No denying Angelina understood complex human emotions at an early age. She also seemed to understand other mature issues, such as drug abuse. She is 10 years old here and around this age she met with Gene Simmons of KISS who told her that he NEVER did drugs or drank alcohol. That was a good lesson for her and she spoke about that encounter a couple times since.

Nicely done Nick. I compare Angelina to an elite athlete at the top of his game where it is said he is "in the zone" or "staying in the moment". It's as if she is here, yet simultaneously in another dimension where time moves slowly and there are no distractions, no self-consciousness or other limiting forces. Once the music starts she is surfing a wave with perfect balance and timing, and the ability to effortlessly emote the perfect sounds to convey the story and the emotions that accompany it. It's a pleasure to welcome you to her journey, it has enriched us all.
I think your best approach would be to start with her four Norway's Got Talent performances: Gloomy Sunday, I'm a Fool to Want You, Bang Bang, Summertime. Great and careful reaction Nick. In Angelina's inspiration and musical research, Amy occupies a truly special place, also for this reason it is a bond that listening to her often comes spontaneously to the mind, given the splendid jazz-soul connotation of both. Angelina has sung several of Amy's songs and often as she did here, she had to edit the lyrics herself, due to Amy's particularly raw language, however her versions of her songs are always extremely respectful and balanced, thanks to the wonderful passion with which she sings them. 💛 🧡 ❤

Nick, for some reason this is Angelina's most soothing song to me . . . I relax whenever I hear it. That is probably due to the nice steady beat combined with her warm voice within a quite limited vocal and dynamic range -- and the strings. It's quite hypnotic. Plus I feel that she is addressing her relationship with Amy as someone who she admires and loves from a distance -- and who suffered for Amy as she learned what her personal life was like. 😢 BTW, Angelina was 5 when Amy left this earth.
Angelina's Mother Sarah Astar was not happy with the lyrics of the song as being too adult. She insisted Angelina change them if she wanted to do the song. Angelina finished writing them in the car on the way to the recording. My understanding is that they fit so well that KORK had no need to change the arrangement and that to me is astonishing! Angelina's roots are in Jazz. She been listening and studying these icons from the past century since she was 2-3 yrs old on you-Tube. Also Angelina arranges, at least in part, if not in total, total control of all her performances. She has since she was 7-8 yrs old. She knows what she wants and gets exactly what she wants out of the artists and musicians she works with, many of them who are some of the most accomplished in the industry. ♥👣 Some have referred to this as a rehearsal and I will be happy to be corrected by someone who Knows but I suspect this was no rehearsal but a scheduled performance with recording this performance being the purpose. KORK is the Norwegian National Orchestra known as the Norwegian Radio Orchestra & I don't believe I have heard this performed with this arrangement with these particular members in a live event. She did do a live performance of "Summertime" with the full Orchestra. Correct me if I'm wrong. I have recently learned that KORK actually contacted Angelina for the purpose of this recording plus several others. I'm guessing National Orchestra requested her because of her talent and because she was declared by Norway as a National Treasure shortly after winning Norway's Got Talent. I believe this booking was arranged for the purpose of this recording. It's on her Album as well as others for a project KORK was doing. Thus the scheduled time slot. I'm guessing the arrangement was made ahead of time and each party was working with this. Angelina was informed the night before I believe and had the night and next day before the performance to make the changes. I believe she worked on it that evening but didn't quite finish it. She visited an amusement park on the day of and before the performance. I've watched video of her in an interview at the park with a friend. It looks like they had the whole park to themselves. She finished the lyrics on the ride to the recording session. The remarkable thing is that the lyrics fit so well they had no need to change the arrangement. I believe this performance was the second take. Again I will be happy to be corrected on this if I am wrong but regardless this performance was typical Angelina Magic. Smooth Velvet Perfection! ♥👣If there is a performance and a recording of it I'd love to see & or hear it. I know she did it live a time or two but not with these members and this arrangement. ♥👣
The barefoot princess is absolutely a musical genius. I’m 55 years old. I have been following her for over nine years. She is absolutely the best singer I’ve ever heard in my life. Absolutely an angel sent from heaven. Inside and out she is absolutely a beautiful person.
Shes had the best accompaniment, bands, orchestras, writers, business legends all around her in every year. She’s a treasure that im sure is being protected in ways we dont know.

