the fact that most of the 'perks' behind meta verified are things that should be the default is what angers me. you're paying for quick, proper customer support? to be protected from impersonators? that's the bare minimum is it not

Meta is beyond stupid. More followers and popularity means you can get away with posting anything. Meanwhile when people like us post a picture of even our finger it gets deleted for being adult content 😅😂

I got a blue check after my main business page was deleted for no reason in march. Soon as I made my first post with the blue check, i got spam about buying followers and spam on all my reels. It's outta control and they delete legit accounts more than scam accounts.
I would never hesitate to delete the heck out of Instagram if they ask me for money.

They're essentially asking content creators for money seeing how those are the people that make money using social media, and suffer the most if their accounts get compromised

paying to remove ads doesnt feel good when the posts themselves are ads. my friends dont post at all anymore and we just send reels back and forth. Literally thats all we do anymore.
I felt this in my soul. It absolutely killed personal interactions
The reason the posts are ads is that they don't pay their creators, which are the reason why anyone spends time on their platform consuming the ads and making them money. So the only way a creator can continuously make high quality content is to become professional, but the only way to do that when there's no money is to make money by making posts that are ads.
So Instagram feeds are ads sandwiched between ads disguised as posts.

@@definingslawek4731 Thanks! Yeah my personal experience is simply that we don't even see our friends' pictures anymore, it's utter bombardment with ads and suggested posts. Most of the content is no longer static (pictures for example) it's all endless videos and LAYERS of an abyss versus in 2012 it was just scrolling until you saw everything that had to be seen and then you got bored and hopped off
From saying Facebook is invading my privacy. To paying them to upload your Government ID. What a progress!!

I get up at 6am and I'm not home until around 7pm. I have 2 hours to work on my business every day, and I have maybe an hour to hang out and actually chat with friends or watch TH-cam. Once my life became busy and fulfilling, it removed any and all desire to be on social media. It's so draining to get notifications constantly for stuff.
If you don't disable all notifications you are using it wrong, keep only the messenger. But yes, when you're busy and have a fulfilling life you don't feel the need to scroll endlessly. I noticed especially in vacations how little i care about what people post. I would not even open this video at all normally.
The amount of ads on Instagram is a disgrace. Even when you block them, they still appear a day or two later again.

I genuinely hate Instagram lately. I still use it so I can get the tiny sliver of content my friends post and Instagram decides to actually show.
It's all just promoted content, reels in non-chronological order and "suggestions". It's just an absolute mess. I just want reels/pictures my friends post. That's it.
You can click the Instagram logo on top left and click Followings so it only shows those you follow. I myself never browse IG main feed anymore since then
I mostly look at my friends stories, then the ads in between their stories 😅
You might be surprised but your friends are not posting stuffs and that's why you are not seeing them, just switch to the timeline with 'Following'. They grew older, life changed, IG and FB flooded us with junks, multiple reasons....

If you pay to be verified then you should have a guarantee your posts will be shared with those who follow you.

My father told me that when cable first came out, the concept was to pay for no ads. Then a few years in, ads came about anyway. Same thing happened with XM radio (albeit only with ads for other XM channels/servíces). This is just a repeat of the same time-tested disingenuous business model: Start off free with ad revenue to generate an audience. Adopt a paid ad-free model. Bait-and-switch.

I kinda agree with moving away from paying for SM with your attention (through ads), to paying a monthly fee. But if I pay, I want to make sure that I see absolutely no ads and that my data goes nowhere.

The problem is that there is no competition in this market and at the same time most apps are controlled by the same people. That’s a monopoly on our media and it’s not right.

