Ok can we all just appreciate how Mike and Will can take a delay, something you’d usually think of as a bad effect on the trip. But they took it made it part of the adventure. The journey is the destination, because when you pull into that train station and get off the train, you immediately want to know when you’re getting back on another train. Life is the train journey, take full advantage of it, you only live once. I think we need more people like Mike and Will in this world. This is the kind of stuff we should be seeing in the news. Keep up the great work Mike 👍
I made this trip 24 years ago on what would be the most defining moment of my life. Watching this video took me back in time and legit made me happier than any other YT video that I have ever seen... Ever! This was such a blessing. Thank you for taking us with you on your journey.

Your train's delay reminded me of how often trains in India run late. I heard a story about the Indian train system. An American was in a small town in India that had only one train that stopped at the station each day. The train he wanted to get on was scheduled to arrive at the station at 11:00 am each day. Even though he knew that the train would probably be a few hours late, he got to the station at about 10:55 am. And lo and behold, the train arrived at the station at 10:59. The American said to an Indian standing next to him, "Wow, I'm surprised that the train is on time." The Indian said, "This is yesterday's train."
lol @ yesterdays train. but jokes apart, both US and India have huge distances between the country corners so each has their own set of problems , US trains have to give way to freight trains all the time as no single entity owns the tracks , all give preference to their own traffic, then there is time zone changes which sometimes makes people misjudge the travel time while Indian Tracks don't support high speed travel ie more than 120kmph ( though that is changing as the Railways is upgrading its infrastructure. also Indian tracks are highly utilised where any delay cascades down the line very easily and creates delays all around.
LoL, being an Indian I just can't deny it. I had once experienced a cancellation of my train and on asking for the reason we were told there is some shooting scene going on so they rescheduled the trains.
I've never heard of this channel before, but I'm glad I stumbled upon it. This isn't a video about taking a long distance train. This is a video about meeting the right people exploring the same vibe and making the best you can in the short amount of time you have. I love this.
I just discovered your channel and this trip on the zephyr to California, and it was simply a treat… Loved the interaction between you and Will and how you guys went with the flow… My mom took a similar trip beginning in Washington DC a few years back she enjoyed along with her friends. I’m not sure I could get my wife to do it but I would love to try it for the adventure alone… Glad I found your channel and I’ll be watching !!!!
People said the same thing when I did my 5 years of prison time I'm a recovering alcoholic and drug addict with multiple years of sobriety and clean time but if you don't learn to make something positive and fun out of a tough situation it's going to be extra tough❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
This is probably my favourite video on TH-cam. I watch it frequently and send it to my friends and family (they all love it, too). It's not just about taking a train across America. It captures friendship, adventure, trusting your gut, being spontaneous, appreciating nature and making the best of any situation you find yourself in. Mike's narration always has the right tone to draw you in and his enthusiasm and Will's energy make for a thoroughly entertaining viewing. Amazing job, Mike and Will.
They probably think you’re a very odd person. Not spreading knowledge or anything that might help someone just a train ride. While the dollar is about to collapse and w3 is breaking out people share train rides
@@danerasmussen6468 Hi! In my downtime I do like to watch travel vlogs as, due to a brain condition I have (20 brain surgeries so far), I am unable to fly so travel has been extremely limited for me. I can't even travel a certain height above sea level so this particular trip wouldn't even be a possibility. I like to watch videos by @DownieLive because I like to see joy; as you said, with the state of things going on right now, it's hard to feel a lot of joy. I run my own charity and do a lot of hard campaigning in my job so this is how I choose to spend a little (not all!) of my downtime. It doesn't mean I have no awareness of what is going on in the world,n nor does it mean I don't care about it. You're on here despite not caring about train rides on TH-cam. Just enjoy the video and let people be, maybe? If you think I'm 'odd', it really doesn't hurt me. Have a good day. :-)
I took a train from Washington state, the one just above Oregon..to Florida. It took 7 days one way. My Mom hated to fly so we traveled by train. I have to say it was the most iconic trip I ever took and so glad I got to take such a neat trip with my Mom. I was only 14. We stayed 2 months then had to take the train back to Seattle. The beauty we saw. Things I'll never get to see again. If you have the means I recommend it! Take your Mom!