Great reaction Nick. She was required (by mom) to improvise the lyrics because the original was too adult themed. She had only 24 hours and was finishing the improv on the way back to the studio. Thus, the need to read the new lyrics in the performance. Pretty impressive. She is such a professional.

Y’know… I’ve always been impressed by Angelina’s performance, and I know part of her doggedness in seeing this to completion is due to her love and passion for Amy (yes, even at this young age she knew that Amy had a very troubled life), but I’ve also underestimated how truly remarkable her rewrite is. This song was not only “adult themed”, it’s lyrics were downright vulgar in places. And to think that not only did Angelina stay up late to revise the lyrics, this ten year old Norwegian girl was creating lyrics in English. At an age where we Americans are just learning about poetry, Angelina is essentially reworking poetry in her SECOND language. Truly remarkable.
English is her third language: Norwegian, Farsi, English, Swedish, Japanese. Now apparently she’s learning Spanish in school and recently sang a TikTok song in Spanish. Reportedly, she did a good job of it!

@@nickforell1 it greatly depended on where I was working at the time. I was in Las Vegas for years, so I sang quite a bit of standards, light, jazz, some pop, and some country. After I retired, I came back to Michigan to be close to family.

She’s ten years old here, and her mother objected to the original lyrics, so she rewrote them on the way to the rehearsal. That’s why she was looking at her sheets on the stand. The name of the song is Back to Black, and she changed it to Back in Love. Of course, Amy’s version is very dark, so Angelina changed the darkness to love! You definitely need to watch Amy’s video so you can compare the two. I think she knocked it out of the park, and this is one of my favorites. When you re-watch this, notice the male violinist watching her. He seems mesmerized also!
I’ve just listened to a dozen or so of ANGELina Mash-ups with the original artists and I truly understand why she is called “The Barefoot Angel of a Thousand Voices”. (Angelina was 10 yo here). Nick, my friend, some of us realized, that she is not only musicaly a genius. The way she writes and speaks, is a clear indicator, that she is highly intelligent. Believe me, or not, I had the honor to meet such kids, while doing a guided tour through our zoo. I saw one reviewer say recently that she is the reincarnation of Elvis. I know he meant it to be a compliment. But not to minimize the massive talent that Elvis had. AJ is no reincarnation of anyone. She is truly a musical prodigy; Elvis, and most other performers of that caliber, has NEVER possessed her musical understanding to a level that allows her to create musical arrangements that fit her vocal skills perfectly while still honoring the original author’s intent in the piece. In addition, she is fluent in many languages (English is her third language, actually), and she constantly increases that list. She is also a multi-instrumentalist, currently proficient in piano, guitar, and keyboards, and, I suspect, synthesizer as well. On top of that, she is a dedicated Altruist in the most accurate definition of the term, and she has been all her life, with no coaxing or prodding from others around her. She possesses these beliefs naturally as part of her natural being.
You could say that this old man has nothing but admiration for this spectacular human being. And I consider it a blessing that I have witnessed her early growth as an entertainer and a human being.
I just love your sensibilities when critiquing songcraft and singing ability both of which Amy and Angelina came born with, in spades. It’s wild. Altho I am sure they learned much of it, vaulting from ability as a springboard like gymnasts in the Olympics. They both spoke so eloquently from the heart tho and that captures me every time. Mesmerized and stunned … no wonder the orchestra rallied to finally clap a bit. Under the spell as they were.

It was pointed out in another reaction that the point of reference between Amy’s singing and Angelina’s is completely opposite. Amy sang and composed from a reference of pain an hurt while Angelina performs from perspective of love and caring. If compare Amy’s lyrics to Angelina’s you’ll find that the title and arrangement are about all that is left of the original. 10 years old? Did this in a day?

