The most popular analysis, which was also confirmed by the director, is how Ditto showed the parasocial relationship from the fan's point of view, this shows the idol's point of view. Each member has lost their identity because they are so eager to please their fans. Hanni feel like she only exists for the fans (I think you missed when she writes to Ban Hesseo, another Ditto reference) . Minji is seen as a mother figure to the girls, but she herself is just one of the girls, Danielle is always seen as so cheerful and laughing at everything, even a staticy TV. Fans always say Haerin resembles a cat and is always so aloof (she's eating a cat treat at the table), And Hyein is the princess of the group. The bear represents the fandom and her true self starts to fade away to make the fans happy. That's the basics of it. These videos is what actually made me stan NewJeans so hard. I LOVE that they're just not simple song and dance videos. The next ones that need some analysis is ETA and Cool With You, thought not as complicated as Ditto and OMG. I can't wait to see the rest of your reactions!

Yeah ETA is very similar to Ditto diving into the para-social aspects again but much more disturbing... Cool with you is my 2nd fave song of theirs and the video is much easier to understand if you have some knowledge of greek mythology and even if not is much easier to decipher and easily explained than the lore heavy ditto and omg

Yes! Ditto I think is K-pop Idols from the perspective of a fan, and OMG is from their perspective. Absolutely wonderful storytelling. NewJeans is so amazing

The cat I think is mostly just a reference to one of the members, Haerin. She is known for having catlike facial features and introverted personality.
In OMG Haerin thinks she is a cat, with a scene of just the other members excl. Haerin staring at the cat.
Early in the first Ditto video, in the VCR videos they call her 'Kitty Kang' (her real name being Kang Haerin), with her responding that she is not a cat.

The Sleeping Beauty/Cinderella reference is hilariously subversive. Danielle plays the prince with the glass slipper. But when rushing to save her (s)he dies in a motorcycle accident. So Sleeping Beauty/Cinderella gets eaten by a bear in the woods. That's dark. They even included 'The Revenant' movie in the fairy tale book index.

There is no motorcycle accident... the toxic fans (represented by the angry bear) kill prince charming because princess hyein belongs to them and no prince is getting in the way of that.
