    NOTE: This is a new upload from the previous Part 27. I made a few errors which have been corrected in this version. Apologies to those who have commented on the previous version. All done in the interest of accurately conveying information. :)

    Just wanted to say thanks for these videos! I have a '79 CB650. It has the worst carbs ever designed. After seeing how easy these carbs were, I scoured the forums and found where they'll fit the 650 with one mod. I bought a set, rebuilt them and finally got my bike running reliably for the first time in almost a year.

    I have to say, I have literally watched the entire 27 episode series thus far in about a week, and they are awesome. I love the fact that you show all the steps you have taken to put this bike back together. also you and these videos has inspired me to build an older bike and tune it and make it they way I want it to be. thanks for putting in the effort to really make these videos something great!

    Welcome back Deano. I have been rebuilding my CB500 at the same time as you however you have always been a few steps ahead of me. That was until you went away for so long and left me to figure it out myself...! I had the same problem as you with my carbs except the previous owner hammered the rod out busting the retaining pin off. I drilled out the hole and cut a flat headed, ridged nail to 11mm and pushed it through. Works perfectly. Thanks for all your videos, been following you since you started the Sabre Project.

    Christmas arrived early! Good to have you back. Your videos has convinced me, that with the help of a Haynes, the workshop manual AND the hackaweek videos I Can fix just about anything on a motorcycle. So I finale got my licence and bought a CBR600 from 1990. At the moment ses torn a bit apart, a few parts being stripped and powdercoated, I changed the sprocket bearing and the fluids. Next up will be adjusting valves, so Ill rummage though your videos to find that chapter.Thanks for the inspiration!

    Man I loved the CB's! Good to see another video from you! I've used some brass tipped set screws before that had a small stem on them like your little shaft in the stay plate needs. Might be worth looking into.

    The pin is design to keep the shaft in place and allowed to rotate in the same time.To correct it,you could tap the hole according to a set screw that you'll grind the tip for the fit you need and a drop of lock thread to keep it steady and voilà!

    I noticed something in your first upload but said nothing because anyone smart enough to rebuild a monster like this should easily recognize a video clip portion which has been captured in a mirrored image and realize that the machine they are working on will look the opposite. I watched this repost and found only this difference corrected. So did I miss something else?
    My congratulations on your creating very informative and precise videos specific to the machine you are working on. Obviously you leave no boxes unchecked. Merry Christmas and may God bless you and yours.

      +EdOfTheNorth The choke linkages. The left/right bars should have gone on first then the middle one. That way they all run parallel and straight. I shot that scene over. :)

    Pod filters are 100% ok on these engines. The only problem i had was the weight of the carbs bouncing and destroying the rubbers. I made a bracket bolted on the engine underneath the carbs to support the weight.

    Maybe a small ball bearing in the hole captured by a threaded plug? The ball would rotate in the slot and capture the shaft.

    Ah factory manuals, there is probably a supplement for that one you have that covers the later carbs, that's how Honda used to do it. Then later they might do a manual that combines the original manual and the supplements, 6230010 I think it was, but long obsolete of course.

  • @oscarantvnez
    @oscarantvnez 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey! First of all thanks for these awesome videos man, they are really really helpful. Question: Did you use the original jets in these carburators, or you got some more "opened". As far as I know if your air intake will be larger (4 filters) and also the stock exhaust will be replaced, you will need more gasoline to mix with the air. Am I correct? Thanks again man and Cheers from Argentina!

    Hey Dino, I have a 81 cb750c I think it has 120 main jets and its running lean with pods. I decided to mess around with and I put the airbox to see if it'll run better and it didn't turn on. I messed with the air/fuel screws (yeah I know bad idea). But I decided to order the stock jet kit. What advice do you have?

  • @garymalmborg3088
    @garymalmborg3088 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi Dino
    I have a set of carburetors for a cb750. The bearings for the rod in the carburetor rack are worn. Do you know what to do to replace these bronze layers? Do you know where I can buy new ones?

  • @JGunlimited
    @JGunlimited 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Do manuals for newer models use 3d computer generated graphics or are they still hand illustrated? I would imagine computer generated to be more economical... If so, are they better than the hand illustrated drawings, about the same, or worse? Also curious if manufacturers make 3d models available?