I don't think Amy's last name has an H in it. Also .. remember that the Angels are insanely devoted. I cannot imagine an Angel who has not seen this at least 30-50 times. She liked her voice .. Amy's voice .. she most probably didn't know much about her for a while .. but I'm sure she knows her story now. If she liked a singer, she worked a huge amount of time figuring out how they made that sound and would try it over and over and over until she got it. She started all this when she was two .. and was doing it for hours a day .. totally strange amount of focus for a little one that age. But she is a child prodigy, a musical genius. She pretty much always rearranges her own covers -- as was clear with Bohemian Rhapsody, for example. Having to take that song down to 2 and a half minutes .. and she did it. Queen were blown away and told her they'd seen her cover and that she was welcome to cover any of their songs she wants. A bit later they GAVE her the rights to her own version. Pretty amazing. Nick, for some reason this is Angelina's most soothing song to me . . . I relax whenever I hear it. That is probably due to the nice steady beat combined with her warm voice within a quite limited vocal and dynamic range -- and the strings. It's quite hypnotic. Plus I feel that she is addressing her relationship with Amy as someone who she admires and loves from a distance -- and who suffered for Amy as she learned what her personal life was like. 😢 BTW, Angelina was 5 when Amy left this earth.

Angelina's Mother Sarah Astar was not happy with the lyrics of the song as being too adult. She insisted Angelina change them if she wanted to do the song. Angelina finished writing them in the car on the way to the recording. My understanding is that they fit so well that KORK had no need to change the arrangement and that to me is astonishing! Angelina's roots are in Jazz. She been listening and studying these icons from the past century since she was 2-3 yrs old on you-Tube. Also Angelina arranges, at least in part, if not in total, total control of all her performances. She has since she was 7-8 yrs old. She knows what she wants and gets exactly what she wants out of the artists and musicians she works with, many of them who are some of the most accomplished in the industry. ♥👣
Some have referred to this as a rehearsal and I will be happy to be corrected by someone who Knows but I suspect this was no rehearsal but a scheduled performance with recording this performance being the purpose. KORK is the Norwegian National Orchestra known as the Norwegian Radio Orchestra & I don't believe I have heard this performed with this arrangement with these particular members in a live event. She did do a live performance of "Summertime" with the full Orchestra. Correct me if I'm wrong. I have recently learned that KORK actually contacted Angelina for the purpose of this recording plus several others. I'm guessing National Orchestra requested her because of her talent and because she was declared by Norway as a National Treasure shortly after winning Norway's Got Talent. I believe this booking was arranged for the purpose of this recording. It's on her Album as well as others for a project KORK was doing. Thus the scheduled time slot. I'm guessing the arrangement was made ahead of time and each party was working with this. Angelina was informed the night before I believe and had the night and next day before the performance to make the changes. I believe she worked on it that evening but didn't quite finish it. She visited an amusement park on the day of and before the performance. I've watched video of her in an interview at the park with a friend. It looks like they had the whole park to themselves. She finished the lyrics on the ride to the recording session. The remarkable thing is that the lyrics fit so well they had no need to change the arrangement. I believe this performance was the second take. Again I will be happy to be corrected on this if I am wrong but regardless this performance was typical Angelina Magic. Smooth Velvet Perfection! ♥👣If there is a performance and a recording of it I'd love to see & or hear it. I know she did it live a time or two but not with these members and this arrangement. ♥👣
The barefoot princess is absolutely a musical genius. I’m 55 years old. I have been following her for over nine years. She is absolutely the best singer I’ve ever heard in my life. Absolutely an angel sent from heaven. Inside and out she is absolutely a beautiful person.
Shes had the best accompaniment, bands, orchestras, writers, business legends all around her in every year. She’s a treasure that im sure is being protected in ways we dont know.

Great reaction Nick. She was required (by mom) to improvise the lyrics because the original was too adult themed. She had only 24 hours and was finishing the improv on the way back to the studio. Thus, the need to read the new lyrics in the performance. Pretty impressive. She is such a professional.

Y’know… I’ve always been impressed by Angelina’s performance, and I know part of her doggedness in seeing this to completion is due to her love and passion for Amy (yes, even at this young age she knew that Amy had a very troubled life), but I’ve also underestimated how truly remarkable her rewrite is.
This song was not only “adult themed”, it’s lyrics were downright vulgar in places. And to think that not only did Angelina stay up late to revise the lyrics, this ten year old Norwegian girl was creating lyrics in English. At an age where we Americans are just learning about poetry, Angelina is essentially reworking poetry in her SECOND language. Truly remarkable.

