How cool. I got to take my Mom on an all expenses paid cruise to Alaska with a balcony. While we were gone, I had her house redone. New carpet, main floor. New Kitchen floor, new furniture the WORKS! When we came home after the trip of a lifetime, it made her life so much better after losing my Dad. I will never forget it.
Less a year later, she died, but her life without my Dad was made easier. I will forever be grateful to my parents and the happy about the last thing I was able to do for my Mom.

That video really made me think about my own mom. She passed away 11 years ago today. In your video you said life is short, get out and do those things you always wanted to do. I just turned 60 this past Monday. I live alone and decided just over a year ago I wanted to take a trip. After watching yours and many other youtube videos I settled on Amtrak. Other than the small train at Disneyland, I have never road a train before. This past July, I took the Amtrak Thruway bus to Los Angeles. Took Amtrak from Los Angeles to New Orleans. Stayed overnight, walked back to the train station and took City of New Orleans train to Chicago. Spent the day walking around Chicago, and boarded the Train again (Empire Builder) to Portland OR. Stayed overnight there and took the Coast Starlight train back to So Cal. I was in a roomette the whole time, what a wonderful way to travel. Next year I am taking the train all the way to Portland Maine so I can take the Trolley tour and eat some fresh Lobster. Maybe some day I will run into traveling some where. Happy traveling and be safe...Mike from Las Vegas.

Your mother is more active and adventurous at 70 than I am at 42! I love that you took her on this trip to see places that she's always wanted to go. You're a fantastic son and travel partner ❤

That is such a nice thing you've done for your Mom! You really made her day, her week, month and years to come! My Mom loved Colorado, doing Pikes Peak, Estes Park, Grand Junction, Red Rocks, etc. I'm so glad she was able to enjoy those places with us...and I know for a fact that your Mom enjoyed being with you on this wonderful trip. You are so upbeat and cheerfully optimistic, good on you mate!

My mom passed 6 months ago, she loved travel and adventure. I always thought I’d take her on a trip, just the two of us, when my work schedule got lighter. I never let myself take that break from work and it is one of my biggest regrets. Life truly is too short to not be doing cool stuff constantly.

I can relate, Mike. I gave my parents an Alaskan cruise for their 40th wedding anniversary. Not the big ship, a company that does smaller, yacht-sized boats. They LOVED it. The first thing Mom said when they got home was, "Now you have to go. It was the trip of a lifetime." Both Mom and Dad are into wildlife, so you can just imagine. And yes, I did finally go, but on a bigger ship with friends.

I love this one. We have driven through the Glenwood Canyon several times and it's breathtaking every time. When we were in Glenwood Springs for an early dinner in late July this year, we saw an Amtrak train stopped at the station and we walked up the stairs and over it. It was fun to see all the people boarding. Thanks for taking me along on the ride.

I found your channel last night and have been watching them back to back. Thank you for making these! You make me want to take a train trip. I lost my mom 17 years ago and this episode has me in tears so happy for you! This is a trip my mom and I would have loved! I'm planning a trip this summer for my 17 year old son for his senior year in high school. From Portland, OR to Michigan 🙂 Thank you again!

The views, level of service and your pure enthusiasm has caused me to check the Rocky Mountaineer website for more info. Your a wonderful son to have your parents accompany you and share the experiences of the two rail trips. However, I have to say this one is the better of the two. A belated HAPPY BIRTHDAY to your mother 👍🙏❤️🎂🍾🥂🎉🎉🎉

Our country is beautiful... Utah and Wyoming are such geological masterpieces...That train ride looks amazing!...I wish more people would get out to see it...I'm a philly neighborhood guy; I know adults that never even got a driver's license...I served in the USAF, and was stationed in No. Cal...for 4 years...I took my wife to Tahoe for our honeymoon, it's overwhelming to people that haven't seen 12,000 foot mountains and mile deep valleys. ...You'd need 20 lifetimes to see half of it!

I was confused when you mentioned going to Moab by train, since Moab doesn't have a station. Sure enough, with a little research I was able to determine that the train stops at a gravel parking lot ~12 miles north of Moab, which is admittedly better than the Amtrak service to Moab which is via Green River, UT, and a 50-mile bus trip. Mystery solved.
