I am not a gamer but I am a boomer and recall when this game 1st came out and it took a lot of folks down who thought they were the alpha of gaming. So to see this 13 yr old kid who looks like he just an all around good kid dedicate this to his dad I am all for it. We just may be looking at our next Bill Gales or Zuckerberg. Kid I wish you all the best but you are so blessed to have great parents and they are blessed to have you. I'm glad the mom sees potential in her kid for what he loves to do, I played competitive games as a kid and its truly something you will never forget. Now we even get news coverage over it.
i love how this happened like 2 weeks ago and all the news stations are just now picking it up. there were literal youtube documentaries made of this game and this kids achievement, before a single news station even noticed it.
They didn't mention that he scored over 6.8 Million points after calculation, which is also a world record by a few hundred thousand. Also just wanna say Scuti is the coolest, nicest guy ever! He's very humble and respects everyone. Hope to catch you at Waco, bro!

Heard mention of this on a national radio program (America's First News) and found this en route to mention that to the community. This is the first classic Tetris achiever story I've seen picked up by the media, possibly first ever.
Congrats to the kid because Tetris was designed to be unbeatable. I don't think the Tetris on Nintendo is as fast as the Tetris on Gameboy. The final level is so fast that our brains are incapable of sorting blocks so quickly without making a mistake.
You're thinking of the Tengen version, which caps at 3 frames for pieces to fall 1 tile, equivalent to levels 16-18 in Nintendo's version. The Nintendo version caps at 1 frame per 1 tile, which is called 1G in modern Tetris. I think Game Boy caps at 2 frames per 1 tile (0.5G) or equivalent to levels 19-28 on Nintendo's NES version.

For decades everyone thought the highest level you could get to was 29, and that it wasn't humanly possible to press the buttons fast enough to get to level 30. Then in 2011 someone made it to level 30 for the first time using a special hand technique on the controller to push the buttons really fast. August of 2022 is the first time someone made it to above level 100, and this kid (Blue Scuti) is the first person ever to make it to level 157 and crash the game. Another competitive Tetris player named Fractal has already managed to get to the crash though; about 17 hours ago as I write this.
The game could only show 999,999. HIs actual score was 6.8 Million. A world record.

The score stops keeping track at 999999 he actually had over six million in this game.