@@nickforell1 it greatly depended on where I was working at the time. I was in Las Vegas for years, so I sang quite a bit of standards, light, jazz, some pop, and some country. After I retired, I came back to Michigan to be close to family.

She’s ten years old here, and her mother objected to the original lyrics, so she rewrote them on the way to the rehearsal. That’s why she was looking at her sheets on the stand. The name of the song is Back to Black, and she changed it to Back in Love. Of course, Amy’s version is very dark, so Angelina changed the darkness to love! You definitely need to watch Amy’s video so you can compare the two. I think she knocked it out of the park, and this is one of my favorites. When you re-watch this, notice the male violinist watching her. He seems mesmerized also!

I’ve just listened to a dozen or so of ANGELina Mash-ups with the original artists and I truly understand why she is called “The Barefoot Angel of a Thousand Voices”. (Angelina was 10 yo here). Please look under Angelina Mash-ups and have listen to some. Angelina now (to me) sounds like a combination of all the artists who inspired her as she was growing up since she was in dippers. Nick, my friend, some of us realized, that she is not only musicaly a genius. The way she writes and speaks, is a clear indicator, that she is highly intelligent. Believe me, or not, I had the honor to meet such kids, while doing a guided tour through our zoo. One moment they behave like their age, the next moment, they are like 40 year old university professors. A co-commenter, who worked for 20 years with such kids confirmed this.

I saw one reviewer say recently that she is the reincarnation of Elvis. I know he meant it to be a compliment. But not to minimize the massive talent that Elvis had. AJ is no reincarnation of anyone.
She is truly a musical prodigy; Elvis, and most other performers of that caliber, has NEVER possessed her musical understanding to a level that allows her to create musical arrangements that fit her vocal skills perfectly while still honoring the original author’s intent in the piece. In addition, she is fluent in many languages (English is her third language, actually), and she constantly increases that list.
She is also a multi-instrumentalist, currently proficient in piano, guitar, and keyboards, and, I suspect, synthesizer as well.
On top of that, she is a dedicated Altruist in the most accurate definition of the term, and she has been all her life, with no coaxing or prodding from others around her. She possesses these beliefs naturally as part of her natural being.
You could say that this old man has nothing but admiration for this spectacular human being. And I consider it a blessing that I have witnessed her early growth as an entertainer and a human being.

I just love your sensibilities when critiquing songcraft and singing ability both of which Amy and Angelina came born with, in spades. It’s wild. Altho I am sure they learned much of it, vaulting from ability as a springboard like gymnasts in the Olympics.
They both spoke so eloquently from the heart tho and that captures me every time. Mesmerized and stunned … no wonder the orchestra rallied to finally clap a bit. Under the spell as they were.

It was pointed out in another reaction that the point of reference between Amy’s singing and Angelina’s is completely opposite. Amy sang and composed from a reference of pain an hurt while Angelina performs from perspective of love and caring. If compare Amy’s lyrics to Angelina’s you’ll find that the title and arrangement are about all that is left of the original. 10 years old? Did this in a day?

On top of her excellent vocal artistry in this, her mom was not happy with the adult lyrics so Angelina rewrote it to change the intent. It's reported she finished it in the car on the way to this recording session. You should pull up the lyrics from each rendition. It is astonishing that she rewrote it without having to change the music. The orchestra was amazed too.

She liked her voice .. Amy's voice .. she most probably didn't know much about her for a while .. but I'm sure she knows her story now. If she liked a singer, she worked a huge amount of time figuring out how they made that sound and would try it over and over and over until she got it. She started all this when she was two .. and was doing it for hours a day .. totally strange amount of focus for a little one that age. But she is a child prodigy, a musical genius. She pretty much always rearranges her own covers -- as was clear with Bohemian Rhapsody, for example. Having to take that song down to 2 and a half minutes .. and she did it. Queen were blown away and told her they'd seen her cover and that she was welcome to cover any of their songs she wants. A bit later they GAVE her the rights to her own version. Pretty amazing. If you like Queen .. check out some other covers she's done. I'm glad you're here .. this was a gutsy move you made .. I'm sure everyone appreciates it though .. why not? You're interested and wanting to diver deeper ... nothing wrong with that!
