Almost a whole year of not using my machine and I've finally figured out what the problem was. That damn position finger had got out of place. I honestly would never have figured that out without this video. Thank you so much 🙏
Thanks for sharing this. My wife bought the same machine. Got it home and it was stuck before she got to use it. Thought we were at a loss. I don’t have any experience with these. But, with your tutorial I was able to fix it with no problems. Thanks again.
Thank you for the tips! My wife's antique Singer 221-1 jammed up just like this and although it's a different design the concept is the same. On her unit it was impossible to disassemble as the single tiny screw was frozen (even after using penetrating solvent). After finding your video I stood the machine up on its end, put on some oil and let it soak a few mins as you suggested and was able to work the assembly back and forth to free up & remove some thread debris. She's back in business!
Thank you Steve and José for this great video! I was panicking thinking I had to call a technician and this was SO EASY to fix with ur video. I love feeling confident enough to fix this little issues with my machine. Keep it up guys! Appreciate you both.
Thank you sir , my machine just stop working, i been thinking of taking it to a technician but with video I've fix it myself and it working normal thank you so much May God bless you 🙏🙏
Thanks so much the trick really worked on my two lion industrial leather sewing machine. My machine got jammed really bad by a very tiny and small thread(which I was able to see after I tried out this trick of back and forth on the wheel after oiling, that was the first step proposed in this tutorial) Thanks so much for your help..
Thank you so much for this video. It has really helped me.My machine jammed when l was busy sewing uniforms for customers. For 3 days l was waiting for someone to come and work on the machine he did not come so l decided to consult on TH-cam,that was how l found your channel. I used the first step the machine was super.THANK YOU SO MUCH, GOD BLESS YOU.
I did that twice and had to take it to a mechanic far away. I learned how to do it myself. Your video explained so clear. My 20U73 has the tendency to grab that thread in the bob i ng basket. So everytime i change my bobins I slowly use the handwheel to bring my thread up so it won't happen. I appreciate your video.

Thank you so much, with your help,I removed fragments of a broken needle from the machine and now it works again, I would never have had the confidence to even contemplate this if I hadn’t seen your video
Thank you so much! I live in regional nsw Australia with only one mechanic who is on holiday atm. You’ve saved me. I did it on a walking foot machine. 😃
You are the best. Thank you for your videos. I didn't have thread jam but a needle jammed. Made it very difficult to remove the screws though. Must buy long jewelers screw drivers for tourche. Once again THANK YOU!!
The hook assembly screws wont budge on my 20ux143, the screws are stripping! Edit: I tried PB Blaster (I blocked off everything but the screws in case of overspray), still won't budge. Then my table is old so if I push too hard the right hinge pops out. I'm going to lose a finger over this 😂 My frustrations aside, thank you for this video. It's very clear and helpful, you gained a sub.
You can use this technique to try and loosen the screw albeit on a smaller scale.. It may damage it more, but you can always replace it once you get it out. th-cam.com/video/ZxojG8MoaQ4/w-d-xo.html
I jammed my SInger 20U 33 on my husband's jeans last week. I finally got it un jammed but now it is skipping stitches zig zag. It will zig zag 8 or 10 stitches then it stitches straight and then maybe a few more zig zag. Do you have a video on timing I think it might have knocked it out of time but I have no idea how to set the timing. I just don't know what to do I have to zig zag letterman jackets with patches
Nice Video and Explanation of how to clear a jam. I'm in need of a part I lost. Part # 154756 is a Clamp Stop Motion Stop Screw. Any ideas where I can find one (or maybe three) to fix a machine with?
Great I believe that’s what happens to my and I did mess with the basket case and probably move it out of alignment and also did move the needle bar up. Now I have to check is there is a thread in there and have to figure out to to set back to normal. I’m screwed now.
Hello, I removed the rotary hook that is connected to the shaft, but not being experienced (my mistake) I didn't leave it positioned in a "point" so that when I put it back in place it would remain in normal operation. now the needle hits the rotary hook. Is there any way I can put the machine at a "0" point and apply the rotating hook there to keep it working normally? I've seen the manual but I can't find the answer
What about to fix the zig-zag knee pedal which feels hard to push. It kind of resist too hard and won't easy to return I have oiled all the moving parts, but it seems no effect at all
Hello! I have the Singer 191D-30 and I’m having an issue where when I’m winding my bobbin the machine gets jammed and the hand wheel will not move. I stop winding the bobbin and move the hand wheel around a few times and it works again for a little while but then Will jam up again when I am sewing and makes this really loud “clanking” sound. I’ve changed the needle so many times and that seems to be a temporary fix. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
Thank you! 5 years later and this video saved me lots of money!!! Cannot express my gratitude!

Hi this is so helpful but I cant remove the position finger. It doesn't come out after taking out the screw
You may have to pry it out. They are wedged in pretty good.