I hate to fly also and know this fear , but i have to from time to time , but when i can , i train or even bus to my next destination , you get to see so much more than from 38,000 feet ,
@valley girl: "The one just above Oregon." Omg. There IS only ONE WA State, in the northwest! The other Washington is in District of Columbia, on the east coast. Talk abt "the dumbing-down of America"!
@@DownieLive In Wasilla Alaska, there is a group of people that are remastering an old ARR steam engine. You should check it out when you do the Golden Route on ARR.
Wow this is cool to see from a European perspective. We've got some spectacular train journeys too but everything is so... different. The train cars are so damn high! And the service so different from what you'd get on a European train. Love how you made friends with all the car attendants, and it's wild that they'd literally come to the restaurant to get all the passengers back to the train when it leaves earlier than expected. Super cool to see!
Amtrak purposefully keeps the same attendant assigned to each sleeper car for the entire trip, solely (I think) so they and you get to know each other on an almost personal level. Great touch by Amtrak, if you ask me!
@@wallyman292 The only possible drawback is, if you get stuck with an attendant who's less-than-enthusiastic about the job, it can put a real damper on your experience. Fortunately, most Amtrak sleeper car attendants are terrific, and you really do feel like you've made a friend by the end of your trip.
Trust me, Amtrak sucks. But they do the best they can because they have to use freight tracks meaning they yield to the freight cars slowing them down on sidetracks. I took a train from New Mexico to Missouri and we missed our connected in Kansas City, and they got us on a bus. We arrived in MO before the train did.
@@jackcallahan1848 Yeah. . . You pretty much gotta treat an extended ride on Amtrak as a vacation in and of itself. To rely on it to get you from point "A" to point "B" on schedule is NOT a good idea!
As a fellow Canadian, and craving a good rail journey, I've actually just booked this exact train journey, all because of your videos and I can't wait to experience this at the end of the month. You and Will are awesome, thank you 😎👊
As someone from Ottumwa Iowa, I can't tell you how excited I was when you ran off the train to see our CB&Q #3001 Locomotive! I've watched just about every Amtrak Zephyr video on TH-cam (to see if they show anything from our town) and you're the first person to actually get off the train and see the locomotive!! Your spontaneity and philosophy on train travel is spot on - its one of the things that makes your videos so special. Excited to watch your trip to Alaska! If you're ever passing through Ottumwa again I'll be sure to wave!
I loved this video! My late husband & I rode Amtrak several times, including The CA. Zephyr, so watching this video brought back great memories. Thank you so much, so two fellows are WONDERFUL!!!
Here is an interesting fact about the California Zephyr. The climb out of Boulder Colorado is called the ten mile curve. If you look on a map it does a huge S bend staying on the hillside

I searched for this exact topic. This trip is on my bucket list. My family went through Chicago train station June 1881 when we came to America. To ride the scenic trip to California would be a blast.
As much as I have enjoyed all of your TH-cam segments, this is my favorite. I appreciated how you found the positive in what most would have viewed as setbacks. The chemistry between you and Will was a pleasure to watch. Always looking forward to your next adventure ... maybe more with Will.
All it takes to delay Amtrak significantly is any train having a hot axle, much less any other issues... Its a long list that Amtrak has no control over...
I could not stop smiling throughout the whole video!! we need more Mike & Will adventures. This was probably my favorite video you've ever posted, thank you for taking us along your amazing journey!!
I was smiling for almost the entire video. You guys have such a great bond. As a train enthusiast, a train lover, and a train enjoyer, there is nothing quite like meeting new friends along the way, even though you may never see them ever again. Trains are a great way to travel, bond, and appreciate what we have accomplished. Great vid guys. Keep on keeping on. -@ConnecticutAmtrak
Brothers this video was so great this is how life should be having fun going on adventure's everyone involved respecting each other exploring new cities, new sites with plenty of laughs & smiles. I like how you show the room/ shower size the menu choices. I need to add you & will have great energy together making the most out of your trip and again your smiles are infectious cheers to all. When you show the stations, I am waiting for the guys in makeup & baseball uniforms on roller skates to come out like on the warriors lol.
