I have the XLE version and I "do" have air conditioning vents in the back, and a fold down arm rest as well (with 2 cup holders in it).The best thing I like about this vehicle is the "rear cross traffic alert (radar)". The radar has saved my butt several times when I was backing out of a parking space and didn't know that someone was whizzing by at a fast rate of speed -- until that loud, fast beep alerted me to the danger. A VERY nice feature to have. Also, I have 2 different cruise controls on the car, the old fashioned regular type (that keeps a constant speed), "and" the radar type that slows the car down when I'm getting too close to a car up ahead of me. If the car ahead changes lanes -- then my cruise control takes me right back to the speed I had set. I also love the way my blind spot monitors flash at me (from my side mirrors) when another vehicle is in my blind spot. All in all, I think I made a wise purchase.

Nice to see Honda redesign the hr-v. The drive doesn't look too bad, even with the cvt. Great driving impressions, Joe! Thanks for all your hard work, Lori
The international verison looks better in my opinion. This US version HR-V is actually larger than the international version but I think the styling took a hit. Internationally, this will be sold as a ZR-V.
I can sometimes get 40 mpg on trips and I usually average around 34.5 mpg in my Corolla Cross. Plus Toyota has the launch gear which will help with wear and tear on the transmission. Plus the back air vents and plugins, and the upgraded stereo is INCREDIBLE!!! Music has never sounded better!
A top trim level with no power rear gate, no rear center console, no rear pockets, and no rear AC. VERY disappointed in Honda. They are not what they used to be.

Just got a 2023 HRV and what you said is true. It"s the better car for all the reason you gave. We turned in a 2017 HRV at the time of sale and the newer HRV is much improved!
I tested this suv today and the Corolla cross. The Corolla looks 10 years back inside, but… when you take a bump, hole on road it feels like you in a safari good and stable. On the other hand, when you do the same with the Honda hrv, it’s more of an ouch moment. Also, the hrv buttons feel cheap on the inside compared to the outdated yet stable buttons of the Corolla. Seariously, I couldn’t stop looking at how good the hrv looks now, but for me today, Toyota is just a whole lot more stable machine that feels like it won’t fail you.
Joe and Lori Awsome jib as usual with these reviews. I'm a lights guy. Small details, I know, but Honda did and amazing job with both headlight and taillights design on this HRV. 👌🏾
Looks nice I like it! The back taillights look very similar to the new bmw 3series and that's not a bad thing. The bad is, only 158hp? This should be over 200hp.
Milo’s in the house!!!!✊🏿💯🏁🏁 the Hrv is a nice car Joe. Especially now. Worth it gas wise. Awesome review. Always Watching. ✊🏿🔥🔥. Always Supporting..🇯🇲🇯🇲.
I like the exterior and interior design a lot for a small suv. Looks more sporty than the current suv. I wouldn’t buy the base powertrain because of the only 30mpg but maybe when a hybrid version comes out I’ll think about this car. I really honestly like it
Honda actually redesigned the HRV a year or two ago. But the US didn't get it. It's a more upmarket design compared to this in my opinion. Although this is called an HR-V in the US, it will be sold elsewhere as ZR-V.
The HRV is my choice. Honda gives you more for your money. Toyota, you pay for what you want. It's still a good car regardless. The HRV motor is perfect for my needs. The cvt transmission is fine. They'll get better then old transmission before you know it. Awesome review.
Need flat rear floor like a 2010 crv. Need pocket/Molle storage behind drivers seat. Need rear arm rests with dynamic pass through. Need rear vents and connectivity. Need reclining and fore/aft backseat(even2-3 inches) movement. Need 190 hp 190 torque. No turbo all motor for longevity. Need bulletproof lightweight dual pane noise cancelation doors and windows. That’s all bro come on guys getting paid 6 figures for thinking of ideas broooooo!
Talking to Natalie with the phone upside down is a really good feature that I want on my phone... More reasons for me to leave android! Lol. But all jokes aside if they can add a hybrid option to give it a little bit extra power from the battery for 30k flat. Then Corolla cross would have a run for its money
I was going to buy either the HRV or a CX-5 but may wait for a hybrid version. The lack of lumbar support in most of the models is very disappointing as is the lack of substance in the rear seat, however I like the cargo space. Make it hybrid, add good lumbar support and replace the CVT and I'm sold.
I've been watching your videos for a long time and I keep coming back. I watch some Doug too but with him it's more like talking bad or jokes about half the vehicles he reviews unlike how you always say good things about every vehicle and you only zonk minor things.
Honda needs to get the hybrid HR-V on the road ASAP. Only getting mid-upper 20s MPGs and 10 second 0-60 mph times wouldn't be my first choice compared to the CR-V.
