    Here you go, street photography straight out of the camera, no editing at all : no exposure adjustment whatsoever, no cropping, no shadows boost, no blacks boost, no contrast... just white borders around the shots. Let me know what you think :)
    Thank you Antoine for the wonderful portrait, really appreciate it ! :)

    Hey Octavian! Another fruitful photo walk.. I think you just nailed that more simplistic approach to street photography. No cropping, too is an extra challenge and you did a fantastic job with those restraints. I really like the rendering of most these images! Also, surprised by how sharp the old 18 looks... Keep up the good work! :) 👌🏼

      Thank you Robin ! appreciate it ! :) The 18 it is okish but you have to take in consideration that I shot at f8, f 11, and f 16. I guess wide open at f2 it's less sharp. But nevertheless a great lens for street photography :) . Merci !

    Quality post, Octavian. You seemed more confident with the early high-contrast images than in the crowded “touristy” segments. Favs include 26 for simplicity and bit of color, 31 for candor, and 19 shadow play. What were you trying for with the “fail” smoker? 14 and 22, layering of t-shirt images almost work, IMO. For high-contrast silhouettes do you use exposure compensation?
    Shy of in-computer editing, you might try bringing a few of your RAW files into your basic smartphone photo viewer (Photos in iOS/Gallery in Android) for quick global edits. For a long time I thought RAW files would not display or be recognized, let alone edited, but they are, now. Edited copies should be saved as JPGs, of course. (Might make for a unique YT post.)
    Clever train to bring you food. (Hope you are off your diet by now😊.) Cheers!

    • @OctavianCarare
      @OctavianCarare  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you Paul :) The first picture with the fail smoker the framing was terrible :). I do use exposure compensation yes, I under expose the shots yes. I will give it a thought regarding the process of editing :). Well, after my trip back home in Romania I need to get back on the diet. It's a must :). Thank you for watching ! Hope you will like the next video from my hometown :)

    Hi Octavian. When you shoot with the XE4, and get close to people with the 18mm lens, do you use the normal shutter or switch to the electronic shutter? Love your high contrast images by the way. There is a Alex Webb vibe to them.

    • @OctavianCarare
      @OctavianCarare  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Luis ! Thanks for the kind words. I use both mechanical and electronic shutter. There is a setting in the menu that you can turn on. If you have moving subjects or if you move your camera when shooting try not using the electronic shutter :). Cheers !

      Hi Elliot ! Well I am sucker for the fuji film simulations and I got a pretty good deal on a second hand XE4. And I wanted a camera that I can take everywhere with me (the Q2 is very expensive and wouldn't carry it to the gym with me). Thank you for your comments :)

    I don’t get this whole snapshot straight out of camera “nothing needs to be done” cliches style of “street photography”.
    Taking the picture is only the beginning.

    • @OctavianCarare
      @OctavianCarare  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Carlos :) that’s the theme of the video :) editing can enhance severely the pictures, even if it’s a simple crop :). I wanted to challenge myself and not edit the pictures . That’s all :) still a cliché though

    • @carlosmcse
      @carlosmcse ปีที่แล้ว

      @@OctavianCarare I mean, this concept is very popular with Fuji users (as you can see from the responses here). They believe it is the ultimate to just go out, take snapshots in JPEG with a film simulation and say “this is all straight out of camera”.
      My opinion is this thinking is why 99.9% of photography is so bad and weak derivative garbage nowadays. It’s the difference between taking a photo and making a photo.
      To quote Ansel Adams: “‘When I’m ready to make a photograph, I think I quite obviously see in my minds eye something that is not literally there in the true meaning of the word. I’m interested in something which is built up from within, rather than just extracted from without.’”
      Pressing the shutter is only the beginning.

    • @OctavianCarare
      @OctavianCarare  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I agree with you Carlos and disagree as well. Fuji has this particularity of film simulations that look very good straight out of the camera, you are basically having edited pictures without going into a editing software. Sometimes street photography is about that snapshot, it happens so quickly that you barely have time to frame and compose. If you are into landscape photography as Ansel Adams well that’s a different thing :).

    • @carlosmcse
      @carlosmcse ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@OctavianCarare This is for “street” or landscapes or any photo. He’s saying you shoot from within not without. If you’re just snapping at stuff then you’re shooting for a style. On the streets you have all the time in the world. If you pay attention and observe you’ll see the moments before they happen. You will see them coming a mile away.
      I don’t like the term Street Photography because it really doesn’t mean anything.

    • @OctavianCarare
      @OctavianCarare  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@carlosmcse I disagree regarding having all the time in the world on the streets but that's my opinion. I agree with you though, if you don't put any soul and shooting from within you are just snapping pointless :)