I'm sorry I can't believe people would pay, still give personal informations to still get ads. I don't use social medias anymore for like 10yrs now, and that's one of the best decision I've made.
Ironically when it comes to marketing on the platform you have to upload your ID to give ads to other people 😂😂

I hate that no one laughed at MKBHD's joke at 7:50 , "...until you're spending 12 bucks a month for heated seats in your BMW" I cracked up from that! I wish they reacted to that and gave it the laughter I felt it deserved lol. But besides that, great video!
What pisses me off the most is that I have been noticing I crash in reach when it comes to my Facebook business page and I knew something was up and the worst part is that I cannot be a part of the verified group because I'm from Puerto Rico and it seems it's not even available to us. So this is directly affecting my business in more ways than one.
TH-cam premium is worth it to me. You get TH-cam music, TH-cam ad free, and you get the background play for the TH-cam app.
It's a damn stupid social media. I don't wanna pay for something I'm constantly trying to use less and it's unproductive as hell for most people who aren't creators/influencers.
I hope it's only for verification and not for regular users

since there's that feature to protect your identity by making sure there's no accounts impersonating you, i can see some celebrities and influencers and creators choosing to pay for instagram for that, because they're usually at a bigger risk when people impersonate them
Doesn't matter anymore. You want to be protected? Don't post any videos/photos of you. People use deep fake and AI technology to post porn videos of you. It's already happening.

I don’t see how one time ID verification needs to be a monthly subscription. They could offer one time paid verification as a stand alone thing, and offer all the other “bonuses” separately for those who want it.

I’d pay $20/m for zero shadow banning, no ads, 100% of my viewers reached when I post or go live, dislike thumbnail, priority post to the top of everyone’s feed and IG stories who follows me and most importantly my profile automatically advertised to more people without needing to pay for boost. The issue is that the gaming industry kicked the doors on this. Everything will be subscriptions and micro-transactions. As soon as the other services and industries (like social media) start to see that this might be an actual revenue stream, we're screwed.
Everyone will look for alternatives or use the bare bones versions of everything.

Meta say Twitter have issues with bots after the pay for the check mark and said "okay we'll ask for an ID" and this will make people like it. They totally missed the part that we dislike the pay for verification because it costs money.

Instagram being paid, I don't see it as a problem, because the company is private and they can do whatever they want with their app! the biggest problem I see is the fact that Instagram doesn't deliver your content to people who already follow you! and I don't see anyone talking about it! will this verified account deliver the content to 100% of the accounts that follow you?

I lived 17 years without social media back when it didn't exist. I don't need social media to exist. It's not important in life so screw social media. I stay away from it all. None of it is necessary to live.
One small piece I think you are missing is that this is more so targeted at youth/young adults who want to become influencers. They feel like this $12 will be their investment into gaining reach.

it's not the place of verification, it's the place of purchase for verification.
if you get the subscription through the app store, the app store takes a cut, so meta made the price on the app store higher so they'll still make the same money. if you get the subscription through the web, you're just going to the instagram site, so there's no cut being taken for someone else, and that's why it's lower

The only reason I pay for TH-cam premium is no ads. And the only reason I haven’t paid for any other social media, is because none of them completely remove ads.
I feel like all social media is trying to become TikTok, not tumblr. With the ‘following’ and ‘for you’ pages.
And I’m not doing the free ad block methods because it’s way too much effort to maintain or way too much to set up.

@@poker.4203 there are ad blockers for safari like adblock pro but you have to allow the app to see your navigation and saved passwords and other stuff for I don't know why. Shady.
Gleam Lte doesn't have ads but it's not as well designed as TH-cam. It does the job for long videos or if you want to play youtube in the background. I didn't dig too much on the thousands of adblocker available on appstore.
I have TH-cam premium. I dig it. Probably the paid streaming service/social media that I use the most. It’s not as good now that everybody does their own ads in their videos. But still much better than getting interrupted by TH-cam every 5 minutes
Same. I don’t use Netflix and YT is my number one Plattform. So I rather put my money here.
Hot take: People's data is becoming easily available all over the internet. Supply of people's data is ever increasing at a rate much faster than demand. Therefore, price of people's data is dropping. Social media companies like Meta and Twitter are not only doing this to keep revenues now, but also to survive in the future where data of a person's cells may be the only thing not avaialable to the public.
That is the best Business Decision by a Businessman!
I’ve used you TH-cam premium and at least it removes completely pubs (outside from sponsors, but those can be managed with). I don’t get meta creating a subscription and not removing pubs. I suppose the value they get from you seeing pubs is so high they expect no one would pay to get rid of them. Something like $90/month.

Ads in Instagram aren’t nearly as intrusive as TH-cam ads are though. TH-cam premium id say is totally worth it.
