On the inside you will be welcomed by a 11in infotainment screen, digital gauge cluster and special steering wheel. Under the hood is a 1.3L turbocharged inline-3 mated to a 6-speed automatIc transmission. Is the 2024 Chevrolet Trax RS a BETTER new SUV to buy than a Honda HR-V Sport?

The Chevy Trax is a good entry level crossover to have as long as you are realistic with your expectations. With that being said, GM need to speed up the steering ratio to match the vehicle's chassis, and reprogram the transmission to not always focus of fuel efficiency. The transmission programming is hindering the Trax performance. The only vehicles the Trax are able to outrun is the Kicks and Mitsubishi Outlander Sport 2.0 AWD (maybe). The Renegade, Soul, and Venue will outrun it.

I just bought the 1RS a few days ago and I have to say, it's a great car and a good step for Chevy in general. If you can grab it for around 25-27k total it is a worthwhile car. It's a stylish car and for being an SUV, it isn't clunky or "mom-car" esque. Handles and steers nicely, smooth breaks, and good acceleration. It's primary use should be for students or those who have a little more money for a daily driver. If you are a purist, you should note the car isn't made with US parts but it is what it is. It's a solid 9/10.

That about $7K over MSRP, but there's about $4K to the dealer, and all the other fees. They tried to get $10k out of me a total of like 39, almost $40K. I walked away and got a call back for the 32,500 on the same car

I’ve been doing a LOT of research on a new suv, and I’m down to this one and a Mazda C-5 and a Kia Sportage, but really digging this new Trax ! Love the wheels, the whole look actually, great gas mileage , and good reviews , and decent warranty ! Even loving the orange color , which I never thought I’d say for a car color ! I don’t need a sunroof, they’re usually leaking after a few years . ! Just hope the Chevrolet has improved from when I had a brand new 1994 Chevy Beretta , it caused me a lot of trouble ! So that’s my hold back .

I like it Joe! I'm a former 18 year certified real estate Appraiser and now I am a home or property inspector so I have to keep an SUV of some kind. I wouldn't mind getting this one in the 2rs rally sport like you reviewed for work. I wished they would have uped the any to at least 190 HP because of the new larger size and weight but with that probably would have required a better suspension for handling but overall I like it. The price is very reasonable in today's economy with vehicle prices being at beyond record highs and some costing the same or more than a actual home which shows just how out of order our economy is and has been. Great review and it's definitely on my radar for a nice work SUV that I can enjoy because my vehicles have always been my office and my go to place as there are times I will sit parked in my vehicle for over an hour whether I'm working on a report or watching your reviews in between properties and some times closing my eyes and meditating/power napping during my days. I wished it had electric seats at least for the drivers side in the RS. I believe that to be a mistake that GM missed the target all together with. My best to you and Lori.

Maybe there's something that I'm missing, but what sense does it make to make such a SMALL TURBO CHARGED engine with 137HP!!! For that power result, they might as well go NA and cut out the complexity. I know that the TURBO and ECU allow for torque manipulation, but I would rather a larger 2.0 4 cylinder that barely breaking a sweat for that power

I agree people would rather have the 2.04 cylinder & Awd option. Feeling a little disappointed . When you live in Md you get all 4 seasons so we need more options not less. This would’ve been a perfect retirement vehicle for my Dad & I wanted to downsize so bad but I guess I’ll be keeping my Equinox much longer than I wanted too. I agree...I think instead of putting smaller engines in these vehicles they need to just keep the 4 cylinders in them and improve them. You are sacrificing so much horsepower. There's a major push in the car industry now to make these vehicles more fuel efficient and get better gas milage. That being said...I think a majority of us would rather have a bigger engine and more horsepower than better gas milage.

Nice to see the platform as a FWD only to eliminate the AWD driveshaft tunnel and rear differential spacing. This allows for a spare tire & flat floor and lowers the center of gravity without having voids of space when choosing FWD on an AWD designed platform. Even in snow, AWD is not needed with FWD and good all season tires on plowed and maintained roads. Good review !

This is a cool car, not knocking it but I wouldn’t put it on the same level as Toyota or Honda but I would still get this in a heartbeat. I have a 2019 Chevy Spark (that I got over a Honda and Toyota because it was a good value) and it has been a good little car.
I’m a fan of the regular 6 speed transmission on the Trax (my only complaint about the Spark is the jerky CVT transmission)
I looked on the Chevy website where you can build this car and you can get this with a sunroof but it will cost more than $25,000. Also I noticed the “Gross Weight” of this car is 4145lbs, this means this is the heaviest weight the car can handle safely when it’s fully loaded with people and things in the back (and or roof). No true weight “curb weight” of this car is listed but if you look at the trailblazer’s “curb weight” it is about 3200lbs. The Trax is smaller so you figure the actual weight is probably closer to 3000lbs

I prefer budget vehicles don't come with power lift gates, and expensive sunroofs that in my area are covered in snow and ice 5 months of the year. Hate when car companies make you move up a trim level and pay an extra 2 or 3 grand to get heated seats, or mirrors because you have to buy a sunroof and other nonsense that you don't want or really need. I give Chevy a gold star for offering a nicely equipped vehicle still in the affordable price range with out loading it with bloatware that pushes the price up to a midsize base vehicle.
