I own Simrad on one boat and Raymarine on the other. Simrad has very rudimentary waypoint management while Raymarine has outstanding waypoint management. Key features that Simrad is missing: 1) waypoint grouping 2) ability to turn on or off waypoint names for a group 3) different size waypoint icons (fish icons are tiny) 4) ability to bulk edit a group of waypoints 5) ability to filter waypoints by a string and then batch edit the filtered group The lack of these features makes the Simrad unusable for most fishermen and cruisers. I do not have a dog in this hunt other than making people aware of the shortcomings of Simrad.
I just bought a boat with the NSS9 EVO3 unit with all the bells and whistles, your video is awesome, it help me understand the unit. I do only have one unit, so the question I have is how to connect couple of more units, and what units would you recommend? Thank you!🤙🤙
@@Walternator Hi Walter. We are glad you found the video useful. If you are adding displays I would stick with the NSS series. With a NMEA 2000 backbone kit and a Simrad Ethernet cable you will be able to link the displays and share all the screens and data.
On the Evo 3 you have to press and hold the power button for a few seconds to turn it off. You can also go to the home screen and press the power button on the lower right corner of the touch screen. Then just press the power off button on the pop up menu. I hope this helps.
I have a 12" Medallion digital display on my boat. Through which I can control all the boat's features like lights, pumps, fans, etc. Can the EVO3 control those features too? Or would I need to install extra switches on the helm for those features?
The NSS Evo3 line will support the control and monitor of C-Zone and Naviop branded products with the factory installed hardware. Depending on what digital switching system Medallion is using will depend on the compatibility with the NSS product. It would also require a certified technician to come to the boat and program the switching system to accept another device on the network.
You must have inadvertently changed the settings. Try calling the tech support line when you are in front of the display and they can get your settings restored.
For the Simrad NSS evo3 s is there a way to set up for different captains preferred display of images at start up? For example if Capt A likes Depth, Nav, and Radar displayed in an order or color could he select his setting . While Capt B likes his setting in a different arrangement, gain or color Could he have his setting at start up?
To the best of my knowledge, you can custom set combination screens with data windows but you would have to select the saved screen combo after startup from the home screen. The data units would have to be the same however (can't have knots and MPH on the different pre-set screens at the same time). They are always working on software updates however, and I would think that would be something they may be able to program in the software. What do you think @SimradYachting
What combo is the best for you and how would you set it up?

Great series 🤙🤙
Glad you liked the series. Are you looking to buy one or researching to better understand the unit you have?

is there a way to add a VRM to the Chart Page? Not the Radar page
Is there a saltwater trolling motor that integrates with the EVO? AFAIK the ghost is freshwater only. Thanks
lost the data box and can't seem to be able to have my route marked on the chart.

Is it possible to update the preloaded cmaps?
If you use the evo3s as the sonar unit can you display the sonar on a nss evo2 unit thru the network connections. Thanks
Yes you can. You will need to network the two displays with network and NMEA 2000 connections.
