- So, the house is already sold and the buyer is chill with the kitchen being unfinished BUT it turns out we still need to install counters and cabinets or we can't close on the house!

Although you are leaving the house unfinished, there are so many things you've done that really improved the house (new roof, expansion, crawl space, etc). Some of those projects are not as visible as a new kitchen, but at least now the new owner doesn't have to worry about the bones of the house.
The Jingle Bells music was an interesting choice for the dishwasher install. 😂👍🏻
I was confused when I heard Jingle Bells playing...kind of like when you drive by a house in July and see Christmas lights up and on...Anyway, gave me a good chuckle 😊

Oh my goodness! Our faucet fell apart while our house was under contract too! (Among other things suddenly going wrong, it was SUCH a stressful time for us.) We would joke that the house was revolting because we were leaving. 😂

It would have been so fun if we had been finishing house projects/packing/cleaning with you last year when we were getting ready to move TO North Carolina. I was on TH-cam trying to find motivation to declutter and pack. Even still, I watching this almost a year after we were doing a lot of this is still a good opportunity to let a lot of those emotions come up and really process them.
We used the exact same countertops for a temporary run of cabinets in our kitchen, and we are also surprised how nice they are for how affordable they are. Makes such a huge difference!
For me when I watched the Ninja Crawl Space installation that was a great upgrade to this home that I bet most homes don't have. So happy the house sold in minutes!

I have dated off white laminate countertops and I love the light they reflect, but we do need to do repairs and upgrades, I’ll still want something in a white shade because of the light in my kitchen and island. Great job!

I have white laminate countertops. They were here when I moved in twenty years ago and I always planned to replace them but honestly they still look pristine, no scratches or stains.
Just remember God has you in his hands and everything will work out great in the end. I look forward to following this next journey. I do have to admit I am sad seeing you leave behind the island. I love my antiques! With all this experience your next place will be easier and quicker.
The trick I’ve discovered along the way is to not use the suggested amount of detergent. We have begun to use very diluted detergent and the dishes are much cleaner.

The cabinets are perfect for now. They give the new folks time to decide exactly what they want and how they plan to build out the kitchen. We have the same dishwasher that was in our house when we bought it and we had the same reaction after the first load that we finished 😅😅😅. And then at the end of the dry cycle ours actually plays a short little song to let us know it’s done! 😮 gotta love technology

My husband is a contractor. I can't tell you how many times we've had to pick something up for a job and haul it home in our suv and to have it fit it goes between us. Guttering or boards... I always tell him, "I feel like something has come between us." It's kind of our thing. 😆

A bittersweet situation. Sometimes it is hard not to "finish" a project, but that is the right thing in this situation. And at the very least, you will get to enjoy a functional kitchen for the last month--which is sure to be hectic and you will appreciate the functionality even more!

I love the idea of the binder! We had someone do that for us on one of our houses, and it was so nice and helpful!!
I think it's a neat idea to leave your vision board so to speak in a binder for the new owner. And it would be neat if the new owner sent you pics of the finished kitchen with her vision to see how she finalizes it and/or follows through w your inspiration on the stove top built in etc. Its been a labor of love for your whole family, but so will the next home whatever route you go... fixer upper or move in ready with just the fun of personalizing it with your decor and furnishings. Eager to see where life leads the Knorps from here. Where ever it does, may peace, good health, & blessings follow! Love you all!

I actually like those open shelves except I guess one would have to keep them sort of tidy-ish. The white counters look good too. I hope you are taking that island piece of furniture with you. It's so cool. I love that the dishwasher makes Mike so happy! I would guess that the door popping open and a ventilation fan is an energy saving feature to aid finishing up drying the dishes without heat.
Are you taking the “kitchen island” with you or leaving it behind? It’s such an amazing piece of furniture I hate to think that the new owners would just get rid of it. 😐🐈🐈⬛💖🌈