@@AndrewJamison79 We are not too smart in the USA and very slow to change. We still love our V-8 powered SUVs and trucks like they are somehow a protected right by our constitution. @@mrgold3591 I mean full disclosure I bought an suv but needed it for snow with my old job on roads usually not plowed till last but now with my new job its less important than it was at purchase
@@AndrewJamison79 Same full disclosure, I also have a SUV I purchased +3 years ago. I decided to go for an 321hp awd MDX hybrid that gets 25-27 mpgs always when gas was around $2 gallon back then. Friends and family didn't understand why I picked my hybrid until gas prices started to rise.
The engine really let’s this car down, sounds loud and unrefined. It also doesn’t help that MPG isn’t that good. Engine aside, the interior is fantastic, little to no hard touch plastics and all physical touch controls, Leather throughout the whole interior, great job, Honda. It’s based on the Civic so no surprise that it handles well. We’ll see a lot of these on the road. Luckily, everything that’s wrong with this, the new CR-V will fix.
I would opt for lower trim and add leather later down the road at a good shop. You have more choices of color like brown found in luxury cars. The HRV is missing rear AC vents as only the CRV and Pilot can have this convenience feature. BS as the Cross, CX30, Kona, Niro, Quashqai, and Taos got them.
@@ZACKxWILSON I have read the 2023 CR-V will have 3 rows of seats. So,it really will be a diff class than up til now. Raiti didn't get into HR-V acceleration, but I think that will be a deal killer for me. I need comfort merging onto interstates and passing.

I will never switch from Toyota to any other brands. Toyota is the best. Thanks for the video. You're the best. Both of you. Take care and stay strong.
Thanks for such a thorough take on the HR-V and just how it stands up to the competition. I currently have a 10th Gen Civic and I have decided to buy the HR-V, in black. My only complaint about Honda across the board is the cheap looking wheels they put on their base trims of most of their vehicles. It’s as though they want to punish their more frugal shoppers. LOL! The only thing about this particular car is that you cannot attach a car seat in the middle, there is no tether available. And I just bought my daughter one of the very narrow seats to save space for more passengers.. Otherwise, their cars particularity this year, are even more gorgeous in person! Videos and pics do it no justice.
I went to see a LX trim yesterday. Personally I think the tires they got on was pretty cool. At least cooler than my Honda Fit when I bought it new. The lack of rear vent, push n start for all trims, and removal of the magic seat really does it for me. I love the ride and the wide view but my local dealership price the LX at 31k.
It's kind of barebones for the vehicle's top of the line trim. No fog lights, no USB C or even vents in the back seat, no back seat middle cubby (armrest), no adjustable lumbar support, underwhelming engine that's pretty much the same engine used in the 2016 Civic. MUCH prefer the styling/design of the European and Asian versions which looks far more rugged/aggressive. Hard pass on this one after having seriously considered it prior to the official reveal. Much rather wait for the new gen CR-V. Great stuff and thank you for the review!
It’s a 2023 model and it doesn’t have a hybrid engine? What’s going on with these car companies where the technology is more than abundant and they choose to keep mpg at 26/32 for a small car like this. You could easily get to 43/39 with a hybrid on this vehicle.
In Europe, we will be getting the hybrid HR-V (this vehicle will actually be called the ZR-V here in Europe, cos in Europe we already have a vehicle named the HR-V, it’s just a smaller crossover).

@@Fazepagehonda - Sport Model, $30,800 out the door.
This is a nice looking vehicle. I might want to test drive one if I get a chance.
Nice camera work by the way, really seamless.
Lori Raiti rocks that camera !
Milo’s in the house!!!!✊🏿💯🏁🏁 the Hrv is a nice car Joe. Especially now. Worth it gas wise. Awesome review. Always Watching. ✊🏿🔥🔥. Always Supporting..🇯🇲🇯🇲.
You are the man Milo. Thanks for watching brother.
Redline reviews got 0-60mph in 11sec in this car. Topher is around 12-13sec. Not sure what you got, but something this slow needs to be called out.
honestly, i think it’s enough power for merging on to the highway. that’s all you really need the power for.
Looked at the msrp in Canada. I can't find a reason to choose HRV over CX5
Might trade in my '16 EX for the Sport, but I would miss the rear hidden door handles, moonroof, Magic Seats, roof rails, and the LaneWatch camera.
Ya I need the moonroof.
Always my go to for car reviews!! The best to ever do it!
not Joe holding the phone upside down at 9:36 LOL
You busted me. LOL
Seems like a lot for ur $ considering the ridiculous vehicle prices today. Great review and video as always Joe & Lori.
The HRV is my choice. Honda gives you more for your money. Toyota, you pay for what you want. It's still a good car regardless. The HRV motor is perfect for my needs. The cvt transmission is fine. They'll get better then old transmission before you know it. Awesome review.