Damn I was fully planning on watching 5 minutes tops, but I literally felt like I was apart of the trip and ended up watching the whole thing. Amazing content!
I took this ride in early June. I broke it up into a few parts, as I visited family in Denver and Reno, but it was an absolute blast. The climb up from Denver into the Rockies was absolutely beautiful. Seeing it on video doesn't do it justice, you must do it in person.

I took an Amtrak room just like that from LA to Seattle. I was too close to the locomotive and the exhaust fumes came into the room’s ventilation the entire time.
I took the same trip back in July of 2019. As a lifelong Southern California resident, it was cool to get to see the rest of the Pacific coast. It’s a really great experience if you don’t have diesel fumes in your room the whole time.
@@GrahamcrackerToonz The fumes were worse when the train was moving slowly through mountain passes or especially tunnels. They weren’t as bad at full speed in the open, though they were still there. It is a beautiful route. Definitely some Internet/cellphone gaps.
I love seeing everyone getting so excited over the scenery and critters in Colorado! I'm from Colorado (but currently living in Seattle) and I forget sometimes just how spectacular it is. To me, it's just where family is and I often dread "having" to go visit Colorado. It's nice to be reminded that there are people who travel to visit the state... thanks for the shift in thinking and now I'm excited to go see my family in CO this summer!
riding on a scenic train genuinely seems so fun. everyone is so nice in your videos and you've made so many friends on the trains, whether you see them again or not. and if your train gets stuck? there's anyways more to see.
i really like your positivity. The train is delayed for 5 hours, so you choose to see a place none of us would probably go to unless we had relatives/friends there. How many passengers would complain, rather than seizing the moment as you have! Brilliant!!!
I have taken Amtrak a few times from Columbus, WI to Klamath Falls, OR and boy do I miss those days. My company paid for my tickets which was a bedroom and I cannot begin to tell you what a treat it was. I also had my mom and my sister come visit on the same route and they said the same thing...a great treat. Thank you for bringing me back to those great days!
I’ve taken every route Amtrak from east to west and west coast to east coast. I absolutely loveeeeeee the train. In my younger years when I was poor I would go coach. However, the first time I took the Train from Chicago to LA and got a roomette I was sold. It’s the best. Experienced a few delays here and there however Amtrak always seems to make up time. What a lot of folks don’t know is that Amtrak does not own the rails they travel on. With that being said the freight trains have priority and this is the most common cause for delays. Oh and let’s not forget the food in the diner car. Some of the best meals aboard any means of transportation has been served on Amtrak. I love the fact you’re showing the public out the rails.
Honestly love your train videos especially any traveling with Amtrak. The friendship you have with travel buddy, Will. Really came through in this video. Also the train attendant Cesar seems like an awesome guy who is super friendly and welcoming. I can't wait to book an Amtrak journey for next year from the UK.
Before you told us the guest I was chanting for it to be Will and it was! So excited for this 43 minute video. How you upload every Saturday and around the same time every week and always make an entertaining video with amazing music and always end it with “I don’t know where I’m going next but I know I want you there with me” always gets me excited for Saturdays. The best youtuber and always worth the 1 week wait!
Thanks to Michael and Will for such an enjoyable video. I could have watched hours more. Of course, thanks also to all the hardworking Amtrak staff, who also can't be certain quite when they will see their families after embarking on such long journeys.
If you ever get to spend an entire day in Utah, getting to watch the sunrise over the Wasatch Mountains and the sunset behind the Oquirrh Mountains is pretty special.
