Yoga with Kassandra I just opened a yoga studio. I’m so new that I don’t have employees or ICs yet so it’s just me. I have to teach a variety of classes because I don’t know what people will want. What is your suggestion in this? I’m not at a place to hire anyone right now.

Thanks so much Kassandra!! 💕❤️💕❤️ I sat on the fence about teaching on TH-cam for a good 5 years. Until I found your channel. Then I could think, why not me? You honestly made me fall in love with Yin yoga, and it honestly changed my life. I wanted to take a YTT from you but it wasn’t available yet. So I started my channel with Hatha and vinyasa, and the competitive aspect is strong. However when you started offering Yin teacher training Kassandra, I was one of the first grads lol. It felt right in my heart to commit my channel to only Yin. What drives me is trying my best to help others through Yin yoga. It is a miracle style and everyone should practice it lol 😊 I have had my channel for a year and haven’t turned a profit yet. I understand that at the place in the game youtube is right now and it’s algorithms, it might be a long road. However, I am a very hard worker and yin yoga really inspires me. Doing the channel so far has made me grow so very much that’s it’s not about the money. It takes a long time, but I am so very thankful to you Kassandra and to the community that has started growing inside my channel. Best endeavour of my life!!! ❤️💕❤️💕

I just came across this video, and I’m glad I watched it! I started teaching in 2014 and I can so relate to the teacher hustle 10-15-20 classes per week was such a drain but so necessary, like you said, to build and learn and grow. When Covid hit and the studio shut down, I didn’t realize until then how thinly spread and overwhelmed I was - because I suddenly wasn’t teaching at all; so then I started doing some online stuff, and found I really liked it, so I’m trying to grow that more as well. Now I only teach 2 open air classes in person with our limited capacity and masks and all that jazz, and I feel like if I taught more it would be too much. It was nice to give myself permission to be picky, now that I’m more experienced. I really liked what you said about the niche - I relate completely with the feeling of having to be all things to all people lol and now as an acupuncturist, I find I have the ability to integrate that into my yoga teaching to make it a more unique experience. So much good advice in here and I very much appreciate your yin classes. They’ve been very helpful this past year! 🙏🙏🙏

Kassandra, I have to tell you I was such a huge fan of Adriene until I discovered your morning Intention videos, your Yin Yoga videos (as I matured as a Yogi in my own personal practice) and now you're giving this business advice. I look up to you. You are wise and you are helpful and kind. PLUS you foster little baby animals especially cats. I LOVE that. Thank you for being the human you are and I hope this all provides you success but also aids more and more people in their daily lives. I have suggested you to multiple people who are just getting into Yoga in recent times.

Hi Kassandra! I really needed to hear this! I thought I needed to be a "jack or all trades" as well. I have been focusing on what is most popular. I have spent the last couple of weeks reflecting upon what I truly love and what resonates with me. I finally have my answer. It may not be the most popular style of yoga, but I do know that it will serve others and it will fill my cup as well. Listening to you discuss this topic eases my mind. Thank you for all that you do! I appreciate these discussions and also your yoga classes! Take care, and have an amazing day 🙏😊💙

Thank you for your honesty. This is seriously the story of my life. Teaching 18 classes a week, then cutting back to 15 and now 13 but still burned out. I am smart enough to not take on a class I don't make less than 65 dollars or more. What I am struggling with is creating content and finding a platform other than my website for my residual income. For example doing a split progression series or beginners package with a place for customers to sign in to an account and have their classes like what's on your "exclusives" on your website.

I agree with the teacher trainings. I’m a cosmetology /esthetic instructor and you have to not only have work experience to share with the students what to do when things go wrong. Because things can go wrong. You also have to have a certain amount of maturity and develop way to communicate with your students to gain trust. Now I’m a new yoga 200 hour graduate and I would never consider teaching for at least 3-5 years if full time work. I hope the yoga teaching market doesn’t crash like the course market did! People see one way of doing things, suddenly the market gets torched.

