Your Analysis on 'Ditto' was spot on... 'OMG' is the opposite of Ditto on how the Fans (and the kpop industry in catering for fans) can have negative effects on the idols... I think you got it but for more context the idols have literally forgotten their true selves and become slaves for the fans... hanni being an iphone is the most obvious she exists for you.... haerin is always being told shes looks and acts like a cat by the fans (and even the other members) so now thats all she beleives she is (in ditto side a at the beggining she talks to the same cat... telling it that she isnt a cat... foreshadowing what she becomes in OMG) Hyein is looked on as a fairytale princess ... the 'bear' actually represents the fans as they dont want prince charming to steal her away from them.. she belongs to the fans and fans only... Danielle may appear 'normal' but shes watching white noise probably thinking shes seeing newjeans on the screen (a parallel to heesoo watching white noise in ditto) i beleive she is so consumed in thinking shes an idol thats literally all she is now and not a normal person outside of her group.. and yes Minji is looked on by fans as the 'Mum' of the group so her thinking shes a doctor makes sense so she can still look after her girls even when shes also crazy.

Only to put a little more context, in Danielle part, when she is watching the tv, she's also laughing for nothing in that tv and it's a reference bcs Dani is always smiling, so the fans have the picture in they mind that she's never sad and is a pure ray of happines and always with a smile

You are the first reactor (that I've watched) that understood Ditto immediately to the depth that it presents. Very refreshing lol I hope we see more from this director in future projects, because these are _cinema_ not just MVs. It also helps that the songs are amazing, of course.

There was a time when mvs directors were important, and many of them even directed very good films: Michel Gondry, Stéphane Sednaoui, Mark Romanek, Spike Jonze, Jonathan Glazer, or even Alex Garland, for instance.
I've watched a lot of reactions to NewJeans and it's not often that someone gets Ditto and OMG on the first watch. You were pretty spot on, not only with the analysis, but the feeling that NewJeans gives to their fans. For me it brought back so many memories of when I was younger and it made me connect emotionally to their music and the group.
The only thing I can really add to your analysis of Ditto is that the fawn usually represents innocence and youth in film and literature. Ban Heeseo is faced with the choice to let go of that and the girls, and essentially "grow up". And in the end, she looks back at her time as a NewJeans stan with fondness. As for OMG, it's the perspective of the idols who tend to lose their identity in order to please their fans. You see that especially with Hyein where it seems like she's disappearing cause she so fixated on the fans (the bear). Each member has fallen into the character that the fans see them as; Minji as the mother figure, Hanni as always being there for their fans and doing what they want, Dani always so happy and laughing, even at a staticy tv, Haerin is always compared to a cat, and Hyein the princess. Not sure if you had seen anyone tell this but Heesoo the sixth girl actually have a TH-cam channel with the same name "Ban Heesoo" where she posts those NewJeans clips. just a bit of a cool detail about this comeback, felt so realistic.

Many people criticize new jeans for the fact that they are always predictable not in terms of the clip but the songs. Personally, I think new jeans are perfect for their style and they should stay that way. Their every return was perfect. Their tracks that I recommend listening to next time "zero" "new jeans" "super shy".

Many of us thought that the bathtub scene was recorded since Attention MV, but they said, they had to recreate the scene for this MV, also good analysis from your part, the character 'Ban Heesoo' is called that way because of the fandom Bunnies (in hangeul it's pronounced in a similar way). So Heesoo represents a fan, that believes the members are their friends, and with the time the fan finds other ways to use their time, but at the end the memories will remain. Omg is, as you said, a message to the people that thinks the idols belong to them or owe them something and have to do whatever the fans want.

Yes, there are lots of outstanding groups out there wirh amazing music, interesting concepts and extremely talented individuals.
You could even make the point that there are groups with more sophisticated music and more talented individuals (like better vocalists, better dancers, better performers) and I would certainly agree to that.
But there is something about NewJeans. There is something about their music, their style, their concept that just feels so.. nostalgic but refreshing at the same time. Sure, they don't own it and they certainly didn't invent it, but it suits them a lot and they execute it really well, and their team just knows how to adapt to and capitalize (?) on current trends.
Besides, they are just so easy to love and their music is so.. trendy and easy to listen to and get viral. I believe that's the reason why they are so popular; and I think their impact and influence on Kpop is undeniable, even in the eyes of non-fans and people who don't necessarily like them as much as others (which is totally fine because music taste is subjective).
I got into K-Pop last year through Fifty Fifty's Cupid (and at first I was reluctant to "dig deeper" into it), but it was NewJeans who made me stick around and want to check out more groups. And I'll always be grateful for that.
It has been a very fun and interesting journey because I've been able to discover a very enjoyable side of music that I was not familiar with; and even then, they still remain as one of my two favorite Kpop groups (along with Nmixx).

