      Its a shame the DJI Smartcontroller that came with the Mavic 2 doesn't work (yet?) with Mini 3 or Mavic 3, though they did release firmware to make it work with Mini 2, and it can update the DJI Fly app to latest

    A nice straight to the point description, I cheaped out out first and just bought Mavic 3 with regular N1 controller as had no option even though I already had N1 that came with Mini 2, but Mini 3 Pro I waited and got just the Drone, only a week ago I bought the RC PRO (cost £79 less too) so for me it worked out fine by waiting as RC PRO now works with Mini 3 pro and really those are the main 2 drones that I like to pack which cover most flying situations. As for N1 controller it's good for a backup. Hated attaching phone so much easier now especially with the extra controls.

    For anyone that wants a larger than their phone screen for the RCN1 controller but is afraid of it being too heavy as Billy mentions, I use an iPad mini 6 with Drone Valleys extension and I love it. It’s not too heavy and I don’t even use the optional lanyard mount with it.

    Great controller comparison! Covered features, range, ergonomics. A few Specs of interest I am adding are battery life and transmission POWER + Bonus (Screen Brightness).
    Controller Battery Run Time Transmission Power Screen Brightness
    RC-N1 6 Hours 398mw (.4 watt) Phone dependent
    RC (RM330) 4 Hrs (approx) 398 mw (.4 watt) 700 Nits
    RC Pro (RM510) 3 Hours 1995mw (2 watts) 1000 Nits
    RC PRO is the BEAST but you pay for it in run time! Get yourself a matte glass screen protector and fingerprint smears and reflections will be a thing or the past!
    Thanks Billy.

    RE the DJI RC. I fully agree with your thoughts on the signal strength. I installed the Alientech external antenna mod (Pro refit bracket)and it increased my signal strength a lot. Even using the Alientech "stubby" (quick release) antennas the strength was much better. 4Hawks also makes a external antenna mod kit that I'm told is also good..

    Great video, Billy, but I think the lack of cellular connection should have been brought up. If you need to unlock Geo-zones while using the RC or Pro, it's a real pain to connect to your phone, boot up the app in the phone, unlock the geo-zone, then go back into the RC/Pro and pray that this unlock works. This is a huge miss by DJI since they're the only manufacturer that treats their customers like children with geofencing. I love DJI products in general, however, this is a left hand not working with the right hand issue for sure. If you do industrial or real-estate jobs Part 107 and try to use the RC or Pro remotes, it's a show-stopper when you run into the geo-zone unlock problem. It only works about 50% of the time from my experience. Keep it up, buddy!

    RC is the way to go but the Pro is awesome but that price point for many just don't make any sense (for many). But I would add, the signal situation is only evident in the Mini 3 Pro... Signal is great or better when using the M3 line with the RC over then N1 RC. That's from my own testing out here in New York city. All in all great comparisons as always Billy. Happy you finally got a Samsung phone 😁

    RC can also download maps, as mentioned for the RC Pro. I haven’t experienced range issues with the RC but it is important to keep the antennas (top edge of RC) pointed generally toward the drone. Great job with the comparisons.

    Great review. One added note is that I believe the RC remote is not set up to work with the Mini 2, much to my chagrin as I just purchased a Mini 2 as a backup to my Air 2s. Had hoped the RC remote and the Mini 2 would be the ultimate small to carry package. No big deal as I still have my RCN1 remote with my iPad mini, so that will be the controller for the Mini 2. Will DJI upgrade the RC controller to work with Mini 2? Probably not since the launch of the Mini 3. Oh well, I will still keep my fingers crossed.

    There is no question, that for the Air 2s, the DJI RC is giving me better signal the the RCN1. After 1 and a half years of continued use of the RCN1, I am getting far less drop outs once I made the switch to the DJI RC. The main reason to get the DJI RC is for its convenience of a dedicated screen but the better signal was an unexpected benefit. I am not sure what others are experiencing when paired with the Air 2s but this is my experience after using the DJI RC for the last 3 months.

