    I was soooo proud of rory here! For years rory pretty much defended her grandparents' behavior towards Lorelei even as she saw how it affected her so to see her finally stick it to emily was so satisfying! The best part of it was rory wasn't being necessarily rude, she just wasn't as lively as emily is used to seeing her.

    OMG! I've been waiting forever for this scene to be posted. Rory's relationship with Luke is special, extra special. He's been there for her throughout most (if not all) of her life. She admires and respects him. What Emily orchestrated at the wedding with Christopher was beyond spiteful and hateful. Classic Emily Gilmore. Now that she and Richard are back from their honeymoon, she expects things to go back to "normal." I applaud Rory for standing up to her grandmother. Lord knows it's long overdue.

    Lorelai would've loved to have seen that fight between Emily and Rory and Emily had no right to do what she did I mean interfering with Lorelai's personal relationship I mean if Luke was abusive toward Lorelai or Rory I'd understand Emily's point of view but he adores them both and treats both with love and respect and Emily needs to mind her own business

    Emily was a cartoon villain in season 5. She completely deserved the hostility that she received from both Lorelai and Rory, and got off lightly.
    Bear in mind that when she went to see Christopher, she said that she didn't even like him and didn't think much of him. She valued his precious Hayden name and background. So she did what she did, trying to sabotage her adult daugher's happy relationship, out of pathetic snobbery, and not maternal concern.

    • @Quirkyalonester
      @Quirkyalonester หลายเดือนก่อน +19

      And if I'm correct this was after Emily read that letter from Richard's mother and found out Trix had told Richard shouldn't marry Emily. You would have thought after that she would not only understand how it feels. And that was only Trix sending a letter not going and telling the other person to show up at an event where the couple would be and try to get them to dump their partner to be with them.

      What she did was awful and it made clear, more than ever, why her daughter always kept her out of her personal life. But Emily's plan wouldn't have worked if Christopher didn't involve himself, if Lorelai wouldn't have hidden going to Christopher's house from Luke when she had no reason to, and if Luke would have listened to Lorelai instead of acting like a child.
      Emily got the ball rolling, but without all these other characters acting like morons, she wouldn't have succeeded on her own.

    I’m so proud of Rory! Just because she’s speaking her mind for once doesn’t mean that this isn’t her. Everyone around her (her grandparents, her mother, and the people of Stars Hollow) sheltered and protected her from the real world… this is why she started acting out. It’s literally the only reason. Also, I’ll forever defend her actions. She was going through realistic things throughout the show, and I honestly deeply related to her at times because I went through a similar journey (excluding the dropping out of college stuff but I was very close to doing it because of the quarter-life crisis I had) Anyway, I don’t care what anyone says!!! She’s such a great character to analyze :)

    The Grandparents forgot the relationship of Rory and her mother AND the relationship of Rory and Luke.
    They never saw Luke helped lorely raising Rory up and they never saw the Love between Rory and Luke and they never respected Luke in the first place. Just because Emily does not like Luke he does not fit in her wish for a perfect husband for her Daugther.
    So Emily made a Huge Mistake to try to put
    Lorely and Christopher together again. It may be her biggest wish from the heart but she destroyed everithing she had with her Daugther and Granddaugther later we learn that they come together again but it will take time.
    Rory was very satifieng in this scene.
    I knew she would keep to her mother and to Luke.
    But she did it so powerful and eloquently.
    One of the best Episodes of this Series.

      When Lorelei's Dad paid her the dividends from an investment he made in her name when she was born, that pushed Rory out of the price bracket for financial aid to pay for tuition at Yale. Lorelei took that money and paid her parents back for them paying for Chilton. Of course this pissed off Emily. (No surprise.) After some back and forth, Rory was out of options to pay for Yale. The day of her high school graduation, about an hour or so before the ceremony, Rory visited her grandparents house and pitched her case. The money was to be a Loan. Paid back beginning 5-years after she graduated from college. (Giving her enough time to save up and establish herself as a journalist.) While Rory insisted she be charged interest, her grandfather declined. The clutch to the arrangement was to reinstate Friday Night Dinners. (By this time they were no longer an option because of the Chilton loan repayment.) Anyway, fast forward to when Richard and Emily discovered Lorelei's relationship with Jason (Digger). That didn't work out, which set-up the relationship with Luke (Finally). Once the fog lifted over the Jason issue, Emily and Richard reconciled and planned an elaborate Vow Renewal Ceremony. Just before the wedding, Emily dropped by Christopher's apartment to entice/invite him to the wedding. All of which goes HORRIBLY WRONG and Luke leaves angry and heartbroken. The whole incident makes me pissed 😡 off just thinking about it. Lorelei tries to explain and make things better, but Luke needs time apart. Lorelei is found alone, crying in her room. Rory comes back to Stars Hollow to cheer her up. During their honeymoon, Emily sends back postcards from their trip, which both Rory and Lorelei ignore. (And rightly so.) Finally leading the Smack Down Emily Gilmore so richly deserved.
      Actually, the Smack Down Lorelei gives Emily at Luke's Diner is a solid 1000 in it's own right!

    Roary’s being an ass to her grandmother here. what happened between her mother and her grandmother is between them,this is no way to speak to an elder especially your own grandmother.she sounds like she’s spoiled and raised to be a brat which is a reflection of her mothers training,people can call lorali an independent individual who wanted space from her family but in reality she was a spoiled,selfish little teenager who wasted her life by disrespecting and disobeying her parents by first getting herself pregnant and then running away instead of handling it maturely and responsibly like she should have.everyone feels suffocated in different family dynamics but that doesn’t exempt you from your responsibility to that family.it doesn’t give you the right to run away and cut everyone off.lorali permanently damaged her relationship with her family as well her daughter’s.

      I don't hear you saying Emily's behavior was right.Plus Emily made it a condition of paying for Yale that Rory attend Friday night dinner.So what do you call that kind of behavior in that she was manipulating her granddaughter to spend time with her.

    • @Aldrius
      @Aldrius หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@aph1976 I mean that's not manipulating her, that's a condition of her paying for her college. In all honesty, she probably shouldn't *have* to do that to get her to spend time with her, in both ways. Rory should spend time with her grandmother (who, incidentally loves her and is very generous toward her) and Emily should work on her relationship with her daughter so she doesn't have to do that.
      But also like... the idea that Emily could be responsible for breaking up Luke and Lorelai is kind of ridiculous and childish.

      Age shouldn't matter. "Respect your elders" only counts if they respect me and if my grandmother did what Emily did I would also not be fond of her and treating her coldly.
      Applying your own logic, Emily shouldn't have gotten involved in Lorelai's relationship with Luke considering it was between her and Luke.
