  • Replacing a badly damaged front forward lower thrust arm on my 2003 CL55 AMG. this process is the same with group of other mercedes benz vehicles.

    You should keep the nut on the end of the ball joint, loosen the nut til it’s about flush with the bottom of the ball joint bolt that way you got plenty of threads gripping it, now when you use the ball joint separator and once it finally breaks loose it doesn’t just go flying but still breaks loose, THEN you can take the nut all the way off and remove control arm

    You should keep the bolt in where you put the ball joint saperator so you dont get hurt when hitting the control arm. Loossen the bolt all the way,but dont take it out

    Preload the bushing before tightening.... Car must sit on the ground....

    You should put weight on the car before tightening the bolt on the inside bushing

      Should I jack it back up and loosen and tighten again? With weight on like you said, or am I going to be ok with it?

      @@bmancars3237 yes you should or that bushing will be twisted when the car sits at ride height

      Where as at ride height it should be in the relaxed state
