Giving Pincurchin Volt Switch would be a massive improvement on its own, I feel. I have no idea why it can't learn that in the first place other than Game Freak probably meaning to set it up for failure. Not to mention it never got Rising Voltage back. It and Alolan Raichu 100% deserved to keep that move.
Some Pokemon are just destined to be bad. Besides Pincurchin, Banette comes to mind as one that just keeps getting screwed over: Not fast but not slow enough for trick room; frail; mono-Ghost that debuted when Dark was taking off (With no Fighting coverage besides Hidden Power); gets a Mega in gen 6 that doesn't fix its most glaring problems and is designed to sacrifice itself; Prankster nerf against those dark types in gen 7; Mega taken away in gen 8; no boosting move until Gen 9.
Electric Terrain has been already bad comparing to a weather like Sun, or even other kinds of terrains. - It can be removed with Defog and Ice Spinner. The later is seen everywhere. - Electric Terrain offers no real benefit like the other kinds of terrain. Sleep immunity is just a discounted version of misty terrain’s all status immunity. - Electric move boost is nice, but then you realise that the only Rising Voltage user is Raging Bolt, which would rather hit things under Sun for proto boost or rain for Thunder and Weather Ball. - No defensive utility like Grassy terrain or Sun. Grassy reduces damage from Earthquake, which is very popular, while Sun cuts down damage for water moves.
Out of the power boosting field effects: Sun has Torkoal, Rain has Pelipper, Grassy Terrain has Rillaboom, and Psychic Terrain has Indeedee Torkoal is tanky and can work in trick room Pelliper has U-turn Rillaboom has *looks at list* a lot of stuff Indeedee can set Trick Room and has a whole playstyle called "Psyspam" And then there's Pincurchin who doesn't even get Volt Switch I do think it would be cool if we got a Water/Electric starter with Electric Surge as it's hidden ability

Pincurchin's Electric Surge ability has caused Zombie Iron Man's suit to short circuit. This will have profound implications on the OU metagame as we know it.
What hurts the most is this thing can’t even be a proper nuke anymore thanks to this thing getting and losing the move “Rising Voltage” which was only in the game for Gen 8 and lost access to it in 9…and then raging bolt stole its fame, cuz gamefreak bias. It's so wild that it didn't get Rising Voltage, they put Rising voltage in gen 9 only for Raging Bolt to learn for some reason, a move it will almost never use because it has better, more reliable electric type moves.
@@TheFreshestResh You're not wrong but we have plenty of below-average Mono-electric mons and most of the dual-types are legendaries, gimmicks, or used on once and forgotten.
