I heard Metric play in Vegas 10 years ago and since then fell in love with their music and the beautiful voice... this band should one of the top bands in the world.
So underrated. I first saw them perform years ago live in a parking lot in London, Ontario, after winning tickets on the radio and I’ve been in love ever since.
About the SUNGLASSES: One of the reasons people generally wear sunglasses for indoor performances is because it makes it easier to concentrate on what they're doing, which is putting on a good show. Less visual stimulus helps people keep their cool and not freak out when put on the spot. If it's not obvious the crazy brightness (and heat, hence the sweat) of studio lights for something being recorded for video would throw just about anyone off. Not hard to figure out people :)
I had never heard of Metric nor do I listen to Triple J. I need an upper cut. Her voice is phenomenal and the two together are perfect. Kudos to you all.
From Vancouver I love triple j but metric my girlfriend and I seen you at Malcolm bowl in stably park and it was the shit we love you and I’ve been a fan since way back bss and before you guys are the best and tell Feist you guys should kiss you girls are perfection
Terrific cover, however, it's not really a "Willie Nelson song". It was written by Wayne Carson, Mark James and Johnny Christopher. It was first recorded, separately, by Peggy Lee, Elvis Presley and Gwen McCrea in 1972. Nelson recorded it 10 years later, where his version of the song won the Grammy for Song of the Year in 1982.
It's a song by Johnny Christopher, Mark James and Wayne Carson, not by Willie Nelson. He covered it in 1982, 10 years after Elvis recorded it, after Brenda Lee.
i used to work with them and that's not true, these guys started in the late 90's in Canada doing punk and new wave and grew massively but have always written, produced, mixed, mastered... literally done the whole thing themselves including building a label to maintain their independence. i'd look into them a bit more man.
am i not hearing the same thing other people in these comments are hearing? you’ll hear a better cover than this at your local fuckin karaoke bar. that was absolutely awful.

@@worldismyashtray I saw them at centennial hall and I'vee never seen a better show
Beautiful cover. It really suits Emily's voice.
I think I like hearing Emily speak just as much as I like hearing her sing.
Love these guys. Her voice is so powerful..
Awesome Duo!
So soothing
This is a brilliant version. Really love this!
Bloody fantastic. Now that's doing an old classic justice!
Oh my.... thank you 🫶 wish you'd heard this johnboy x

sometimes they're stoned
Wow, I'm weeping!
one of my favorite songs.
Wow, I love her intimate voice. I'm more used to her belting it our over noisy instrumentation. This is so cool.
Loved it!!! Metric are awesome.

Metric is soooooo good! Enjoy!
And here I am 10years after this was done, and this is a wille Nelson song, fml… I never knew 😮
i love it! you are great!
Willie Nelson still lives! Why the funeral attire? I joke, great cover.
Beautiful song and cover :) Toronto Island born boy here !
Phenomenal cover
the guitar is amazing
Wow so good
❤
The closer they sound like Brenda Lee, the better they sound. Wonderful.
.
🖤
Willie Nelson song ey..
starts @1:25
the way she hits those low notes
oh man it gets so sultry when she sings low
@@toolthoughts For sure. Also, “Hi, my name is Stereo Mike.”
@@worldismyashtray you got it!
@@toolthoughts 😁
That's why they said "Willie Nelson's version."
1:25 is when they actually start singing
love the shades ...where can i get em ??
WOW :)
Dig this band, dig the song. What's with the sunglasses in the dark radio studio?
Debbie Harry and Elvis Costello??
and Jimmy Shaw
Thanks
Song finally starts at 1:25
Song starts at 1:24
thankyou sir
Correction: the perfect song is any song you sing.
can she get anymore perfect?
...she probably does that thing, you know, you hit a high note and your eyes roll back and the eyelids splatter uncontrollably
Emily Haines

i was there!
@@rsps16 that's weird that they would make me sound like that and mix my words up,
@@mykebrand9803 what?? lol
@@rsps16 I mean my original post makes me sound like I don't know proper English, it looks like a bunch of gibberish
wowowow :)
💔
Since when did Elvis Costello play for Metric?

Brenda Lee
good wikipedia skills bro
Yea ima go with Willie Nelson.... the rest is worthless history 😉
They said that it is a cover of the Willie Nelson version.
So Willie Nelson didn't do it? More accurate to say it's not oirignally willie...
I can be pendantic too.
@ashmarie590 I agree completely.
so wait, Always in my mind is the theme song for Splendor in The Grass?
She looks like Kate Hudson with sunglasses on,
Willie covered Elvis
Who covered Brenda Lee
It's a song by Johnny Christopher, Mark James and Wayne Carson, not by Willie Nelson. He covered it in 1982, 10 years after Elvis recorded it, after Brenda Lee.
ditto
was this not Elvis' song covered by willie nelson?
How do you explain the guitarist? He's probably blind . . .
holy crap, it's lana del rey
Nice job. Did cover of this particular song. Could someone listen and give feedback.
Thanks
No dear you are not blind. Just take your shades off!
577666 they enjoy being the sound not being the face of entertainment. I would wear shades all the time too.
I'll keep you satisfied,,,!!!! yep'' she is quite able,, no doubt!!! fantastic...
that's nice. move along now!
i love metric - so much. but take your sunnies off guys... nothing cool about sunnies inside
Wearing the Sunglasses, cause there off their guts. Sounds more plausible.
Enough of the chitchat, start singing already.
Not the best of Metric.
Wow! Not good!
love metric but didn't love this..
I like Metric, and I love the song, but I really didn't like this cover.
Stop whispering.
Could this be any more uninspiring.
Love the guitar but not her voice. It was ok.
lol she is sweating out as well, doing jack shit in an air conditioned recording studio..... fair indicator there
For some reason, they seem like the most pretentious duet in this "like a version series". I think it's the sunglasses and hat.
i used to work with them and that's not true, these guys started in the late 90's in Canada doing punk and new wave and grew massively but have always written, produced, mixed, mastered... literally done the whole thing themselves including building a label to maintain their independence. i'd look into them a bit more man.
What a train wreck.
Can she sing in tune, is that too much to ask?
shes singing in my tune
am i not hearing the same thing other people in these comments are hearing? you’ll hear a better cover than this at your local fuckin karaoke bar. that was absolutely awful.
SLEEPY VOICE ....BORING
i dont like, this is not country ;C
Not impressed.
Louis Hawkins no one cares ugly
This makes my ears bleed...
horrible...
