    Let’s tip our hat off to Yowana, whose reviews are of the high mileage type and real practical use. Nowhere is there anyone running as many miles on a given week and pounding a specific shoes. Thanks ! This is a channel differentiatior!

    Great review! Just been getting back into running and training for a half marathon in the 1080v13. Didn’t know much of anything about running shoes but felt great in the store and have been super happy with them so far! Most comfortable shoes I have ever owned.

    Yo! Great review after 300 miles on 1080s. They really grew on me over time. Can't agree more...best cushion shoe out there and will outlast others. So the price is justified. Lol at the negative reviews...because everyone's got different needs, preferences, body mechanics, etc.
    BTW, congrats to you and the family on baby #3! Keep crushing it!🎉🏃👊

    Great thing about you and midlife runner is I know that neither of you are beholden to the shoe companies like some others appear to be. However, this does make it more complicated to choose. The best advice in all matters is “do your own research“ so I think I’ll go to the running store tomorrow and check them out myself!

    I’ve always viewed NB as the truly cushioned shoe brand on the market. Never got the hype around Hoka as they just feel firm to me in comparison. The 1080v13 felt like the closest shoe I’ve felt to the feeling I had felt in the Nike Invincible 2’s. Phenomenal sink in feeling, and very glad to hear durability isn’t an issue either. I usually have a soft enough footstrike to take my shoes to 500 miles, so I’m glad to see the foam is more durable than I had feared it might be.

  • @QronoZ713
    @QronoZ713 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

    Just like you, my preference for softness is very dependent on where I am in my training, but also during the season. I tend to go for more soft, cushioned, stable shoes during winter, while summer runs tend to be in more agile trainers. I run more asphalt during winter due to snow, but other than that it's just the vibe 😂

    fantastic review of 1080. Been running in 1080 for 2 months and love it. However, I just ran a half marathon yesterday wearing 1080. This race has very steep up and down hills in the first 3 miles. In uphills, I immediately felt my calf laboring hard due to the high heel of 1080 and quads soreness after the race due to steep downhills. This is the price you pay when you wear a max-cushion shoe. Knowing what I know now, I wish I had worn 880 which is also a cushion shoe but not as "high heel" as 1080 (37mm/31 vs. 31/23).

    • @supwell
      @supwell  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you and congrats on the half yesterday! My new balance shoe of choice for a half marathon if you don't want a racing shoe would be the SC trainer v2 - it's soft and comfortable like the 1080 but has a lot more speed assistance from the bouncier foam and curved rocker platform

    • @robertwu8092
      @robertwu8092 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@supwell Thanks for the recommendation . I look at the SC Trainer V2 which has an even higher stack, 40mm/34mm. I believe it will be very tough on your calf in steep hills.

    • @supwell
      @supwell  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@robertwu8092 it has a carbon fiber plate that helps stabilize the foam and makes it a lot easier on the legs. I haven't had any calf soreness running in that shoe. Alternatively, if you want a shoe with a lower stack height, the new balance rebel v4 is a great option - around 30mm in the heel and a lighter than either the 1080 or sc trainer v2

    If your looking to test something to possibly replace the new balance 1080, i just got a pair of the puma forever run nitro and i was really surprised by how responsive and cushy it was. Not to mention i got them for 79.99 from the outlets but also online for that price too. Im a 11.5 but grabbed 12. Also very stable with puma grip dam things will last forever (hence the name lol). I tried nike invincible and react infinity and returned both, just to much slop for me and heal issues. But the second i tried on the puma i knew i had a really good daily trainer that is perfect for easy runs. Last thing is us bigger feet runners, it can be hard to find good comfy daily trainers so definitely worth a try if your like me.

