Correct. I discovered this channel via a random episode of Freeways, and I really applaud the practice. After all, the one I clicked on was recommended by youtube, and you never know when you're uploading which one will go viral, so might as well treat each one as a visitor's first. Also, seeing him explain it each time has not gotten annoying to me at all because he manages to introduce each concept the moment it comes into play in the video and not a moment sooner.

I'm on 35079 with still some room for improvement. Tightening up all the intersections in a game without undo is not that fun....
Truly the end of an era. I discovered RCE thru Freeways, so it's kinda bittersweet seeing its conclusion. Still hooked up with a lot of the other series, ofc!

Level 78 seems to remain "unsimulated" and, hence, unscored. To become more "1%-ish", you need every pinch of score!
Maps that have only one entrance and one exit don't get simulated. This is why the "strongest shape" road he did at the beginning and the one in the top left that bridges out over the ocean along with a few others I believe don't have a score. There is no simulating them because there is no traffic jam issue to calculate against.

This is a good ending....im glad to be apart of the freeway journy. Now we just need a 10 hour screan saver of following a car through his interchanges
I'm in San Antonio and we have soooo many 4 level stack interchanges. Most of them in very popular areas so they're not very symmetrical, but usually pretty efficient. I was told they build so many bridges here cause they don't have to worry about freezing much

There’s some that are even more than 4 levels if I remember correctly. I lived in San Antonio, well a subdivision called Cibolo for a summer. Right next to a huge 8 lane highway. I think it was like 34 or 35 I don’t remember but I remember the interchanges being huge

Unless you're 35 - 410 or 1604 - 35. At least they finally did an interchange for 1604 - 281.
The one in the image also looks like the cross thing on german military vehicles.

It would also be cool if cars accelerated on "straight" pieces of road and braked realistically: then you'd really have to think about traffic and sensible road designs

Probably not because it is supposed be like that. It's not a esport neither he is speed runner or esport player , he is just guy who loves and enjoys playing games just like us.
Games are supposed to be enjoyed no matter what , if you play bad or good , what matters is enjoying it.
Also, he need to make content on variety of games if he wants to reach new heights.👍
@@WelcomeToCJWorld freeways is such an iconic and fun series, so it’s so disappointing that it’s gonna end. that’s why op wants to find ways to extend the series. the purpose isn’t to actually maximize efficiency in the game, but to make the series longer. i don’t think he should try to maximize efficiency to extend the series, tho. personally, i’d like to see videos of him using ridiculous and silly interchanges and seeing if he can still get a good score.

It's funny that, in that final level, you went for various 4-way interchanges when I, an American, immediately thought "roundabout!"

At least in Cities Skylines, roundabouts are only good of medium-level traffic. Once it gets too much, everything clogges up and slows to a crawl.
4:17 this shit is why I watch these videos. Love how efficient he always makes his road designs. It's why I love this series, why I love infraspace, cities skylines, and any other free designing games he plays

I've spent quite a few hours on this game trying to optimize my roads and have managed to get to 28K and you just casually finish the game with over 30K. Lol. Fantastic job
3:16 I live near this nice roundabout... Maybe nothing special but fun to see that in a game and your video 😀 But unfortunately there is a bridge in this picture, a little bit above the interchange. Unfortunately, this was destroyed in the floods of 2021. Just 1 or 2 months after the completion of the construction work... RIP Bridges of Ahr Valley 😞And more than 40 bridges were also destroyed...
Just search Ahrtal Flut B9 Brücke, but there are many more innocent Bridges killed

Hey RCE, you should look into scrap mechanic. It's got a challenge mode that i think you will enjoy, and its got a steam workshop to play challenges your fans can build for you! There's even mod support

Great Series btw. I've been watching a lot of your videos lately and Freeways was my first video of yours that I watched.
Another clasical REC series that ends. Good times were had.
My current world efficiency after building all 81 screens is just shy of 31 thousand but with a load of optimisations still to do, and I've managed to unlock all pictures also.
On the instructions screen the left and right hand side shows all the pictures you can unlock. You can see in the video that when you were on that screen one picture was darkened on the left hand side. Look around 14:26.
I've got a list somewhere of the order of the pictures and which screen they were from.
I've watched "Biertier, ze German engineer" play this and he's got over 40,000 world efficiency from what I recall by optimising so much it's unbelievable. It's well worth looking at to see how much the screens can be improved.
I really hope matt continues this series by Tring to increase his score a lot
another thing matt should play is a mobile game called intersection controller. It isn't a bad game

Id love to see 1 final episode where you try and squeeze every last point out of all the levels even if that makes thedesigns a little les strong shape etc.
Is anyone else bothered by the fact, the levels: 23, 41, 64 and 78 have no score?...

I’ve literally never heard of this game, have no knowledge of highway systems, but this popped up in my recommended and I said “sure, why not.” So here I am.
That graphical issue actually does affect flow because other cars on that bridge stop to give way to the car that glitches through.

I did a playthrough of the whole thing and on my first attempt i got 25K total, which seeing your score now, i suck at the game
given the fact that Texas has some of the fastest highways in America, having a 4-level stack interchange is not a surprise. (Yes, it is a big waste of money and do nothing to reduce car-dependency.)
Texas also has one of the biggest highway budgets. The literally do the dumbest crap to keep the funding there.
Try Workers&Resources: Soviet Republic. I think you will love it.

One of the cool things about San Antonio was the massive highway interchanges. There are several that have bridges that soar over, over 100 feet tall. Giant multilayered bridges, it was actually super cool to go over some and almost look like you were taking off in an air plane, if you looked over the edge watching the city fall away.
Okay, no, that was the only cool thing about living in San Antonio...

In the intro when you said "levels that nearly broke me" and showed level 57, I felt that. Only ever got to around ~150 and I have no idea how to improve. Could try to copy your design one to one but that feels like cheating lol.

i personally would love if he just went crazy on every level and made super ridiculous and silly roads. he gets really creative with the unscored levels, so it would be fun the result if he ignores the scores for all of the levels and just goes wild.
Maybe he could beat levels without using bridges.
Nice to see an interchange which is only a few kilometers away from me :D The interchange in Sinzig isn't that heavily used and you can get quite easily onto the roundabout

I think I'm a bit late to the party, but you should check out mindustry. It's a pretty cheap (cost wise) indie game kinda like Factorio but more focused on tower defense. There's a huge tech tree, as well as a whole planet to conquer. It's really fun and pretty challenging, and I think you'd like it
