No need to press the button before you put on your belt as the car will wake up when you open the door and will be ready as soon as you press "Start" anyway.

They figured out that with small cars you can't make money. Sad but true.
Yes, BMW high speed stability is always taken for granted until you drive a lesser car that gets "nervous" around 180kph. For the Bimmer, 150k, 200k, 220, 230k are almost the same boring solidness you just take for granted. Then hit the brakes hard and you get another feeling.....

Yet my 7 Series wasn't as stable as my mates Golf 7.5 doing 200+ on a straight with a bit of wind. The 7 needed pretty major corrections, whereas the Golf was surprisingly rock solid, barely moved.
I'm only at the asmr part but it's so quiet I get phantom noices in my head. I could swear I could hear a turn signal. Everyone knows bmws and audis don't have turn signals.
He had 37% battery left so that means he had 300 miles when full charged in the i4m50. Thats significantly more than what BMW says plus he was driving pretty fast and up the mountains so I am assuming the car can actually do more than 300. Thats awesome. Debating to get this of wait for the full M version💁
97000 € in this configuration !!! not in the same league of tesla model 3 in price /range.
Tesla is not in the same league with BMW
As if "price/range" would be the most important feature of an EV.
You can buy it for the same price as a Model 3 Performance, here in Norway.
Sadly I can't say anything against the "Staucountry" prejudice as german. I'd even add "Baustellencountry" for autobahn.

Wow, 100-200km/h in 8 or 8,5 secs. That's AMG E63 territory! And as for consumption, I reckon it will be much more efficient than the already very efficient iX3 which uses the same type of motors. In basic eDrive40 guise and RWD only even more so. Already looking forward to your range test!

Model 3 came out in 2017 and this BMW will be out next year with a more expensive price, bigger battery, less efficiency, lower top speed, worse autopilot and infotainment, no over the air updates. But it ahead in refinement, low cabin noise and depreciation.
@@dannyspeed M3 needs needs major upgrade asap, to stay relevant. Even Y is looking stail already. Model S still Tesla's best car.

I think the Iconic Sound is the same sample that gets blended and repeated with higher rpm.

I would never turn the synthetic sound on. It sounds pretty bad. That being said, I can't wait to see this thing in a Carwow drag video. Edit: The sound was better in carwow video. I'd consider using it.

Looking good but why did they put a gear shift in the middle console?! Such a waste of space. One of the best features in the i3 and model s is the gear selector on the right of steering wheel. Extra cup holder, storage compartment, or wireless charger could be there instead.
Great video Bjorn as usual sir. Not sure how you felt but it did seem a little too heavy though at least from watching your experience. Too bad a used BMW in America is considered a "vehicle to get rid of end of lease" because they are usually unreliable and costly long-term to keep up in America at least. Hopefully their EV vehicles will be much more reliable after the 3 year lease term has passed.

I don’t think this „board style“ infotainment screens are an improvement. BMWs are sporty sedans.
The Model S screen layout would fit better.
Most People prefer physical buttons for functions like AC. I myself also prefer this interior to an Tesla

I don’t get this physical buttons thing about secondary options. How often do you change the temperature? It’s not 1985.
I set my comfort temperature in the car. Done. Won’t change that over months. That’s the whole idea about ACs
If they want to improve the daily UX, improve media and navigation options.
@@mackster85 I change temperature nearly every ride. There is no standard comfort zone for me. My comfort zone depends from temperature outside, from the clothes I wear, short or long ride, if I drive just some minutes I need no heating or cooling and eventually my comfort zone depends from my actual mood and needs

I just can't get myself to like the BMW UI. We have an i3, and I love the car, but the experience would be so much better with a cleaner UI. A bit disappointed they haven't done much about since the i3 was released, as I was expecting a bit more from their new platform.
So many Tesla fans hating here. Instead of having a communist approach where "everything Tesla", they should welcome more choice in Electric cars. People won't adopt EV's if there's no choice in vehicles. I don't hate Tesla, but wouldn't give up my ICE vehicle to have one...ever. However, I would trade my ICE BMW for this, so that should be welcomed instead of hated on.
Love the i4. Looks great, performs great, efficiency great. Bimmerbjörn is better.