    More v4 is kinda firm and I have arch pain just walking around on them. This v13 is super soft and is great for my minor injury now. But outsole got chew up so much faster than the 1080-v11 and v12. I don’t think my v13 can last 300 miles as a heavy heel striker. 😂. My pair is already to the ground …

    The most overrated comfortable shoes available ,for me, is still the Gel-Nimbus 25 ! It even beat other shoes I still got/had likenthe Gel-Nimbus 26, Invincible 3, Wave Sky 7 or a 1080 v13. The shoes that get similar running comfort and super overall plush to the Gel-Nimbus 25 is the Nike Infinity Run 4 . It is just a delight heel to toe transition running with my Infinity 4 ... not necessarily the most expensive shoes will be better by default ( AKA Invincible 3) .

      Thank you! I am 6' 2" and tend to run with a lot of force so I look for shoes that can stand up to that and can definitely help. The Saucony endorphin shift 3 is a great max cushioned shoe for bigger runners - it's super supportive and has a firmer foam that makes it great for everyday runnign as well as some faster pace. The brooks ghost max is another good choice that's a little softer and more forgiving than the shift 3 if you want more of that traditional max cushion feel. As for speed shoes I've been loving the Boston 12 for fast workouts. And the TYR Valkyrie Elite which I just tested on a 22 miler this weekend looks like it's going to be a top race day choice for bigger runners - will be posting the full review on that one in the next few weeks. Lmk if any specific questions or if you're looking for a specific type of shoe

    Brooks Glycerin 21 - Daily Trainer
    Asics Novablast 3 - Long 4uns
    Brooks Hyperion Max - pushing the pace/5k race shoe
    Saucony Tempus - tempo workouts
    That's current rotation but I feel like it's missing something "max cushion" for the long runs and recovery runs
    Recommendations? For long runs I've been thinking the Hyperion Max 2 when it comes out in July for the long runs for some of that "pop" at the end of those long runs when your legs are tired like you'd mentioned but I've never tried a plated shoe before. And that doesn't cover between now and summer lol
    Any idea for a shoe that's out now that covers long runs and recovery?
    Or a shoe for each, definitely not opposed to a shoe for each, I love new shoes 🙃

      You might like the SC Trainer v2 for that - it has a plate but is more forgiving than other plated trainers. I've taken it 20+ a few times and it still feels great at the end of those runs. It's on sale for $140 right now too. Another great non-plated option is the Saucony triumph 20. I used mine for exactly what you described and it's a nice fun slightly bouncy shoe for long runs and recovery. Very soft shoes kill my knees but firmer shoes don’t why is this ?

    • @kalvin.
      @kalvin. 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Typically due to instability which forces the body to compensate, and depending on where in the chain you’re stronger/weaker, it can add stress to those places. The reverse can also happen with too firm or with stability shoes that force your foot to land unnaturally.

      Ayy thanks kalvin 💪🏽 if it's instability/weakness doing some compound movements in the gym can really help. Squats and deadlifts are basically all you need - start as light as you need and work up over time

    I want a versatile shoe, but im also running a half marathon, would you recommend these?

      Check out the video that's about to go up this morning - has my top picks for beginners/first race training. This didn't make the list because it's a little soft and not versatile. I'd go with the supernova rise, Nike Vomero or novablast over this for your one shoe

      No it fits really well. I went up half a size for more room but it's not narrow at all. New balance in general has a roomier fit

    Did you say you have tried the ASICS Nimbus? How do these NB compare with them? I only just started running a few months ago. Need cushioning.

    • @supwell

      They are both great shoes - super comfortable. I prefer the 1080 - it's a little lighter weight and easier to run in. Sometimes with the nimbus I felt like I was fighting against the foam. Also the 1080 had better durability for me

    Do these have more cushion than Hoka?

    • @supwell
      @supwell  2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      These are a lot softer than anything Hoka has right now. If you're looking for a soft cushion feel, this is a great pick - it's my favorite soft shoe of all time

      @@supwell Thanks. I'll check it out. I have a pair of Hokas right now and they are the software shoe I've ever had (I bought them about a year ago). I'm not really a runner. I do hill sprints, but I mostly need a soft pair of shoes because I have a couple of bone spurs near my heel and need as much cushion as possible. I guess I figured Hoka has the most cushion, but it sounds like these shoes might be better.