I did this back in 2010, everything looks the same. Really enjoyed the communal seating for the meals, got to meet some great people and learn a lot about the US. Looking forward to getting back over there and travelling on more Amtrak trains. Thanks for bringing back great memories Michael. You should come down to NZ our trains don’t travel as far, but the scenery is just as fantastic.
I have seen a few of these train videos in preparation for my own solo adventure and this is so far the BEST I’ve seen and I haven’t finished watching!!! I’m smiling throughout bc you two are absolutely fun 🤩 to watch. Amtrak needs to sponsor both of you if they haven’t already. I’m so excited. I was hoping to book this soon…I’m ready to do so now but I need to get back to the video! Thanks for showing details I’ve never seen in other videos. Thanks so much!
You and Will make the perfect team!! You both have wonderful personalities that compliment each other so well. You guys are so nice to everyone you meet and go out of your way to introduce yourself to the, staff I love that. Do more videos together please!!!
That was a spectacular trip. I liked how you turned the long delay in Winter Park into something positive. Here's a coincidence for you: Dylan's Travel Reports yesterday was his trip on the California Zephyr from Chicago to San Francisco. That's timing. His train was only an hour or two delayed.
Enjoy the train journey. If you are not in a hurry, plan a layover somewhere on the journey. Layovers add spice to the train journey although admittedly adding a night's hotel expense...
I, too, saw the Dylan vlog and almost didn’t watch this one, thinking more of same. But no, both are well worth watching. Love Mike’s attitude to delays!
@@Bungletronics Mike Downey is a real showman with an outgoing personality that works well in this format. he could do this professionally. I don't know of Jen Brooks but now that you mentioned her I'll check out her channel.

I love how Mike reviews everything from top to bottom and doesn't miss a single detail (including the bathroom tours!), which makes this experience so much more panoramic than just watching a regular vlog.
I’ve been looking Into this trip for about 2 years. From planning the right seasons and month to either going to Seattle or San Fran, I’m convinced going to San Fran is the best choice and as Will said, it’s a lot to take in and taking it in is the best thing to do
You guys know how to live, appreciate and thank you so very much. I took a train from Los Angeles to Chicago and had the time of my life. To think all I had missed before. No way can you experience all the sights and comradery experience on an airliner, there is no comparison. Life is to experience not just ponder upon. If y'all plan a group trip hmu! Peace & love everyone.
This may have been the most fun I ever had seeing a rail journey video on TH-cam. Your enthusiasm for rail travel is why I once rode all the AMTRAK routes west of St. Louis to see The West in 5 weekend to weekend trips in the 2001 - 2010 timeframe. My wife went once and with her was the only journey with a long delay and it was all too much rail time for her, but I really enjoyed trips alone meeting other rail fans along the way. You sure got a great tip about stayig the night in Reno to catch the next day's Zephyr train since AMTRAK has the daytime scenery timed, but you did show me what Salt Lake City looks like in the daytime hours. I would say only the Coast Starlight from L.A. to Seattle rivals it and you may as well include starting off with San Diego to L.A. taking the Surfliner train along the ocean. That trip includes views of the Pacific Ocean and mountains as well. I am very familar with Chicago Union Station making connections and rode the Zephyr twice as part of those trips. For others watching, I recommend if doing one AMTRAK trip of a lifetime for a week taking the Zephyr from Chicago to Emeryville across from San Francisco. The next day taking the Coast Starlight down to L.A. that includes several hours along the Pacific Ocean. Then taking the Southwest Chief the following day back to Chicago through Arizona and New Mexico through red rock mountains. That was my first and best trip for diverse scenery in 2001. I also sure liked hanging out in the AMTRAK Superliner Observation Lounge car for the scenery and meeting other rail fans. I liked seeing all the food you selected. You made me hungry. Thanks for placing on TH-cam. From St. Louis
Mike, Your train journeys are fun and inspiring. The beauty you get to see when riding Amtrak is amazing. I will be taking several trips in the next few years. This will be one of them. Stay safe.
Awesome. Come on out and do the Auto Train. That's my old route between SLC and Winnemucca. Now i'm in Florida. We've got some great people who work for Amtrak. Thank you for highlighting them.
