Hi ... thanks for sharing - very detailed. We currently are finishing up AAR Level 1. I am interested in Logic Of English Foundations Level B-D. I am debating between getting AAR Level 2 and All About Spelling Level 1 or Logic of English Level B-D. What are your thoughts? Thanks.
Knowing what I know now and using AAR with both a special needs child and a typically developing preschooler and seeing the growth and understanding of reading that's taking place. I would have selected AAR from the beginning for all my kiddos. It's much more flexible IMO and less teacher intensive across the board for reading. Now, LOE has handwriting and spelling built in to it's program as well as other language arts components as you get into the later levels it speeds up, so it's not exactly apples to apples in comparison. My oldest daughter used all levels A-D(finishing D) from LOE and started that program before we found AAR. It worked for her and she did very well I assumed it would have the same ( or relatively close) results for my middle child but it was not a good fit at all and she struggled to understand the way the program introduced letter sounds, and because of that basic struggle it hindered her reading so we moved on to AAR. Not taking anything away from LOE or the progress my oldest has made with the program though. However, as a busy mom and my children's teacher I must say that I solidly much prefer AAR's method and ease of use for teaching reading all around. Anyway, that was long winded-hope it made sense and helped you understand my perspective on the two programs. TFW!
HomeSchoolingwitha Smile thank you 😊 I am thinking I will order AAR 2. I already have AAS Level 1 to work on it simultaneously. What are you doing for spelling? Thanks.
Lynn Corp That sounds like a good plan! I'm actually not using spelling only because she's not ready for anything formal, of course that could change over the summer but as of right now, no plans.
