Holy crap this was awesome! Thank you! I just bought a new boat and needed to update the Simrad. I couldn't get it to read the card. Had no idea why until i watched this. I used a 64 gig. I owe you!
I bought a Hummingbird 2 back in 1996. SO simple. Looked at it, saw the bottom, saw the fish. No uploads, no bullshit. For what we spend on these things they should update them for us from the factory via satellite.
After updating wirelessly my evo3 i cant get any depth, when entering the echosounder settings i can see my transducer b175m but its greyed out, i even swapped the wire to transducer 2 slot but same problem any help ?
@@frankiewilde1137 If it’s greyed out it’s auto selected. On your echo page go into your menu and make sure you have the right source selected for that transducer
Mike - anyone have previous versions of the NSS EVO 2 software. I upgraded to 18.3 (from V7) and am having difficulty with structurescan right now. Had some dialog with local reps about disconnecting, factory reset, re-connect and discover SS transducers. I am going to try that BUT would love to have V17 or V16 of the SIMRAD software to try a previous version as well.
I got my NSS7 EVO 3 back in 2017 and it worked fine until I recently made the (then) unwitting mistake, of downloading the 23.4 update via WiFi then installed it. Totally messed up the unit. After much wasted time testing my transducer, including two major time investment test trips, I removed the unit and transducer from the boat and took it to my very helpful Simrad outlet. They determined that the hardware seemed fine and as soon as I said I'd downloaded via WiFi, they suggested I might have to do a factory reset. I eventually did that and the unit is now better than ever. So guys, never update via WiFi...use your secondary SD card like here in this posting. If you are going to do the factory reset make sure to back up your stored waypoints... I forgot to and had to re-enter them reading off my old hand held etrex.
Anyone else having issue updating the nss9 evo3 ? I’m on the 19.1 software at the moment and there is no drop down for this model only the nss evo3s and I tried that but it won’t work . I have emailed and called Simrad over a dozen time for help and there tech support never responded . Any help will totally be appreciate.
Maybe a video on how you have your sonar set up and why, there is so many settings on the chart and sonar that I don’t know which is best. I love your videos cause they are usually very short and to the point. No BS! Keep up the good work!
How do you uninstall update? I updated my GO9 last summer for the "1st time" to 18.3 via hotspot from my phone to the simrad GO9. I am in a hit & miss cell signal area and the update took place "almost" complete. The unit now uses the update but a few features don't work. Simrad says because of an interruption right at the end from cell signal loss had enough to accept update but without a few bits. How do I go back to factory software so I can download it via SD card this time?
You can do a hard reset, everything will go back to factory settings and you will lose waypoints. The reset procedure is online, sorry I don’t have it handy for Go. You should be able to do a proper update with a card without having to reset it though.
@@MikeSmedleyOLDSCHOOLSTRIPERS DEFINITELY don't want to do hard reset if risk of losing any waypoints until I am POSITIVE the waypoints are positively saved and can be reloaded. If I lost them i would sell the boat! Now! I must run outside and try to save my waypoints again before I have a panic attack. Last waypoint backup was a year ago.
Hi mate, can u not update directly on the screen via wifi? And how big memory sd card do you recommend for the evo 3? And can you use the card to store films etc to watch on the screen? Cheers, ben. Tasmania
Mike I noticed on your machine you have the Suzuki icon for this Suzuki gauges. Do you know how I can download them on my machines. I don't have a Suzuki but I would love to download the Evinrude one
I have all of that and it will work if I click on the instrument icon on the home screen I'm asking how do i get the Evinrude icon on the home screen so I can use that interface instead of just using the standard instrument interface that comes on all the simrad units
You can use a stick drive on the Evo3 and NSO and NSE since they have USB ports on the back, but Go Series and NSS Sports only have memory card slots. Good question.
@@MikeSmedleyOLDSCHOOLSTRIPERS It’s more than mine ! Maybe I’ll try WiFi, my chart is very slow to load and frequently freezes, or whites out ? Do you think it needs to be updated, the navionics platinum chip is new ? Thanks.
I would definitely update it. They are constantly fixing clitches and making things run smoother. You can use wifi if your boat is close to the house or if your phone is a wifi hotspot. If you want to email your address I can send you a memory card with your update already on it. Just pop it in and hit upgrade. Just sent the card back when your done. 👍Mikesmedley9@gmail.com.
Just wanted to let you know if you ever want to use a card bigger then 32gb in any kind of device that says it only supports 32GB. All you have to do is format the card into fat32. will you have to use a 3rd party program called smartdisk_fat32_tool.exe The devices will be able to use the full cards memory then, just every file will be no bigger then 4gb each Watch my channel I did a tutorial on it, on my sjcam2000
They are grossly over-loaded with calls. No kidding, they get 1000 calls a day asking what transducer is best Kingfish, Salmon, Cod, Tuna, etc. I don’t know how they can help anyone at all😳.

I was stuck on doing my update until I heard you say the SD card must be less than 64, which is what I was using. Just ordered a 32. Thanks much.
Thanks brother!! Someone more computer savvy than myself said you can actually format the 64 to a 32 to make it work.
Hello, I would like to see if you could help me. The file folder appears but the text to update it does not appear.
Good stuff. Thanks bud!!

Hi Mike, I have a GO7 with 1 micro SD port, can the same card be used for both Navionics charts and SIMRAD software updates?
Technically you can, but I wouldn’t recommend it. You will need a card 32G or smaller.
Hey mike how did you get the Suzuki button on your unit I have go 9 tied into nema 2000 and I don’t the Suzuki option
Have you done a recent update? It should pop up with an update.
Mike Smedley no I will have to see what update I have it in because I just bought it last fall so I will have to check the software
My microsd card doesn’t show up under storage after I plug it in. Do you know why that could be?
It’s probably too large. Use a card 32gig or less.

The Suzuki interface is built in with NMEA 2000. You will need an Etec engine interface cable and fuel data manager. 👍

Not sure if you can. Suzuki has a Partnership with Navico.
Ok thanks Mike. Keep up the good videos.

Can you use a memory stick instead of those micro cards. I have always wondered how those updates worked. Thanks for the video.