I’d love to see you two ride the Texas Eagle. It’s close to my heart since it connects me to my daughters. I live in St Louis and the Eagle would take me tho them in Tucson. Someday I hope to visit them. The Texas Eagle is not as scenic as the Zephyr or the Empire Builder but it’s still worth the trip. It gives you plenty of time to spend some quality time together. I really enjoy you Mike! Thanks for your unbridled enthusiasm . It takes my mind off of difficult things. Love you both!!!
I've done the CZ several times from Ft. Morgan, CO and back. Just for the ride. And one trip I was in the same roomette (#24) you and Will were (not sure the same car # though) in on your first leg before bailing at Reno and catching #5 the next day. The Transition/Dorm car is not usually sold to revenue passengers as it is usually used for the onboard crew. But when heavy passenger load factor then will sell roomettes. The Trans/Dorm became my favorite sleeper car type. It is all roomettes. There is minimal foot traffic thru the car except for shift changes for the crew. And the downstairs is used by the Conductor and Assistant Conductor. I asked if I could come downstairs for bit and the said sure. It was interesting to chat with them though they keep their ears tuned to the radios for updates and the like. Love your stuff. Highball!
Man, I love living vicariously through your lens. Thanks, Mike for taking us on your journey. Now I know what bucket list I need to do. The one trip I need to take is from Edmonton to Vancouver by train. I'm glad you have Instagram because I remember seeing you and Will on the Amtrak.
I couldn't stop smiling while watching you guys either! I'm going to duplicate this trip ASAP, having never ridden a train more than a few miles, or knowing this route existed. Cheers!
Hi Downey, this video has inspired us to take the Zephyr the other way, from Sacramento to Chicago! We will visit family out there, catch a ball game at Wrigley Field, and visit Navy Pier. This will be late in May, so we hope we encounter some of the beautiful scenery that you did. I'll remember that distillery if we stop in Fraser, Colorado. Cheers!
I am an avid traveler. Have been riding Amtrak since 1976 and I have stories to tell. I have been used, abused and transported by Amtrak. Your video has the delight of train travel infused throughout. The best times often are when things go off the rails. You find the unexpected and take what you get. At best, you are gifted and at worst you have a story to tell of when things went sideways. All of those are why I always am willing to get on board. I am willing to be late; willing to see how the trip unfolds. That was much more interesting than watching the plains roll by. Finally, a train video that caught the essence of the pleasure of traveling by train.
16:14 OMG I've been trying to find a video about how they get into Denver Union station on Amtrak since it's a stub station for over a year, and FINALLY found your video on how they do it! The only one I've see that actually shows the move! THANK YOU! By the way, this isn't the only reason I'm here -- I'm a new subscriber after seeing your across USA by rail videos and LOVE the start to your UK canal boat series. You've got yourself a new dedicated subscriber, my friend! I love your attitude about travel, especially about Amtrak and boats!

I remember there was someone on the train once who had been on since California five days ago. She was pissed because she hadn't showered in five days.
My Dad and I took the Zephyr a few weeks ago, mid June. Passing through the Moffat Tunnel, it was bright, hot, and sunny when we went in, and everyone in the observation car gasped loudly when we got into Winter Park to see it was densely snowing. Got my slippers soaked and I was FREEZING in my short sleeves and shorts. This was four days before summer. Definitely one of the highlights of an amazing trip.
I watched both yours and Will's videos of this trip. So cool to see the same trip from 2 different personality perspectives and video edits! Both great channels, keep up the good work!!!
THANK YOU!!!! I like all my travels to be an adventure...if things don't go as planned make it something extraordinary! Thanks for the journey!!! You guys are excellent travelers!
