Learned a trick from a computer repair guy years ago . if pins missing rob some pins from a old CPU buy heating with a solder gun and put in the holes that match up with cpu pin locations . what he dose is wrap the pin shaft once or twice with fine sewing thread to make like a spring washer effect to make pin makes good contact with cpu missing pin location. have did this with a cpu with 6 pins missing and was amazed it worked and is still working in one of my computers
also... im having the same issue now with my 2 dual dimm slots, similarly to your problem. Hi i just got a B550plus tuf motherbord and i broke MB_DQS_L[3] pin on my ryzen 5 3600 . what kind of ram should i use and what should i do for the time being ? :/
Ok so I built my pc cpu dropped in 1st try its a ryzen 5 5600g all parts are brand new and when I turn my pc on all I get is a black screen and I can't enter bios and I need to enter into bios to download Windows
Would a pc start even if the cpu was broken? I was installing it and heard something i didnt like. I dont have all the parts so i borrowed my little sisters parts just for a moment. It asked me to plug in a boot device but i dont have one currently. It didnt read my hdd. But thats as far as i got. It kept shutting off after. I also dont have a cpu cooler at the moment. Is that cuz it got too hot? Or is my cpu dead?
@@PCTechHustle no it would just say plug in boot device. But i dont have boot device with windows on it. I still need to download the media creation tool thing. Im just going to have to see once i have everything in hand. Only thing im worried about is my 5800x having bent pins. It does fit securely in spot so i think it should be good
You likely broke off an important pin. Some people have gotten away with clipping off a pin from a donor CPU and putting that pin into the motherboard and reinstalling the CPU…. however that is a bit of a dicy move. If it’s not an expensive CPU I would just buy a new one.
I meant to do a follow up video on this one. Basically to get the CPU to a state like where is seems like you are at and use a donor CPU to salvage pins from. I might come back to that idea. But the idea is you get maybe an old FX style CPU and drop in a pin in the location missing on your CPU into that pin slot on your motherboard and if all works out you are back in business. I have no idea how well that may work but could be an option for you without having to replace the CPU completely.
@@PCTechHustle I'm a hypocrite, I actually met a guy at a gas station at a nearby town just before Christmas and did a deal on a 1070ti to stick in a build for a friend...I got away with it the card has been running fine 😅 how quickly times have changed though, I got that for €300. Now I'd be lucky to get the same card for 450 😑
this is why i dont get ryzen i dont trust myself enough to not bend the pins. Love ryzen but oof. Im rocking a i3-10100 with 16gb of ram at 2666, ssd m.2 1tb with a rtx 2060 super and a good ol EVGA 600 80+ white and im happy with the build. keep up the great videos!
Yeah the pin-on-grid design is a bit nerve racking but I find Intel just as scary as those pins on the board are much more fragile. Either way you have to be careful!
Great Video... I recently upgraded my main PC from a Ryzen 5 1600 to a Ryzen 6 4600g w/ new Stock heatsink... I got a nice little performance boost, had 0 issues.. tossed the old heatsink and kept the 1600. My main rig is now the 4600g/32gb gskill DDR4/Geforce 1660 GTX on an ASUS B350-F w/ the latest Bios Firmware/Flashed. I had a lot of extra unused hardware and an old B350-F mobo I got cheap off eBay. I tossed the 1600 onto it and seemed to have no issues installing the CPU w/ a new stock heatsink... but the board wouldn't light up/start... do anything. I probably should have tested it before spending the time putting the CPU/Heatsink on. I tried a few things but chalked it up to a DOA board.. oh well $28 down the drain. I got an ASUS A320 Mobo off Amazon and it arrived DOA, wouldn't hold power, I did the same darn mistake putting the CPU/Heatsink on... eventually RMA'd the board back for a refund. I ordered another A320 (MSI) and I tried testing it before putting the CPU in... it had power, "booted up" or at least spun the fans letting me know it was alive, somewhat. But I tried the onboard video HDMI, then VGA and nothing was displaying. I figured let me put the CPU in and see if it will boot up... everything was spinning but nothing was displaying, I even tried my 1660 GTX via PCI and still nothing... cleared CMOS, etc... I tried using the EZBug LED's to see if they would light up and indicate anything, I removed the RAM and it should have lit up but did not.. so I chalked it up to Damaged and Returned via RMA (again). After tossing this 1600 into 2-3 boards that did not work I'm starting to question whether it's the CPU or the boards... I had little to no expectations for the old B350 I got off eBay, some clown got me I can only blame myself. The first A320 mobo was just DOA, the 2nd one though was very weird... I don't know why it wouldn't show any video. After inspecting the 1600 I realized 1 pin was missing, one was slightly bent but easily fixed w/ a razor blade and gentle pressure. But I can see one pin is clearly missing and I probably lost it in the B350 or one of the A320's... I noticed with one of the A320's that it wasn't dropping in and staying tightly secure, it took a few attempts to get it flat... that's when I realized I better inspect the pins. I am stubborn and ordered another A320 (Gigabyte) that will arrive next week from China.. it was via NewEgg (or one of their resellers) and I'm a little worried about tossing the 1600 into it... I can always grab another Ryzen CPU whether higher or lower end as long as it's under $60'sh.. I just don't want to spend $150 on another chip.. Heck I got the 4600g for $99 on Black Friday. tldr My question is if I connect the Gigabyte A320 motherboard to my display via HDMI or VGA/DVI withOUT the CPU in... Will the motherboard display anything? Even if it's just to show me the logo and enter the Bios settings... I just really don't want to toss this chip into a new board and break it. I'm 100% sure the old B350F I tried was DOA, I'm 100% sure the 1st A320 mobo I tried was DOA, but I'm still 50/50 on the MSI A320 I tried last... I really thought it would work but after trying without the CPU receiving No Display.. even after waiting patiently for a few minutes... then trying w/ the CPU intact 100% w/ Heatsink installed. I was thinking "darn the onboard video doesn't work.. let me try my PCI GPU", but after that failed to Display anything I gave up. After trying to test/play around with the EZBug LED's provided on the board and receiving no lights, just trying to trigger something (faulty RAM, CPU, etc..) nothing would light up (or not light up) it was just all dead... so much for EZBug Diagnostics. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I wish I could post a picture of the CPU here to display the one missing pin... I know I probably damaged the 1600cpu on either the B350F or one of the A320's. Obviously it wasn't lost in my main rig as I would have had immediate issues with my good B350-F board I'm using currently.. This systems running great and I was hoping to build something out of some scraps, actually brand new DDR4 RAM, PSU, and welp tried 2 "new" motherboards and nada.... Should I just buy a cheap Ryzen 3/5 similar to the 1600 and save myself a headache... or should I try one more board?