Great reaction. You don't see the face of the sixth person because it is our face (fans). I feel that this mv is poignant, bittersweet, but with a happy ending (she moved on after successfully coping with a traumatic situation, explained later). In contrast OMG is tragic and sad, predicting that all of the members of NewJeans will eventually be institutionalized from mental breakdowns resulting from their traumatic experiences as Kpop Idols. Anyway, it is amazing that you pulled that meaning so quickly when so many reactors are just lost. IMO, Ditto speaks about the potentially beneficial and potentially toxic parasocial relationship between fans and Kpop Idols. The good is that it can help a fan cope with a bad situation currently being experienced. The girl behind the camera (representing fans) had a cast, possibly from a car accident where she may have lost her parents (never shown), but nevertheless trying to cope with a traumatic experience. The facial expressions on the Boy AND her fellow classmates as she was videotaping give me the impression that they all knew the girl was coping with a traumatic experience and were empathetic but having little idea of how to help her, but knew she needed help. She was comforted by imagining her favorite Kpop group members surrounding her with loving companionship. But eventually she had to face reality in order to move on (broke her camera, backed away from watching her Kpop group dance in front of the train tracks, moved from her imaginary relationship with her Kpop Idols to a real relationship with the Boy). Years later she put in the VHS, and all the happy memories (about how her Kpop group gave her a sense of loving support to help her cope with a traumatic situation) came rushing back. The downside is that if you stay in that imaginary world, your real world will be in ruins as you lose sight of your own necessary personal growth and the needed transition to adulthood with all the associated responsibilities that come with that.
I really enjoyed your analysis! I was neutral on New Jeans up until Ditto. This comeback made me understand why NJ was getting popular so fast. They're doing something completely different from everyone else on the kpop scene and it's exciting to watch.

Hee-soo represents K-pop fans, NewJeans represent K-pop idols, and the guy Hee-soo was interested in represents her actual reality.
Ban Hee-soo sounds like the name of NewJeans’ fandom “Bunnies” and her camcorder represents the screen of our phones. As an easter egg, there is even a TH-cam channel named “Ban Hee-soo” featuring her camcorder recordings that align with the MV’s narrative - she records and uploads the moments she has with the NewJeans girls in efforts to remember them forever.
Hee-soo's interactions with the girls mimics the way K-pop fans can meet their favourite idols up close and personal during fan meetings or gatherings outside show venues. Standing right in front of them and breathing the same air is an incredible dream come true and this elicits a fantasy that their idols are within their arm’s reach.
We see Hee-soo’s illusion of the girls crumble when the guy catches her crying alone. Humiliated, Hee-soo runs away and tries to escape him - her reality. She is about to approach the girls again and finds them performing happily as they always had, but this time without her. As she glances at her unblemished white cast, a symbol of physical or emotional hurt that she had hoped the girls would alleviate, she finally acknowledges there will always be a physical and emotional distance between them. This distance does not change no matter how she may attempt to relate to their burdens like walking in the rain with them instead of using her own umbrella to keep dry.
The deer symbolises the process of Hee-soo’s recovery and self-discovery. It first appeared in what seems to be her dream or subconscious where she stood all alone in a massive endless snowfield that seemed to represent the fantastical yet lonely world of idol chasing. The second time the deer visits Hee-soo, it stands in her familiar school hallway. After assessing her current state and realising that she has decided to return to her real world, the deer finally turns around a corner to leave. The deer may also represent her guardian spirit who came to guide her in the correct direction to lead a fulfilling life.
Overall, I believe that “Ditto” wishes to convey how a fan’s devotion to K-pop can become an unhealthy coping mechanism if left unchecked. By seeking refuge in the K-pop world, obsessive fans may choose to forego their own reality if they can live in a better one. We see this in the persistence of parasocial relationships in the K-pop industry.

