It's all just a show from the small minority of people that speak the loudest.

Well in response Elon has stated on Twitter that it will stay free and accessible for all Third Party APIs only providing services on twitter. Everyone else will have to pay. The reason for this is because by allowing all APIs full access to Twitter for free, you are providing a extremely large and valuable database for free. Elon wants to capitalize on this as he knows the importance of it, being a cofounder of open-ai.
Twitter peaked around 2012-2013. It was so much fun to go on there for a half an hour or during an awards show. Now the apps are terrible and the people who use it are even worse

If your company's main product's API is used by a considerable amount of developers as a BaaS (Backend as a Service), and their apps are successful, you integrate the features you found beneficial for the stock app, and even reward the original authors financially... Or you could charge a small fee per request depending on the third-party traffic of said apps (like firebase), or even, charge fees towards those third-party apps, which the developers monetize from the user traffic, downloads, ads, etc... What twitter did is the equivalent of cutting off a limb a pretend everything is OK :/

MyRadar is pretty damn good. I never used dark sky so i won’t know what’s missing or not as optimized in terms of layout, but from what it sounds like, MyRadar might be a good replacement
I notice recently that Ads on Twitter are only showing up on my phone in the "For You" area but not the "Follow" section. So when I use Twitter on my phone I don't get ads anymore. So twitter is a absolute mess but at least I don't see ads now?

And while the European weather model has been shown to be more accurate than NOAA for major storm tracking, Accuweather and similar don’t seem to do any better than NOAA on either the big picture or the local stuff-and a lot of the data that the private weather services use in the US is just NOAA data, unaltered.

Yeah, the VANCED comment thrown in there ignores the fact that it adds so much more aside from adblock. Yeah, I'm sure most use it that way, but look at desktop web browsers and adblockers. People are more likely to use those because installing is easier. Also, for vanced you can let ads go through on some channels so creators can easily still get paid if a viewer thinks its worth it. I use (re)vanced for the amoled black theme, and plenty of other things that dont really breach on a creators revenue.
I find myself using all of social media less because of how the algorithm has been designed to draw you to content you don’t really want to see, as well as ads. It’s one thing to have ads. It’s another thing to have ads at every other post instead of more content you like. A whole other thing to see more posts from people you don’t know, people the app decided you should *want* to know, vs people you actually want to check in on. These apps were originally designed as ways to catch up with friends and family and current events, but now they’re all about generating income. It has made for a poor experience. Before anyone asks, I pay for TH-cam ad free experience. I also have an issue with TH-cam showing me less of what I want to see and popping up “popular” videos that have nothing to do with what I generally watch, no matter how often I say I’m not interested. So TH-cam might be next to go as well.
Since the end of 3rd party Twitter apps I'm permanently off Twitter. . I tried the stock app and couldn't handle the "Instagram style" ads directly in my feed. The notifications are shite and so now I don't have it on my phone. Crazy

11:42 I still say air temp is _not_ part of “the basic info” for weather for most people. Most people need to know how to dress and plan activities and transportation based on the weather. And for most people I argue that the number that matters for that is the wind chill or heat index, not the air temp. I know for me, personally, pretty much the only time I care what the air temp is is when the air temp is close to the freezing point and it’s raining, going to rain, or has rained recently. I want to know how likely icy ground is, and that’s more dependent on the air temp than the windchill. The rest of the year? Give me the wind chill/heat index and the only reason I even have a clue what the air temp is is because I haven’t been able to find a weather app where I can bury that info, so I tend to notice it while looking for the temperature that matters.
I hope Carrot Weather gets updated on android because google's default app is terrible (no radar even) but all the other apps I've tried have really ugly interfaces imo

Yo this is probably some TH-cam issue, but in the Android app, opening your bitly link to the full ep opens in a browser popup and not in the TH-cam app. Frustrating to try get to the full episode.

I usually use the weather feature in the Google app on Android. It gives me enough information for what I need and if I need more, I'll just use a website.
Why not switch to Mastodon?
True, Twitter has broken up since it takeover. It takes me 3days to get notifications from people that interact with my tweets

11:42 I still say air temp is _not_ part of “the basic info” for weather for most people. Most people need to know how to dress and plan activities and transportation based on the weather. And for most people I argue that the number that matters for that is the wind chill or heat index, not the air temp.
I know for me, personally, pretty much the only time I care what the air temp is is when the air temp is close to the freezing point and it’s raining, going to rain, or has rained recently. I want to know how likely icy ground is, and that’s more dependent on the air temp than the windchill. The rest of the year? Give me the wind chill/heat index and the only reason I even have a clue what the air temp is is because I haven’t been able to find a weather app where I can bury that info, so I tend to notice it while looking for the temperature that matters.
I hope Carrot Weather gets updated on android because google's default app is terrible (no radar even) but all the other apps I've tried have really ugly interfaces imo
I've been using Geometric Weather for Android, not perfect, but still pretty good.
I tend to use Today Weather and I get what I need for the most part and I love the widgets. Ads aren't too annoying either
