    Guys, I carried the 1911 concealed for years. Round in the chamber and safety on. Carried in waistband behind right hip, and I'm right-handed. In a very short time it becomes part of your wardrobe and you don't even know it's there. Wear a baggy shirt or Hawaiian shirt in hot weather and no one else knows it either. Very fast to deploy.and get the first round off. Has the best trigger of any handgun, period. And, I don't care what you say, getting a round of .45 ACP on target first is a pretty good way to start the fight off. Very serious piece of self defense gear. Thanks.

    I was carrying a Colt 45 on our ranch since I was 8 years old. Would often walk along the Brazos River looking for arrow heads. We had bob cats coyotes, feral hogs and wild domestic dogs. That's what I'm comfortable carrying and shooting. I'm now 57.

    I've never understood the people that will pay hundreds or thousands for a gun and ammo that is $1 per round. The reasoning is because it's reliable and their life is worth it. But then it ends up sitting in the safe and they carry something cheaper because they're afraid they'll have to use it and it gets taken away. If the gun saves your life and it ends up in evidence who the hell cares? That's the entire reason you carried it. It did its job. You're alive. Great video as always.

      +TacticalDesire thanks my friend. I'm getting a lot of msgs from people that are upset that I would carry the Wilson? I even had a fellow demand I PayPal him money because of this video?!?!?! LOL. I know of one detective that carries a Wilson Professional on duty and the thing has it's finish worn to the metal almost. I also am talking to a guy here who is a "SWAT" member that is saying the dept is looking into the Wilson CQB Rail as their secondary/duty gun so.... But anyway I appreciate your thoughts!

      I'm convinced some of the dumbest gun owners and people in general congregate in TH-cam comments. It just never made any sense to me to buy the best gun you can afford and then not carry it. I get there's collectors pieces etc but most of these guns are replaceable. Your life isn't. I've seen people on forums who will buy a Glock but their nightstand/HD gun is a .38 Police trade in revolver because they don't want their Glock to be taken away if they have to use it. And Glocks are a dime a dozen. I just don't get that mentality. The entire reason you carry a gun is to have it in case you need it to save your life. If you have to use it god forbid the gun did it's job!.

    I carried one of several government model 1911s for years, but in recent years working in an office, weekdays I carry a Springfield Range Officer Compact which I love. I've carried polymers for years but now that I'm in my *cough* 50s *cough* I have been putting in the research and I am slowly transitioning to the 1911 platform for my EDC as well. If a weapon designed over 100 years ago is still in massive use, that's something I can't go wrong with. There are some things I will have to learn and train(and some things to unlearn). The gun just feels comfortable and reliable compared to a lot of my polymers. All the new "tactical" bells and whistles in the world can't measure up to those attributes. I feel odd that I didn't do this a lot sooner. Thanks for the video.

  • @matthewrobinson4323

    For a quick liquor store robbery, a striker - fired polymer gun is perfectly acceptable nowadays. But for formal occasions, such as robbing a bank that has a lobby and a security guard, a snubnose revolver, an m1911a1, or at the very least, a Beretta m 9 are de rigueur.
    One should carry a snubnose revolver from Memorial Day till Labor Day, and the m1911a1 (preferably) or the m 9 after Labor Day.

    I know this video is old now but I carry the 1911 pretty easily and I’m a really tall skinny guy and I can put it under my t shirt not really an issue. I feel like it’s underrated as a CC gun because it’s a weird mix of everything. It’s full size and long with a long grip so you have the accuracy and velocity but it’s really slim so it’s easier to conceal than bulkier guns. And it’s a 45 that’s slim. 8+1 in the chamber isn’t bad for capacity in my opinion

I couldn't help chuckling when you said that you downsized as well. I guess the old saying, "beware the man with one gun -- he likely knows how to use it." You certainly put in the work to prove it to yourself. Kudos.

  • @LilYeshua

    Do you think that having a good certified armorer look over a CCW gun for any flaws and potential relibility problems would be an added plus?

    • @TheOl1911
      @TheOl1911  8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +Lil'Yeshua definitely is a good idea. 1911s do require more maintenance than a say Glock. As an example a LE agency that allows 1911s they have a dedicated armorer just for the 1911 and the officers that carry a 1911 are required to have a back up 1911 just in case one goes down. Maintenance for a Glock as an example is pretty straight forward and cheaper for sure over a 1911. Also the expertise level is different.

    One problem! If god forbid you do have to use that beautiful reliable and expensive 1911 in self defense, the police are going to confiscate it and hold it as evidence. You’d be lucky to eventually get it back.

    have you thought of using a ankle holster for the pug or one of you revolvers?

    • @TheOl1911
      @TheOl1911  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not a fan of ankle carry however 5 Shot Leather makes an ankle holster for the Pug. Clint Smith use to carry it on his ankle as a back up gun. Pretty impressive. I do have a pocket holster being made for it so let's see if that is even possible. However I need to make an update vid on my Pug so when i get back I'll do that and get that up...

    Hey boss, is +P ammo alright to use in a 1911?

    • @TheOl1911
      @TheOl1911  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      In the Wilson its fine to shoot +p ammo. I would not put a steady diet of +p ammo through any gun but with the Wilson its fine. I can't speak to other brand 1911s but the Wilson is a full carbon steel and it has a shok-buff in there (Clint Smith hates them LOL) so it helps the battering... but the most important thing is the recoil and magazine springs are strong to assist in the reliability.