Great reaction and analysis. IMO, OMG is foreseeing NewJeans members in the future having mental breakdowns and being institutionalized from their traumatic experiences as Kpop Idols. Yes, this is a tragic storyline, American Horror Story: NewJeans Edition. The contrast between the happy vibe of the song and the darkness of the MV is trully astounding. OMG is a huge meta statement about the parasocial potentially toxic relationship between Kpop Idols and their fans, but from the Kpop Idol perspective. Ditto is about the same parasocial potentially toxic/potentially beneficial relationship, but from the fan perspective. You can see that the 2 mv's are related from the Ditto video dance clips shown on the OMG video. In OMG NewJeans members are being treated after having mental breakdowns from their traumatic experiences as Kpop Idols. Note the song starts "This song is about you Baby. Only you, you you, you, you, you.", and it cuts to face shots of each member of NewJeans as "you" is said. The mv and song is about a POSSIBLY tragic future of NewJeans members (which can be avoided IMO). Hanni (as Siri/Steve Jobs with round glasses, black t-shirt and jeans and sneakers) seems to have accepted her fate, saying that she has lost her sense of self, that she only exists for her fans and to fulfil the needs of those fans (like Kpop idols are want to do, not just iPhones). Harein thinks she is a cat, becoming what her fandom thinks about her in real life (that she is the living embodiment of a cat). Harein is seen nibling on cat food. Heyein is the member with the most entertainment industry experience, having been a busy child actress and here she is lost in the fairytale of one of her early roles (being lost in how her fans think of her). Minji is the Unnie (the actual oldest member who has a clear role to play in any Kpop Idol group), trying to take care of her members and bringing them to be treated (fulfilling the Unnie role that her fans expect from her). Note that at one point in the video, she stands over HERSELF, and brings herself into the ambulance, and obviously needs treatment too as she has also lost her sense of self and is lost in her fan created role of caretaker for her members. Only Danielle can remember that they were members of NewJeans, but she is institutionalized too, suffering mental issues, but not to the point of losing her memories. Danielle is really Danielle from NewJeans, but she is imagining that she is still shooting music videos. She is imagining the crew is there. Mentally she is trapped in her NewJeans past. BTW, IMO the Bear represents the fandom. Potentially very protective like a moma bear, but also potentially vicious and ferocious and deadly (as toxic Kpop netizens are want to be).

I already said everything in my comment on your first newjeans video, but to re-iterate, please watch both versions of Cool With You. Unlike Ditto, it's the same story that continues immediately after the end of side A. Also there is a short song interlude tacked onto the end of Side B that does not get it's own MV due to it's length.

Your theories are close to other's theories. You can read some interpretations in the comments below the mvs. Btw, the fawn (baby deer) is representing childhood or maybe purity and with the leaving deer at the end of the 2nd part childhood is gone and adulthood has come
As for OMG, the roles that they have in the mv is like the roles the get from fans in some way: Hyein - the visuals (princess), Haering - Kitty Kang (cat), Danielle - Girl's crush or Rizz girl (prince), Hanni - idol (the metaphor through phone, idols are always in our phones), Minji - leader, mom of the group (doctor who cares about them).
And you should check out their performance videos for these songs, especially for OMG (it is the most popular video of the group rn)

I TOTALLY understand what you mean when you say you didnt really get the hype from their first EP... as huge of a newjeans fan as i am now NONE of the first EP gets on my playlist... I got into them after hearing 'newjeans' and 'supershy' and being a massive Mainstream UK Garage fan I couldnt beleive their was pretty much an entire EP based on Mainstream early 2000s UK garage in kpop.... aftr that i went and listened to their earlier stuff... loved ditto and omg as well.. but the 90s rnb from the first EP wasnt really 'different' enough for me.... i get the hype because in a current kpop market completely oversaturated with girl groups having that aggressive trap rap style of blackpink.. newjeans brought in something different... but me .. a fan from 2nd gen the 90s rnb vibe wasnt anything new to me (it was pretty big in 2nd gen) but i guess how younger fans hadnt really heard it being from what 15 odd years ago lol... I like it though.. just not half as much as everything they did afterwards.

The problem with your fan theory is that when Hesoo inserted the tape into the TV, the girls do appear in the video, so they did exist! Therefore, for me, the correct theory is that they were friends of Hesoo but died in an accident, and the only one who survived was her. That's why she has a bandaged arm indicating an accident, and everything else is just the post-traumatic shock she suffered.

There is a theory that all the members of newjeans died in an accident which envolves the deer. And heosoo was the only that survived the accident and she can't accept what happened in side A. Where in side B she already accepted the fact that they are all gone and she needs to move on by the help of the male character in the MV.
