  • Hello and welcome back sorry for the delay on getting a video out to you.
Many thanks for coming along for a ride with me today as I try out the new Honda NT1100 DCT.
I must admit I was a little intimidated by this as it was a DCT and I didnt know what to expect from it, but hey all was well and as you will see I loved it.
So please sit back enjoy the ride and dont forget to Subscribe and please feel free to leave any comments.

As another idea. Just ride. Don't look at gear position or rpms. The DCT is designed to learn and predict what you're trying to do. Take off from a traffic light briskly and it will hold the gears longer. Ride sedately and it will shift up to a higher gear sooner. It will change down gears if you whack open the throttle. Try being not so gentle with the throttle and it will predict and adjust accordingly. Ride aggressively it responds altogether differently from cruising. Usually when opening the throttle looking for more acceleration it will drop 2 gears as it "knows" you want to speed up quickly. I'm amazed how "the DCT learned me instead of me learning DCT". 🙂

I live local to you on Alwoodley Lane. I tried the same bike from Craig's Honda. I have a 2014 CB1100EX with full kit. I never expected to change but having ridden it the decision was made. I ordered the NT1100 in white with full Voyger option package. There is a dealer charge to fit the option pack so the price increases to 1684. Total cost 14683. I enjoyed your review which confirmed my thinking and decision. Matt and Keith at Craig's Honda have always provided excellent service.

Welcome to the wonderful world of DCT. I use drive most of the time and do not really care what gear the bikes thinks it should be in but use the flappy paddle to flick down a gear or two if need be. My bike, a VFR1200X comes alive when in sport so the options are there. It also worth noting that DCT will adapt to your driving style so the chugging will not be an issue once you been on the bike for a while. Just found your review and not managed to watch the full video but will come back and see the rest.

My XADV allows me to use the paddles to change a gear at any time in any mode. Once you understand all the flexibility the DCT offers and with custom modes it just gets better and better. I'm a true convert. I wont buy another bike with a traditional manual gear box even if it has shift assist mechanisms. DCT broadens the riding enjoyment with very few drawbacks. For similar reasons I've given up on manual gear box cars, as have most of worldwide car owners. My BMW is collecting dust in my garage as the XADV gets more seat time. As suggested try S1.

Totally agree. I also own a X-ADV. DCT is most enjoyable invention for a pleasant bike ride.

I have the NT 1100 and its a nice bike. I'm converted to DCT gearbox since I traded in the NC 750X. 125 will do it no problem i used to go Ormskirk to Newcastle on a Honda C70 back in the 80s Remember them LOL. Good to see your comments on a first ride. Controlls you do get used to took me about a month but now its second nature. For motorway I can confirm its well suited and with the cruise control Perfect Tourer. When you open the throttle a lot more the gears drop down and it Flies (more twist of the wrist required) carefull as the front wheel starts to lift. And I commute every day filtering is no problem. Android Auto works very well i have used it and is a delight to use , with the navigation, music and Google voice search. Nicely presented with good information. Cheers

Top Box, Comfort Seat, Comfort Pillion Footpegs, Auxiliary Lights, Tank Bag(protector is plastic covers around the magnets of the tank bag). Went recently to Brayley Honda Romford they had an offer of £750 off for the accessory's or off the bike and of course £99 fitment for a tracker. Would ld love one in DCT to upgrade from my Forza 750DCT. But I don't think I can get my leg over. Great review.

Get the NT1100 standard with Quickshifter. A motorcycle is not a boring car . Well it shouldn’t be.

In stead of complaining it is chuggy, sick it into sport or use the flappy paddles which do work in any mode and you will find it is absolutely fine.

I have the Forza 750DCT . It’s a step through. Don’t know if I will even get my leg over. I must get to my local dealership. As with the DCT you’ll be able change gear while in drive but It will never go in a gear if it’s going to damage the engine or gearbox.😊.

Hello thanks for the message. Yes its very nice to ride and if I had got that bike I think I would be tempted to use it in full Auto. I do have a new bike now so after tomorrow when im at the NEC Bike Show I should be putting out a video.

Que tal la honda en comparación con la Versys, cual te gusta más? . No se si lo dices en el vídeo, no tiene subtítulos y no puedo traducirlo a mi idioma. Gracias ✌️

"ride it like you stole it" and it WILL drop gears and will shift at higher revs as it "knows" you're looking for higher performance. In your video you were riding a bit sedately so it accommodated by giving you a sedate experience. Plus of course the sport modes are available to liven things up. The DCT will do its best to understand what you are wanting to do. Not perfect but pretty darn good. 😁

I have the NT1100 DCT…..don’t use Drive but prefer S1 mode with the occasional flappy paddle use. I love it.
Don’t use the Honda tank bag, it badly marks the tank finish….big issues with them.

Shame on Honda. You can try it but it is impossible to receive it before June or even July. My dealership just told me over the phone and I ordered it earlier this year. I live in Switzerland

Sadly where I live if you order an NT1100 today the delivery is 6-7 months! Ugh.

Just to let you know that you can change down or up manually with the flappy paddles on the left hand switchgear when in auto. I don’t know if you didn’t quite press it fully when you did it but it does work. Also I find that it works best for me in Sport 1 for every day riding and if you really want to push on change it toSport2 or Sport 3. I never have it in Drive mode as you found out it is too chuggy 😁👍

Hello and thanks for your comment. I found on my way back that if I wound it on a bit it dropped from 6th to 4th and it was off like a shot. I did try the buttons but I must not have been pushing them hard enough so I will try that next time but I really am looking at buying the NT1100 depending on price and deals that are around.

You need to put the bike in sp1 or something, drive is the economy quick change mode.. It holds on to the gears longer in sport.

Your Versys should handle just as well as that Honda. Add more rear preload if you can, it will sharpen up the steering.

Hi L.R. Your experience intrigues me as my impression is the RS has a lower center of gravity and therefore more manageable? I've not had the opportunity to ride either models but any additional comments on your experiences between the RS and NT would be appreciated. Many thanks, Kevin
