- The updated Trailblazer gets some changes from Chevrolet for 2024. On the outside you will discover a new front fascia, lighting and wheels. On the inside you will be greeted by an all new infotainment system and digital gauge cluster. Is the 2024 Chevrolet Trailblazer a better SUV to BUY than a Honda HR-V?

I was never overly impressed with this. It’s not like it resembles the past, but they have well revised this vehicle over the years. That interior infotainment is spot on by Chevrolet.
This is a little nicer than I thought it would be overall.
I bought a 2024 Trailblazer RS. Am surprised Raiti didn’t mention this trim level. 174 lb./ft of torque makes the Trailblazer scoot quickly off the line. It’s way faster than it seems on paper. It has no trouble keeping up with traffic and you wouldn’t know it was a 3 cylinder. If the 3 cylinder is putting you off, test drive one for a great surprise. I love the vehicle and it’s sharp looking inside and out. The panoramic roof makes the inside feel bright and roomy. The tech is fantastic. It’s head and shoulders above what’s in the CX-30. The HRV, imho, is so ugly so that was a non starter for me. No other subcompact has the high end features that this one does, assuming you get the top trim. It’s built in South Korea so the reliability is likely to be very good. For $34K it’s a great deal.
Two months ago, I chose a 2024 Trailblazer RS over a CX-30. Absolutely love it; everything you noted is true. The tech is fantastic indeed. I opted to not get the pano roof, so I saved a bit there. I hope the reliability proves to be better than average.
How do you find passing power? Adequate? (Not for aggressive driving, just from safety point of view…)
@@EToalstonyes how well does it pass I want to know
Thats because its poor transmission is doing all the work. Doubt if i had a new gen TB it would last the abuse that my 04 has gone through
I like it but the price is too high for that price I'll start looking at Hondas and Toyotas
I drove a trail blazer 20 years ago!! I liked it!!
Great review and POV. Is Active Noise Cancellation on the other trim levels?? 😮😮
17” wheels provide more sidewall which is preferred when off road. Since this is marketed as being off road capable (not really that capable) the 17” wheels make sense.
Joe, it looks like the Chevy Trail Blazier people really have it going on with the Copper Harbor, the floating roof, and the dark chrome features on the grill and lower back.
There are only two Chevy's I'd buy: Camaro or Corvette. Okay, three: add a 1973 C-10 pickup.
Hey Joe, any plans to go on throttle with the '25 Camry? Thanks for all you do.
@@Brian_Eugene_Lee The '25 Camry is hybrid only.
I'm glad to see a regular shifter. I like to hold my shifter as I drive just like everyone else. The dial shifters are not usable too me.
The Classic Blazer was K5 version 1971-98 the 2dr edition And 2001-09 Trailblazer love the SS Package had that 5.3L V8
Was just looking at SS trailblazers on Facebook marketplace while watching this thinking “what went wrong” 😅
Very nice looking front of the vehicle, interesting color. Nice expansion of Chevy with the Trax and the Trailblazer.
I’m literally depending on this or the trax lol this video came just in time
That is really awesome!
I would expect better materials considering it's a bit more expensive than the Honda. It's not a bad vehicle but I don't see me paying for it.
Wait for the rebates.
I honestly love the trailblazer my dad used to have a 2004 Chevrolet trailblazer LS EXT which was midsize 3 row SUV
This is nothing at all like your dad’s trailblazer. They’re messing around with the names and this thing shouldn’t even have that name.
@@mervinprone100%
@@mervinprone yeah I agree with you how would it be a compact SUV instead of a midsize
2 different animals, as for size and weight and rear wheel drive. The Trailblazer name is what confuses you and others. They really should have given this vehicle another name.
How much they pay this dude?
Another home run review! Both team members are exceptional!!!
The trailblazer is the best subcompact SUV in the segment in terms of looks IMO. However, the horrid 3-cylinder and poor reliability of Chevys (compared to the Japanese subcompact SUVs) puts this near the bottom of the class
I have a 2014 GMC Terrain that uses half a quart of oil every thousand miles. This is THE last GM vehicle I will own. GM cant even get the oil rings to seal??? Looks nice, till you get some miles on it. Engine should be at least a 2.5 non boosted. Korean assembled, Mexican engine, Korean tires, GM transmission, Wont go the distance before GM says, time for a new one. And who the hell do you think is paying for the UAW labor increase. Went to the execs after we bailed them out. Avoid this vehicle for long term. I am going to Toyota, Mazda, or Subaru.