This is probably my favorite video on TH-cam. I turn 30 this year and have been planning a cross country trip. Watching your videos just makes me even more excited than I already am. Watching all the friends you’ve made on the train and seeing how great the energy is between you and will is just so cool and lighthearted. Thank you for uploading. You’ve got a new subscriber in Cleveland ohio❤️
I had the distinct pleasure of taking this exact trip 5 years ago but in reverse, I went from California to Chicago, and caught another train from Chicago back home to NJ. This honestly made me day, not sure why this cropped up in my recommended but I'm glad it did. +1 sub can't wait to see more adventures, also hello from CA where I live permanently now
That guy looks familiar! Oh, it’s me! Mike we have the best trips. I can’t wait to get on another train. Get ready for my video! Coming very soon. ❤️💥
We’re all waiting for your version, Will!
Drop it now!! 😃
After this, I'm subscribed to your channel. Can't wait to see your take on your adventure.
What an awesome adventure! Watching yours next, Will!
Omg pulling out your bonnet killed me 🤣
@@ssjess2504 it killed Mike too! He was like what’s that?!?
Man, I've never felt more like I was watching two good friends hang out and share a special memory.
Me too! Was so cool seeing Mike and Will hang out like this while riding on a train. I hope I have the privilege to go on a train like this one day.
Yes! And the fact that they made a new friend and included him in the adventure.
I made this trip 24 years ago on what would be the most defining moment of my life. Watching this video took me back in time and legit made me happier than any other YT video that I have ever seen... Ever! This was such a blessing. Thank you for taking us with you on your journey.
Same, I took this same train 21 years ago at age 21. It was an amazing adventure. One I want to relive.
@@bethsweeney715 Haha Same! took the trip 5 years ago as a 16yo
Repent and follow Jesus my friend! Repenting doesn't mean confessing your sins to others, but to stop doing them altogether. Belief in Messiah alone is not enough to get you into heaven - Matthew 7:21-23, John 3:3, John 3:36 (ESV is the best translation for John 3:36). Contemplate how the Roman empire fulfilled the role of the beast from the sea in Revelation 13. Revelation 17 confirms that it is in fact Rome. From this we can conclude that A) Jesus is the Son of God and can predict the future or make it happen, B) The world leaders/nations/governments etc have been conspiring together for the last 3000+ years to accomplish the religion of the Israelites C) History as we know it is fake. You don't really need to speculate though because you can start a relationship with God and have proof. Call on the name of Jesus and pray for Him to intervene in your life. - Revelation 3:20
Revelation has been unfolding since Jesus died. The Popes have claimed to be equal to God and set themselves in Jesus' place (antichrist(s)). Vatican City (Which is its own nation BTW) have risen up to fulfill the role of the false prophet
Regarding the man of lawlessness or antichrist, 2 Thessalonians 2:4 says “Who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sits in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.” The restrainer that the Apostle Paul was referring to in 2 Thessalonians was the Western Roman Emperor, who held back the Popes from taking power. Once the last Western Roman Emperor was removed from power in 476 AD, the Pope was given civil and ecclesiastic authority over Rome; healing the deadly head wound of the beast in Revelation 13, as they took the Emperors title of Pontifex Maximus, leader of the church and state.
“We may according to the fullness of our power, dispose of the law and dispense above the law. Those whom the Pope of Rome doth separate, it is not a man that separates them but God. For the Pope holdeth place on earth, not simply of a man but of the true God.” (Source: “Decretals of Gregory IX,” Book 1, chapter 3.)
Pope Pius V blasphemed, “The Pope and God are the same, so he has all power in Heaven and earth.” (Source: Pope Pius V, quoted in Barclay, Cities Petrus Bertanous Chapter XXVII: 218.)
Pope Leo XIII declared, “We hold upon this earth the place of God Almighty.” (Source: Pope Leo XIII Encyclical Letter, June 20, 1894)
The antichrist sea beast of Revelation points to the office of the papacy, the Popes of Rome, who controlled the Roman beast for 1,260 years, from 538-1798 AD.
Daniel 7:25 says “And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.” The Popes of Rome spoke against Elohim and proclaimed to be God. They reigned for 1,260 years, from 538-1798 AD. during which they caused tens of millions of saints to be killed.