It's priced solidly in between, but it's heavier than either, slower than either and slower to charge to.

I also used to have a BMW E-61, a 550i touring, fantastic car for 11 years and 133’000 km….then the V8 broke down, too expensive to repair. Very disappointing, now I own a Lexus with 148’000 km and zero failure.

How can you compare this to a MY? Wouldnt a Model 3 Performance be a "just a little more" serious car to compare with overall, handling & performancewice ? (Where this seems to fall behind on performance)

Performance & Long Range are a completely different setup on suspension & performance. I drive MB so forget the fanboy-card. Was at the BMW museum on Thur 7th, I could see the iX and i4 in the conference room, did wonder if it was a launch event. Really wanted to see the i4M50 as have one on order but none to be seen in Munchen ... apart from the airport by the looks!

You can use turn indicators without hitting them all away down for lane change.
It's nice but I'm never going to go over 70mph so a Tesla model Y will be fine.

Looks like you "need" the Premium Essential pkg to have most basic features that you'd expect on the i4. That is a $7900 add on in Canada and puts it at about the same price as a LR model 3.
Strange. Model 3 Long Range = BMW i4 eDrive40 (stock both)
Model 3 Performance is 10 000E less expensive than BMW i4 M50 stock.
In Europe, with 20% taxes.
This sound thing I do not understand what it should be good for.

Well, the bmw is more than double the price of Model 3 Performance.... So it's not really a fair comparison. The bmw is also much heavier and needs way more energy

@@christophw.717 Not true. You forgot, that Bmw price is not fixed. In CZ after discount, my configuration is 6t€ less than cz price of Tesla 3 perf with color, white seats and enhanced fsd. With many options. Much better car, than actual Tesla 3.
@@mata4992 you are lying, there is no discount on any bmw right now because of the shortage. The normal autopilot in a Model 3 is already better than the one in the bmw, no need to pay for enhanced version. Even with 3800 Euro plus 1000 Euro for white leather Model 3 is MUCH cheaper than the bmw. You are lying. The bmw will not be available before mid 2022 because of shortage, Tesla is available much sooner
@@christophw.717 No, I am not lying. I have more than 10% discount in CZ, but we don't have here state support - donation. Ordered in September, delivery up to 06/22. But you are lying about Tesla autopilot. It is not able to read road sign, it has phantom braking, it is not even possible to use small roads. I have direct comparation with Bmw X5, and there are no such problems(phantoms and road sign). For highway, it is ok, otherwise useless. FSD is one big lie for so many money :(. Maybe FSD 10, but in EU, who knows, how it will work.
@@mata4992 watch fsd 10.2 Videos on TH-cam, no bmw can do that. And that will be launched in europe in 2022. You can wait for your car another year, fine by me, but Tesla is half the price and has more power and less consumption. The bmw is nice, but too heavy and expensive and no over the air updates for the driving assistant features. And no supercharging network. And you get 7000 Euro back in germany, so Model 3 long range plus Performance Upgrade (0-100 3.9s)is around 45.000 Euro , fully loaded. You cant beat that
hmmm, I've got about a year until I'll be picking my new car and because of changes in taxes surrounding emissions and such it's gonna have to be an electric one. Not that I mind, I've been wanting to go electric since I drove a tesla model S way back in 2015 or so.
In any case, was thinking of going with the VW MEB platform cars (either ID4 or audi q4 e-tron) or tesla model 3/y but BMW here coming out of freaking nowhere with this awesome bit of kit. Having looked at the BMW website though it is more expensive than all of the above so it's gonna be a bit of a stretch of the budget but we'll see.