Its a 9 speed auto, its more reliable thanu think. Cvt
@@gsalazar8176 CVTs are also quite reliable, people just don't know how to drive 🤷♂
8.5/10 laughter on this review!! I love Peanut M&Ms !! LOL
Close friend of mine cross-shopped the Trailblazer RS and and HR-V Sport. Chose the Trailblazer because the HR-V's seats were uncomfortable and manual only
Amazing review Joe.
On the Activ trim, the black cladding should be body colored. Needs a naturally aspirated 4 cylinder and should be less than 30k
I love USA cars whether they are made in the USA, Canada, Korea or wherever. Sharp Chevy styling here. Thanks Joe and Lori. PS: This Trailblazer has no CVT tranny like Honda's CRV, another reason to buy the Chevy.
I miss the old trail blazer from years ago. This one as its revival isn’t it
AGREED 100%
Should be $24k
Or less!!!
Not in 2023, auto prices have went way up in the last few years, I agree it should be priced less but so should All vehicles
They start at that with no options. This is loaded. The bronco sport its main competitor starts at $30k with no options. This is a deal for what you get. $24k loaded maybe a decade ago.
The door panel and armrest is awful. I have never felt a more awkward driver’s cockpit than in this car. The door armrest needs moved inward and widened. The center armrest seems never the right height. Consequently, the steering wheel cannot be held comfortably while driving.
The car is too narrow. The speakers are the cheapest and distort everything.
The engine needs more power. It is weak in the upper gears. Probably needs the 4th cylinder(?).
What's ur opinion on this Joe in terms of the competition
I drove this sub compact and I was impressed by the smooth ride. The $34K is the fully loaded RS or Activ.
Nope. Doesn't cost anywhere near $34000. MSRP on the one I bought last week was $29k and I got a deal where it was $28k.
@@scarter1021 how much was apr?
@@scarter1021how do you like driving it?
@drinny26 It did great and handled smoothly, driving in heavy rain. I never felt it want to hydroplane once. I drove it in traffic the other day when I went to my UMGC graduation in College Park MD. Merging onto the interstate was surprisingly easy with the peppy little turbo. I also had no trouble parking it in the parking garage with the Trailblazer being small and very maneuverable. Also, gas mileage is phenomenal. The only slight downside is that the rear passengers said they could feel the bumps on the road, but that is expected with the vehicle being so short. For me it is very fun to drive.
Overall, I love my Trailblazer and think it is an awesome little crossover SUV!
@@scarter1021 which model did you get? I like the one with 19” rims but am afraid I will feel every bump as well. But is $35,000 a lot to spend on this car? I dont know anything about cars. Lol
Missing cooled seats, right?
$34k for a 3 cylinder turbo engine? LOL, c'mon you can't be serious
Ford and Toyota are even more guilty lol
Add the Nissan Rogue to that thought.
This is going to be a great little car for someone, for the first 20,000 miles.
These new Chevy engines were designed in CHINA where GM sells more automobiles than in the USA and where they make almost double profits.
Exactly, and the shitty mpg. it gets 2 mpg better in the city and the same highway economy as the 20% more powerful cx-30
I bet the cabin is so quiet. Plus the Bose sound system, interior look and 4x4? I'm taking this over any Crosstrek. Chevy did so good.
looking good Joe
Could you describe how it rides? Does it ride soft or rough? We have a 2021 RS and it rides really rough because of the low profile tires and sport suspension.
The ride it’s a little rough on larger bumps but it’s not terrible
If you could do POV (point of view) at the chin/neck/eye level rather than so high up would be nicer. Just a thought....
Joe and Lori and Steve and keep up the good work 👏 and I love the video 👏 👍
Joe I tbink I mentioned to you before that I'm a Chevy fanboy. Love the refreshed Trailblazer, but your right Chevy needs to put more padding on the armrests, maybe its ok for the budget Trax but not a $34k TB. My 2019 Equinox has nicely padded armrests! Always a great review by you and Lori!
pffft, thats not what makes a car great. Modern Trailblazer is no Trailblazer, just another parking lot princess
My wife just got that exact same Traiblazer. Traded a 2023 Arcadia at4 6cyl. We also have a C7 corvette and a 2023 Silverado rst redline with a 5.3 v8. This trailblazer is very surprising throttle response! It is very quick for a 3 cyl! So yes it is worth the price!