"To the door panels". I love that line though I don't know why. Nice video.
Corolla cross all the way
I own a 2014 Toyota Prius V, and it’s the best car I ever owned. For me, Toyota is the car to beat. I’ll only buy a hybrid.
Every time I search for car reviews for vehicles I'm debating between, you pop up. I wish you were selling me my car! haha
Talking to Natalie with the phone upside down is a really good feature that I want on my phone... More reasons for me to leave android! Lol. But all jokes aside if they can add a hybrid option to give it a little bit extra power from the battery for 30k flat. Then Corolla cross would have a run for its money
Many you are good Ian. They do need a hybrid setup on this HR-V
@@RaitisRides they are actually creating a hybrid version for this vehicle I actually work for Honda engineering in Omaha Nebraska
More power for what? people don't go on a race when they go to work or buy food.
Brilliant job in my favorite Honda SUV Joe.
I am so glad that you enjoyed this one.
The phone being upside down during the “call” tho 😂😂
Good eyes! LOL
18:02 they are definitely saving both of those for a refresh.. Which is such a shady move
Only getting mid-upper 20s MPGs and 10 second 0-60 mph times wouldn't be my first choice compared to the CR-V.
the EU version has a hybrid model not sure why they are not in the US yet but I imagine they will at some point
@@AndrewJamison79 We are not too smart in the USA and very slow to change. We still love our V-8 powered SUVs and trucks like they are somehow a protected right by our constitution. Only when gas prices spike is when we get interested in hybrids or BEVs. Once gas price drop, we are back to SUVs and Truck.
How about safety? If not mistaken the previous gen did poorly in side impact test
I love your review. Very handy on which one to settle for.
Great review but why was the phone upside down when calling 😂😂😂
Let’s hope the new CR-V will fix it. I have a feeling it won’t, unfortunately.
@@ZACKxWILSON I have read the 2023 CR-V will have 3 rows of seats. So,it really will be a diff class than up til now.
Raiti didn't get into HR-V
acceleration, but I think that will be a deal killer for me. I need comfort merging onto interstates and passing.
Honda all you had to do was put AC vents in the back… and maybe the arm rest. This could of honestly been a really great vehicle overall.
The gas mileage is a huge letdown
Great review as always. But man that view is breathtaking ❤️ great shots guys
This, corolla cross and rouge sport. All are perfect sized cars.
17:42 I have always thought that no pocket on the back of the driver seat is the correct design choice for the driver.
Why is that?
@@RaitisRides Maybe because it''s annoying as hell to have someone fishing in the rear pocket while you're trying to drive?
Good job nice looks in and out Honda HRV....but 158 bhp is low and compared to new corolla corss hybrid which has 194 bhp....means better performance and better fuel economy with corolla cross hybrid and more going towards future
The LE Cross gets 169 hp
@@zororora2210 ofcourse not...i said Corolla Cross hybrid....which is coming this fall and that is going to have 195 bhp....do a little research on cross hybrid
Nice looking but CVTS are a big zonk. I don't know why this is used. It doesn't raise gas mileage that much as well as added maintenance and possibly early failure.
I'm debating between this car and a cx 30.. Is this HRV sport package?
Is there any cup holders in the back seat ?
You were holding the phone upside down. I noticed that when you set it down on your lap. So, therefore, you were not actually on a call. LOL.
I will never switch from Toyota to any other brands. Toyota is the best. Thanks for the video. You're the best. Both of you. Take care and stay strong.
Damn man, 808K subs. Channel exploded in the past year.
I’m debating between this car a Ford Bronco sport, HRV, or a Toyota Rav 4. Do you have any thoughts?
This build quality literally is like a mini Porsche SUV without the power but at much a much affordable price.
No chrome trim around the windows and no back vents did it for me. And it gets worse gas mileage than the Corolla Cross. It doesn't stand out.
Great review. I would go for the Sport trim with the bigger wheels and blocked out logos. Nice job Honda!!
I agree with you Scott!
This looks like a mini Porsche imo. Did Honda hire some former Porsche designers?
Sour cream & onions ruffles chips are my fav too lol
You have great taste Matt!
Especially no premium sound system on a top of the line car
It’s a 2023 model and it doesn’t have a hybrid engine? What’s going on with these car companies where the technology is more than abundant and they choose to keep mpg at 26/32 for a small car like this. You could easily get to 43/39 with a hybrid on this vehicle.
In Europe, we will be getting the hybrid HR-V (this vehicle will actually be called the ZR-V here in Europe, cos in Europe we already have a vehicle named the HR-V, it’s just a smaller crossover).
Is the CVT in the Corolla Cross the one with the traditional first gear?
Yes it is.
