Greg is my brother and has always had thee most dangerous right hand, riffs and tone in the game! Truly one of Chitown's finest and criminally unsung wirepullers! 🤘❤‍🔥👑🎸👑❤‍🔥🤘

Mr. Hazel, I wonder if you might point me in the direction of getting ahold Mr. Fulton because my club would love to book Cyclone Temple if at all still possible!

@BanjoFOH he goes by Sweet Diesel Jenkins now and plays mostly pop chart hits. I read that he stopped playing metal and just went a different direction. He just played a show a few weeks ago so catch him if you can.

King Hazel can attest , Greg’s live “ rig” was a 100 watt JCM 800 and a cord. I don’t know where all those tones came from

Greg Fulton was an absolute MONSTER on guitar!!! His rhythm playing was was on a completely different level. His use of quarter note triplets has not been surpassed to this day. His speed and precision with outstanding choice of progression could be considered the best to date. Also, great guy. I got to hang with him in ChiTown back in 94 and he showed me tons of stuff. One of the best ever.

This! I played in a metal band in my teens and his chords inspired some of the guitar parts in songs I wrote. Just the mix of melodic and heavy is insane and something I don't think I've seen the equal of since.

Infact I hope anybody reading this that doesn't already know immediately goes and does some digging around. Investigate Greg Fulton and Criss Oliva. Maybe even very early Buckethead when he was in a band called Deli Creeps. Trust me on this, the shit is spectacular

I got to see Fulton with Cyclone Temple at the Milwaukee Metalfest in 1993. I hadn't heard of them before, but was immediately taken Fulton's rhythm playing. It's nice seeing him get some love out here, he's an unsung hero of Thrash.

Ive been a Chicago brother and fan of Greg since day 1. Znowhite, Cyclone, Rebels. When Cyclone Temple got on Headbangers Ball...it felt like a major accomplishment and victory for all of us in the Chicago thrash/metal scene man!! Was epic. Do an update video on Greg and what hes doing now with his *Sweet Diezel Jenkins* band. The spectrum of music style he has played is brilliant.
Absolutely a true, underrated riffmaster. Other notable Chicago metal/thrash bands at that time worthy of checking out were Zeotrope, Trouble and Sindrome. Thanks for acknowledging Greg with this video bro!! 🔥🤘🔥

My band, Last Legacy (Texas) played with Cyclone in 1997 at Zeroz in Corpus Christi. Greg is not only an amazing guitarist and song writer, but a great human being! I had originally seen them in Chicago while I was there working and jumped at the chance to play along side them. Epic.

What's funny is that I can see Greg's head and body movements when I'm listening to this. If you ever seen Greg live you know what I'm talking about. He's got such a great stage presence too. His right and left hand syncopation is unmatched and the feel that he brings next level. He is one of the most important musicians that ever came out of Chicago. Spoiler Alert - He's still there playing in a little band called Sweet Diezel Jenkins. He is and will always be a god.

Thrash is the best genre for me, it just pounds relentlessly on you (pause 😝😅😂). Some Thrash can be brutal af and relentless, and other times it's super groovy and heavy. Thrash is pure adrenaline pumped into my veins lol, Thrash is my lifeblood!!! 🤘🤘🤘🤘

@@BayouMaccabee definitely man, I'm only 30 but I've been a metal head since I was 16 and Metallica was the band that started me on my metal journey. Are you a fan of any Modern Thrash bands?
I've got some great recommendations for you, check out a French Progressive Thrash Metal band called Arcania.
I describe Arcania like "If Gojira made Thrash Metal", they have 2 albums called "Dreams Are Dead" (2nd album but I recommend starting with this one first because it's more impressive and technical/progressive).
And Arcania's first album called "Sweet Angel Dust", which is more emotional and raw than their second album. There are more suggestions where that came from, if you're interested. Enjoy my friend! 🤘🤘🤙🤙

Thank you for this video. I am a fan of RWA and Cyclone Temple and it was great to hear their stuff again. I only saw Greg once and that was with Sweet Diezel Jenkins and he was super cool to talk to. By the way you have some guitar monsters in the comments. Jimi Hazel from 24-Spyz and Rich Harris from Small Change; check their stuff out too!

I love the Thrash reactions T, Thrash Metal is my main genre. Thrash is actually a pretty diverse genre, there are several different styles of Thrash. There are some real hidden gem Old School AND Modern Thrash bands I've come across.
Often it's the vocals for me that makes or breaks a Thrash band for me, a bad vocalist can cancel out the amazing musicianship and cause a band to remain mediocre.

Dude! ZnöWhite is amazing, OS thrash af, at least the early stuff. Fun story, I wore my ZnöWhite tee at a party at my friend's place in Oslo where also Fenriz (Darkthrone drummer) attended (he is an incredibly funny and silly guy btw). When he saw my tee, he just exclaimed: "Ah! ZnöWhite!", haha.
Hot tip for amazing thrash from recent years NEKROMANTHEON, particularly the last two albums, which got Norwegian Grammy both and was hailed in mainstream papers as one of the best Norwegian releases the year they came (2012 and 2021), no matter which genre (Girl in Red was hailed as the top, Nekro no. 3).

Znöwhite was a fairly local Chicago band but definitely made their rounds via tape trading. Cyclone Temple could have toured with Pantera but got fucked over by Combat Records, a label very well known for doing its share of that over the years and they never got the push they really deserved. Plus, when Cyclone Temple broke to TV audiences via MTV, grunge was definitely killing off anything with more than two chords or a guitar solo

25:00 I guess I'm one of those rare people who loves old school stuff and Nu Metal, I love a wide spectrum of metal/rock. The only type of stuff I don't like is those teeny-bopper metal bands with vocals that sound like a 12 year old little boy lmaooo, and I'm not really a fan of Deathcore and Technical Death Metal bands (there are a few exceptions though).