RS and Activ are both top trims
I have a 24 trailblazer LS with the 1.3 absolutely love it!! I love how Chevy gives you LED headlights standard across ALL trims. It is very sharp looking. While on paper that 9 second 0-60 might seem slow in reality that little 1.3 scoots off the line I especially love how the engine has a nice little growl to it also enjoy making the front tires chirp sometimes lol overall I’d recommend to test drive one you wouldn’t even know it’s a 3 cylinder. The only thing I wish Chevy did was they should of made the bowtie on the key fob black for the activ and RS trims
Corolla please
Joe real competition with this vehicle is the bronco sport
This review is a great comedy 😂
6:30 and 13:30 made me laugh 😂
Keep it up Joe! Maybe you should start your own TH-cam Vlog, really like your sense of humor 🎉
By the way, which car do you and Lori drive?
The nameplate has return also joe they could had added led fog lights
The only negative to me on this 2024 Trailblazer is all the black cladding around the wheel wells and lower portion of the vehicle, it might help it stand up to gravel roads but it just looks cheap to me for a top trim. Joe - From what i've read the stinger antenna works as a dual antenna for both satellite radio and AM/FM, if you have a small Shark fin antenna it is only good for Satellite radio and you have to put the AM/FM antenna some where else like the windshield glass or a long whip antenna.
This is the activ trim. Meant to be more “off roady” the RS trim is the more top tier sporty
@@dawsongranger4940 - Joe said the Active is top trim on the Trailblazer in his video !
@@Bowhunters6go8xz6x Probably just means it costs the most money. Its meant to be the off roady top trim, thats why it has the black bumpers. If you dont want the off roady, get the RS
@@Bowhunters6go8xz6xRS and Activ are the TWO top trims for the Trailblazer.
I'd take it.
My wife has the 21 Trailblazer with a CVT, this car was 21k in 2021 without AWD. It's good to see they dropped the CVT. The turbo lag paired with the CVT makes it painfully annoying to drive at times, especially when making a quick move into traffic from a stop. Despite the fact that I wish it was an automatic instead of CVT, its been a very reliable car. Not sure I'd pay 34k for one though, you can get cars with way better MPGs for that price.
Yeah, Of course Joe.
Looks so much better than the Nissan kicks
The kicks doesn't offer AWD. Competes more with the Trax and hyundai venue.
I had an original trailblazer back in 2003. What a pos it was. Lemon didn't begin to describe it.
On another note I just picked up the new 2024 trailblazer. Really like it so far. I test drive the Honda hrv.. I really did like it. But I couldn't get over how noisy it was inside. It was so noisy in the rear and other passing cars sounded like I had the window down.
I'd like/love to see a 4-cylinder hybrid for the Trailblazer
Hey Joe, is the Trailblazer bigger than the Chevy Trax? Or are they pretty much the same size?🤔
It'd actually smaller brother, I M a trax RS owner
@@DJGAMINGRockswhat the difference between the trailblazer and the Trex? Seems like the both have the same engine and the Trex is a lot cheaper.
@@drinny26 actually trailblazer gets awd option and if u buy that awd version, u get a 1.3l 3 cylinder engine rather than 1.2 so to be straight forward if u are okay with fwd buy any trim of Trax
@@DJGAMINGRocks i don’t know much about cars but is there a big difference between a 1.2 lit engine and 1.3? I live in NY and would get awd. Both have 3 cylinder. Are chevys good cars? I wanted to buy the trailblazer not lease and I know cars lose value, some more than others.
Why do reviewers in general seldom evaluate the quality of the headlights and the performance of the heating and Ac, all important factors. The other gripe I have is that reviewers neglect the long term reliability of the basic engineering approach. Does anyone believe that a 1.2 or 1.3 turbo charged engine is going to last as well as the 2.0 naturally aspirated Honda K series engine ? How about how the car performs in a crash, surely that the most important aspect of any vehicle one purchases ( in this specific review both the trailblazer and HRV earn top safety pick plus ratings ). Lastly what about servicing costs / expected reliability. Past history with recalls …. My point being that too often we get review that wax lyrical about the exterior and interior styling, acceleration … but neglect some of the more important factors one finds out about, once you purchase the vehicle.
Test drove one and a few things. I like the interior, highway merging and passing speeds is just slow enough to be annoying. Steering was soooo dead for me I had to leave it in sport mode. Not bad you just have to come in with reasonable expectations.
The Blazer is really nice.
💯💯
That looks like a Nissan Kick.
Yup and only 14k more 😅
Copper kinda looks like the Duracell battery!
They needed to paint the roof black!
@@joro7304the RS has a black roof. The active gets the white roof
@@xtrdnryone7227 Copper with black roof would look like a proper Duracell battery. 😁
"Tell them to eat raisin bran dammit!" LOL!
Sat in it at the auto show. It's about an 2 inch too short and makes getting in and out a pain as I bumped my head. Otherwise a very nice vehicle if it's reliable enough
Needs a better engine with a little more power. Chevy should offer the 1.5T as an upgrade option.