    @billykyle The RC Pro has a capability of adding a DJI LTE Dongle to the rear bottom compartment. Mine has a T-Mobile SIM ensuring I'm connected to the web wherever connectivity exists. While this puts the controller about another $200 US higher in cost, the convenience of this add on is serving to none (yes, I enjoy it a lot). Hello,
    I bought a Mavic 3 recently; it came with the stock RC-N1 controller. I have good range but the flight experience has been disappointing because when I try to manually follow a subject the aircraft is not as smooth as other drones and is very difficult to stay on point.
    I have tried over and over to adjust the controller settings to improve this but has not worked. I fly with the Tripltek 8 monitor which to me is one of the best.
    I finally figured out there is a millisecond delay when using the Tripltek with the RC-N1!
    I set up a test in my house and I can see a visible delay when moving my hand or snapping my finger in front of the camera. This to me would cause the tracking problem when trying to follow a subject because the subject is moving and every action I do is a fraction behind of where it should be.
    On the other hand, I have a Mini 3 Pro and I used the DJI RC from that drone and paired it with the Mavic 3. NO DELAY observed!
    No one on TH-cam that I know has mentioned this in their videos when making controller comparisons. I think this may be important information if other people are experiencing this.

    Thanks for the video. I've always wanted a controller with an integrated display, but what stops me is that the joysticks are above the display, and I guess that's just as much of an annoyance for full-screen visibility. I don't know why I don't see many complaints about it. For me, it is the number 1 factor when buying a built display controller. It would be good if they put on the market a version with the screen or in the middle like the one on the Autevo that has or one with the controls below and the display on top. Once again thanks for your contributions brother

    • @clarkjamesdigital
      @clarkjamesdigital ปีที่แล้ว

      You should try one, you’ll discover that the width of the controller means that your hands really don’t cover up any of the screen, unless you have truly massive hands or something. As billy said the screen below means the weight is nicely centralised, a screen on top would be unnecessarily bulky and wouldn’t be much of an improvement imo

    • @clarkjamesdigital
      @clarkjamesdigital ปีที่แล้ว

      Also you can see at 4:07 that the screen isn’t edge to edge, it does have a bezel around it, so the screen isn’t actually as big as you think it is. Also main reason there aren’t more complaints about it is that everyone that has it isn’t complaining

I decided to go with the RC-N1 and a Mini 3 Pro on my next buy which I'm waiting on now. Because I have a Tripltek 7 Pro I decided I liked the brighter and bigger screen than the DJI RC offered. I did like the convenience of the DJI RC though. I do wish the Android OS was open like the DJI RC Pro. The RC Pro is definitely the better RC and the price reflects that. I may save up for one if it continues to be compatible with current and future DJI camera drones.

I'm planning to get this Mavic 3 Pro and trade in my Mavic 3 but I would like to keep the RC-N1 (I own the RC Pro, but sometimes I like to fly using my iPad as screen...) and trade in the RC which comes with the Mavic 3 PRO... and is the DJI MAvic 3 PRO officially classified as C2 drone? I decided I was going to get the N1 because my phone has a better display and I can just get the files (or even the previews) straight away on my phone. I don't find I am particularly bothered by connecting my phone, usually the controller and drone aren't even paired by the time I get the phone connected.

    Hello, good day. I am considering buying either a DJI RC or a DJI RC Pro. The primary factors for me are image quality and brightness. I’ve noted that the DJI RC Pro is roughly triple the price of the DJI RC, so I’m hoping to get an expert’s view on the tangible differences in image quality and brightness between the two controllers. If the DJI RC Pro only offers a 10 or 15% improvement, I may not find it worthwhile to spend an extra 600 euros. In your experience, is the image quality and brightness of the DJI RC Pro significantly better, or is the DJI RC just as good in any given situation, thus making the Pro version not worth the additional cost? Thank you in advance.

    its a shame you do not touch more on the programmable buttons on the pro controller as for me those are one of the highest selling points. being able to adjust all camera aspects without taking my hands off the sticks is huge. like you can program c1 to something if you push it if you hold it down you can adjust something else with one of the wheels and so forth.

    • @billykyle
      @billykyle  ปีที่แล้ว

      The DJI Rc is able to do this as well, so it's not a special feature for the RC Pro

  • @londenard
    @londenard ปีที่แล้ว +1

    One little reviewed feature of the RC Pro is the button combination feature. The the 5 way stick, C1, C2 buttons and scroll wheel have different functions when holding the back button. You can also use the scroll wheel to pull focus and adjust aperture or exposure. If the feds ever pull their heads out of their butts and take DJI off the "entity list", we'll also get 4G functionality with the RC Pro that'll not only allow you to connect it to cellular without using a Hotspot but will also allow us to control the drone at potentially unlimited range with less concern for signal loss. The last feature is FPV Live which shares the DJI Goggles feed to the RC Pro... I've gotten it to work, just in case some of you can't! Hahaha!
