I did visit and Saranda is truely a beautiful city and the water views are beautiful as well. I was thinking of retiring there, but the hills and stairs are crazy so it's a no for me. I decided to settle up north in Shkodra, it's a beautiful little City and I got a nice apartment with an annual, renewable lease. Shkodra is a very walkable and bike friendly city and I really love it here. Prices are lower than they are in Saranda too.
As someone who’s not really a beach enthusiast I am more interested in Skondra but I appreciate the content as I’ll probably visit Saranda for a couple of days.
Regarding transportation - there is a ferry from Sarande to Italy now. There’s also a ferry from Vlore to Italy and they are getting a new international airport in 2025.
Yes great comment! Do you know if the ferry will be running seasonally? It it nice to have another option even if it will be a slow option. We have mentioned the airport in Vlore previously, but I guess we will see if it actually opens on time 😀 We hope so as that would be an excellent option for getting to the south and central Albania! Cheers!