Hello Kassandra! I'm loving these tips, I am planning to go online simply because I am a full time student and I can not afford to run around all day. Also the audience I want to target is worldwide and could not attend my classes. These are great tips and as harsh as they sound, it indeed is not easy to live off of just teaching yoga. You have to think of yourself as a business, think about your USP and build up a business model and marketing plan as well.
I'm really happy that you shared this video in the community, more of us need to know how to manage our career as a yoga teacher so people can be prepared and get over the hardships with a smart mindset and keep on going instead of giving up.
Your channel is wonderful, I wish you all the best and I really hope one day we can meet up, you have a wonderful character. Please also send some good vibes back, as I am working hard in the background to right now build a program and a channel myself.
    Much love,
    Veronika from Karuna Yoga

Thank you for sharing this information with us and it is good to get a good idea about the business of yoga. I can see a few people from my graduating teacher training from last year heading into the burnout eventually as they were going to quit their corporate jobs and teach yoga full time. I've started teaching on a small scale, teaching my work colleagues a couple classes a week and will be starting to do these classes virtually since our office shut down and we're all working from home.

Thank you so much for this very informative video, Kassandra. I am teaching yoga for 4 years now and am becoming a Full-time Yoga Instructor as from next month (combined with blogging & Social Media). I am dreaming about starting up my own platform, but am scared because of the high costs. I am passionated about Vinyasa yoga and would like this to be my main focus. Now that I have started up my business, I was stressing over the fact that I’ll have to teach soooo many classes 😰. I also teach POP Pilates 3x a week, and several group- and private classes. Knowing that I need at least 10 legit private classes on top of what I teach now is stressing me out 😕. When you asked “do you see yourself doing this for the next 5-10 or 20years?”, I said NO!
I love sharing my passion for yoga and teaching classes, but I don’t see myself teaching ± 15 to 20 classes/ week. So thank you for sharing your vision and tips on teaching online. I will definitely look into starting up my own platform and share my classes with my online community.
You are so inspiring and kind 🙏 Thank you!

If I knew what is REALLY meant to be a full time Yoga teacher back then, not sure I would have considered do this full time...... I have been practising since 2003 and did my YTT in 2007 and have been teaching since full time 2008.... I specialize in offering Yoga Nidra but most of my classes are movement based and helping everyone too enjoy their practice at their own level....
I also help EMPATHS giving short live on FB once a week.....But I also enjoy teaching and I am in the process of learning how I can teach in a way that I can generate more income and regain my strength too to continue for the future!
Would love to learn how I can create recorded classes and sell them for passive income.
    Thanks again.

You learned not to do what is merely popular - because of the fact that you yourself are a universe - and when you choose to do something you love, no matter what seems to be going on externally, you change that whole scene. and you create your little niche of friends who participate with you in what you love and convey and teach.

I've seen many webinars where ppl talk about these things a lot longer and more complicated and in the end they come with their now or never offer for a special price. Which is fine and a business model too but it doesn't resonate with me. The way you talk, choose your words and cut the crap is refreshing! About your offer at the end 😉 I would defenetly want to join a business retreat with you if it was in the Benelux! Thanks again 🙏

This was incredibly helpful! I made the transition to online at the beginning of the year - I do have one question though, bringing my teachings online, do I still need to have insurance? When working with studios they required that I have insurance as a private contractor. So I'm curious if this is still necessary since I'm not technically touching or physically around anyone? I know that it's good to have! But I just want your opinion :)

I’m confused about you saying start with niche courses first ? Surely you need the foundation
YTT before you start on other specialities …. Thanks in advance

The principles reviewed are very similar to the professional sales world I live in. Specialty separates you for all the generalists. It makes you an expert when they are hard to find. A business model defines what you will and will not engage in. Passive income or perpetual income is very important. You and your time are limited. Maximize your time.
I am not currently an aspiring full-time Yoga Teacher. This may seem odd but once I retire, Yoga may very well become my career. I know that Yoga is a physical endeavor. I also know that seniors are becoming more and more aware that physical activity, especially resistance and low impact can help them live longer more full lives. They are not going to relate well to someone in their 30's, no disrespect intended. My specialty could become working with a specific age group.
Kassandra, do not underestimate your ability to attract yogi's to a teacher training course. You have a personality that is very positive and upbeat. You attract people simply by being you. Your personality is also why your TH-cam channel has the number of subscribers it does.

This is great advice Kassandra. Would you have any suggestions on a platform to use to start offering a course online?
