This is so great! Carroll O'Connor was such an incredibly talented and great guy. He can never be replaced, and he is still very sorely missed even though he passed away back in 2001. :( Luckily I can still watch episodes of "All in the Family" all the time. :)

I never knew that the song had lyrics until I just researched it. I was actually just looking to see what the title was, because I've always loved it. Mr.Kellaway plays thee hell out of that piano!! It always sounded like a traditional gospel song, especially a few particular chords that he plays. But the lyrics and Mr. O'Connor's effortless approach makes it that much more magical. #legendary

They were my genuine friends. Many inadequate thanks to all who wove such a real existence. A true work of art for us all. :-)

Greetings! It is ironic how one minute someone loves/ cares about you the next minute it’s like you never knew them at all.Even if you’ve known the person for years. It seems like relationships are not real.So many fake people out there anymore. This could apply to family too.Sometimes they are worse than strangers. This closing theme such a sad ending to such a funny show. I guess it is like a life lesson. Peace to you and best wishes!

+Jason S. A lot of men from that generation were good singers. I think it was in part due to the fact that a lot of boys back then were required to sing in church and school even into their teens. Not to mention they were exposed to real music regularly. Now most kids don't go to church and many schools don't do things like Christmas pageants anymore.

An African American friend of mine invited me to his church recently for a concert. I was blown away by the quality of people's voices, men and women alike. I tend to agree with you rhat churches are a great training ground for future singers.

What a beautiful lyric!!Carrol O Connor was talented in so many directions its amazing. Presented in such a touching way too. He wrote a lot that was in the scripts I heard. And I think directed too. He seemed a very modest man but he was extraordinarily gifted. For an authentic characterization of a charcter who on earth could beat him. Unless it was Jean Stapleton but I think they both tied for that honor. In my opinion I mean. I dont mean O Connor wrote massively in the scripts but I do think he added little touches. And flourishes. That made a lot of difference. I always loved when Edith would break into song and there was an extraordinarily hysterical episode when Archie kept trying to get the Meathead to shut up by singing Tangerine. I could not stop laughing.

This is cool to see, especially with the talented Carroll O'Connor being gone for over 20 years. Roger Kellaway (who always looked older than he was), is actually still alive! However, I do have one bone to pick with Carroll. He basically wrote his own lyrics to an existing song Kellaway had composed. That part is fine, because he asked Kellaway's permission to do so. However, the end credits of "All in the Family" claim that "Remembering You" (the closing theme) was written by both Carroll O'Connor and Roger Kellaway. FALSE! The song was written entirely by Kellaway, and only the lyrics were later added by O'Connor (which weren't used for the end theme of All in the Family -- only the instrumental!) So why does O'Connor get any credit for that? Seems like an ego thing. Kellaway probably couldn't object because he wasn't very famous, and O'Connor was a huge star.

Although I am not deaf, I do have a serious degree of hearing loss which makes it difficult to understand words occasionally, even when I can hear the voice! On this clip, the mike for Mr. Kellaway's piano is too loud, muddying Mr. O'Connor's beautifully-written lyric! I do have the album he made--referenced below--on which he sings this song, and the balance is MUCH better! THAT one I can understand completely!