Cool
Looks like a Nissan Kicks clone lol
I think I would rather get a Colorado with a camper top. There is too little rear space and not 4wd worthy. This is just like a Lexus RX350. Also, Hancook tires is about as cheap as you can get. Basically, it is just not off-road worthy enough for my tastes. If you put 31x12.5s and the Multimatic shocks on it, it would be much cooler. Like a mini desert runner. It is incredibly light weight however. Basically the weight of a Corvette. Price is great!!
After I heard about the hrv back window issue I'd say it's probably better
you could get a Subaru Crosstrek Wilderness for 36k
Really appreciate your video, you should be 300lb lol with all the food you talk about, keep up the great work 👍
read somewhere these have a wet timing belt
GMC is sticking it to over sea brands. This looks compact usable and America stylish mixed with premium features.
These things are on nobody’s Top 5 lists for the segment.
I'm so sad you got this good looking thing in that color, it kills in black and all the greys nicely.
The driver’s seating area is discomforting due to the armrests -particularly the door side. The door armrest needs to be closer to the driver and wider, the center rest is too high.
The Trailblazer needs more space inside, should be wider overall and needs better speakers.
Its engine lacks power for the higher gears, which you will feel if you try to pass a car.
Of course.
I prefer kia seltos base model looks better cheaper roomy inside and reliable
Well you lost me on the 3 cylinder engine
We have the new Hrv, it is at the body shop right now, and they put us in the trailblazer for our rental. I wil 100 percent say the Honda is the better vehicle hands down.
GM is a company that makes terrible cars in the first year of production. Then they get better and when you start to think about giving them another chance they stop making the car and start again with a terrible vehicle the first year of production etc etc etc! Let them go bankrupt and force competition upon themselves to survive
30 hwy miles for a 3 cylinder is wild. Should be more
Almost 184 lbs ft torque. That's almost 200. If it was lower you would see probably 35
@Jonathan-mp32x it does. Torque is power bro. Doesn't matter the engine if torque can pull u the same as a 4 or 6
@Jonathan-mp32x obviously you don't know a gas car will still not achieve too much over 35 a gallon without it being a hyrbid. 3 cylinder and slow asf is not cool. Had it been like 150 lbs ft that thing would take 12 seconds to get to 60 lol oh I know ratios
I prefer the corolla cross awd. It's more powerful more reliable and cheaper😅
I enjoyed this and will look at Chevy in a new light. Neon stitches and always the 80's reminiscence lol!
I see what you did there!
is this thing made in korea?
Not that I know of
Trax all the way. You don't need all wheel drive with snow tires. This Trailblazer is way too much $$$$. Nice review though JOE 👍
I would definitely put a 350 motor in it..
Good blind spots back end hard see out
I noticed you ran 3 stop signs. You only stoped at the 4th one because of a car already stoped there. NOT slow and go, it’s STOP!
I like it. Why can’t they just have turbo 4 cylinder. Has 3 cylinder been proven yet
Well I now have a 2024 hrv and not happy with it. Possible lemon car. My next car I will consider this vehicle
The 3 cylinder is way too small, asking it to perform as a V6 with a turbo pressurizing the small engine to make it act like a larger engine.
There has never been a dumber question than "Is this Chevy better than that Honda." 😅
Got to the end. Wow. I'm impressed with Chevy. Looks much better than Honda Toyota. Mazda designs are nice but this is a one up on Mazda. Also great transmission I seen the rpms stay maxed out for 2 gears before it dropped.
Bright sunny day but it looks dark like a cavern inside... Seems like visibility is extremely low
You need to take one for a spin!
How much is this 17000$ car?
That's a nice Kia
Back in 2019 I can still recall how disappointed everyone was.
i thought they were getting rid of apple car play
“Very shocking to say the least” 😅
Who are you telling? I had a 99 Blazer AND a 03 TrailBlazer and let me say……..I don’t get this concept. It’s cute but I def don’t see a resemblance. They def visited Dr Miami and asked for the Jackson special. 🫣
This guy is hilarious 😂
Thanks for letting me share the cars and the laughs with you!
How about the Ford Mustang GT!
It looks a little cheap with the antenna and interior materials but at $34k it isn’t.
Is this car tiny or is this man a giant
Tired seeing gray colors inside and out need browns greens reds inside and out three cyclender i dint know about that to small engine
The Trailblazer is a shadow of its former self -_-
Mine is 400K going strong!
Do only rental fleets buy this stuff?
No rice grinders.