The Pope’s title is Vicar of Christ, which in Latin is ‘Vicarius Filii Dei’, and equates numerically to the number 666
now I want to know your story!
Reminiscing and reliving a wonderful life experience can really be a great pick-me-up!

I've heard similar versions of this joke about my country's trains as well. (Bangladesh) Although the timing has improved a lot now.
🤣🤣🤣🤣 yesterday's train🤣🤣🤣
lol @ yesterdays train.
but jokes apart, both US and India have huge distances between the country corners so each has their own set of problems ,
US trains have to give way to freight trains all the time as no single entity owns the tracks , all give preference to their own traffic, then there is time zone changes which sometimes makes people misjudge the travel time
while Indian Tracks don't support high speed travel ie more than 120kmph ( though that is changing as the Railways is upgrading its infrastructure. also Indian tracks are highly utilised where any delay cascades down the line very easily and creates delays all around.
Ha ha ha ha.
LoL, being an Indian I just can't deny it. I had once experienced a cancellation of my train and on asking for the reason we were told there is some shooting scene going on so they rescheduled the trains.
I love your collabs with Will. He brings so much energy!
Me too!!
Yes! As soon as he said he was traveling with a friend, I was hoping for Will.
He really does! Excellent!!
Loving Will’s positive energy, Mike ❤️

We took this trip 4 weeks ago and the train was on time. Incredible scenery, friendly people, good food. We enjoyed it greatly.☺
I love Mike and Wills enthusiasm and happy spirits! That’s how all travel should be done!! It is all about the journey!!❤️👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
You guys have great chemistry and attitudes towards travel delays. Hope you do more trips together.

Wow, thank you!
Well said! 👏👏👏👏
Yup, you're so right, you summed it up well.
I hate to fly also and know this fear , but i have to from time to time , but when i can , i train or even bus to my next destination , you get to see so much more than from 38,000 feet ,
Not too many wonderful kids like you😄💓
I wish I had a mom who would do this with me.❤😢
@valley girl: "The one just above Oregon." Omg. There IS only ONE WA State, in the northwest! The other Washington is in District of Columbia, on the east coast. Talk abt "the dumbing-down of America"!
I want to do this with my daughter and granddaughter and son Brandon

This is why I love train travel! - You have to realize it isn't a mode of transportation but part of the adventure!
He should ride the orient express
@@jackcallahan1848 Yeah. . . You pretty much gotta treat an extended ride on Amtrak as a vacation in and of itself. To rely on it to get you from point "A" to point "B" on schedule is NOT a good idea!

I took an Amtrak room just like that from LA to Seattle. I was too close to the locomotive and the exhaust fumes came into the room’s ventilation the entire time.
Chocolate raaaaain 🍫 ☔
I took the same trip back in July of 2019. As a lifelong Southern California resident, it was cool to get to see the rest of the Pacific coast. It’s a really great experience if you don’t have diesel fumes in your room the whole time.
@@GrahamcrackerToonz The fumes were worse when the train was moving slowly through mountain passes or especially tunnels. They weren’t as bad at full speed in the open, though they were still there. It is a beautiful route. Definitely some Internet/cellphone gaps.

I love seeing everyone getting so excited over the scenery and critters in Colorado! I'm from Colorado (but currently living in Seattle) and I forget sometimes just how spectacular it is. riding on a scenic train genuinely seems so fun. everyone is so nice in your videos and you've made so many friends on the trains, whether you see them again or not. and if your train gets stuck? there's anyways more to see.
i really like your positivity.

Loving the long videos Mike. Looked so enjoyable even with the delays.
Glad you like them!

Love an update on your trip!❤
You and Will make the perfect team!! You both have wonderful personalities that compliment each other so well. You guys are so nice to everyone you meet and go out of your way to introduce yourself to the, staff I love that. Do more videos together please!!!
If nothing else convinced me to go on a train ride, this video pushed me over the edge. Loved this video ❤
I'm kinda toying with the idea of using Amtrak for my next trip across the country instead of planes. I'm not entirely sure though
You could do a YT on everyone of those small towns you traveled through. Full of genuinely wonderful, happy and friendly characters.
