering shaft so many times, never heard of using a 1 one and a sixteenth socket to remove the nut. Still trying to confirm the size on my 64, misplaced the socket I used before and some say it's 24mm, others say 27mm? Guess I'll have to buy them all, lol..

    Hi. I have a problem, it makes a honking noise when turning. I replaced the bearing and the wire in the steering column and nothing. There is no steering wheel and the steering column also makes a honking noise when turning. Can you suggest something?

    • @SladesVWBeetle
      @SladesVWBeetle  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Follow that wire very closely. It’s absolutely hitting somewhere. Where it connects up at the top, make sure it’s not grounding somehow there. If not, follow it all the way down. It definitely is grounding out somewhere. Maybe even near the coupler.

      The horn was repaired. The cause was a rubber connector (replacement). By accident, while turning the steering gear, I noticed smoke coming from one of the screws on this rubber connector. I replaced it with an old original one, it's ok.