Like you, I saw Dylan's video last night. Such different experiences but both enjoyable reports.
Jen Brooks does a decent review/video of it as well but I prefer Mike’s presentation.
@@Bungletronics Mike Downey is a real showman with an outgoing personality that works well in this format. he could do this professionally. I don't know of Jen Brooks but now that you mentioned her I'll check out her channel.
Absolutely love when you both do videos together! It’s my nightly agenda of watching your videos and fall asleep. You help more than you will ever imagine to those , like myself that have depression. THANK YOU❤
I love how Mike reviews everything from top to bottom and doesn't miss a single detail (including the bathroom tours!), which makes this experience so much more panoramic than just watching a regular vlog.
I’ve been looking Into this trip for about 2 years. From planning the right seasons and month to either going to Seattle or San Fran, I’m convinced going to San Fran is the best choice and as Will said, it’s a lot to take in and taking it in is the best thing to do
Did you take it yet?
My first Amtrak experience was awesome, Albany to Chicago to Memphis. Loved every minute.
The friendship you all have is so fun! I’m loving this whole trip!
From bullet train 😂😂
Will seems like the coolest guy and a great friend to have always smiling 😊
I've watched this video multiple times. Whenever I feel a bit down, this is the best pick-me-up on TH-cam.
Same
Travelling with Will Edmond Must have been an amazing experience as much as it was to watch !! Awesome Video 💯💯👍👍🙏🙏
It was!
I laughed most of the way through. The delays!!! My wife and I had the same experience on the Zephyr, what a journey.
42 minutes of DownieLive?! Let's GOOOOOOO!!
Cheers!
I was having a kinda bummer day, going through a lot of crap right now and I came across this video...now I'm smiling and feelin' happier...thanks!
You got this!
That looks like so much fun! Having a buddy to travel with makes it more special. Great channel!
I am so glad that you got off and got the train the next day! The Sierras are too beautiful to miss.
Cheers!
Love the energy! Thank you for the video
Annoying
This is my most favorite video on your channel! Made me subscribe in the first place! Already rewatched it a couple times as well
Thanks so much. I appreciate that a lot.
Great video. Two good friends having a ince in a lifetime adventure! Fantastic!
Oh wow, the Zephyr is a nice scenic ride, but notorious for being delayed! All aboard!👍✌️👏
@@jhooahwife "Amtrak is usually late" would imply they're late more often than they're on time. What's your source for that statistic? Do you take Amtrak regularly?
@@jimc5694 I have had a trip cancelled and had to take the next train a day later due to flash flooding on the tracks. If you are in a hurry, FLY. But I have had a flight cancelled as well. Whatever form of travel, plan to get to your destination a day early, if not more. Enjoy your ride, don't fret over delays...
@@ronclark9724 Welcome to travel in the USA
@@karenftx1 Yeah, I used to take it home from college. It was supposed to be about 6 hours home, but it was more regularly 8. And those delays only compound as the journey goes on. I remember there was someone on the train once who had been on since California five days ago. She was pissed because she hadn't showered in five days.
One of the best YT videos I've seen in a while.
I love when you go on trips with Will!! It’s been a long time coming!!
I had the distinct pleasure of taking this exact trip 5 years ago but in reverse, I went from California to Chicago, and caught another train from Chicago back home to NJ. This honestly made me day, not sure why this cropped up in my recommended but I'm glad it did. +1 sub can't wait to see more adventures, also hello from CA where I live permanently now
I was smiling the entire video in amazement! I felt like I was traveling with y’all☺️
I’ve been waiting for the two of you to go on another adventure again. This is one of the best vlogs I’ve ever seen hands down. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾🙌🏾
Dude Will seems like the perfect travel buddy, looks like you guys had a great and relaxing time. Excited to take Amtrak with some of my friends soon
This was an extremely enjoyable watch guys!
You did an excellent, excellent job.
I look forward to watching more videos from you two! ❤👍
