Sailing from Auckland to Bay of Islands, New Zealand

We finally finish our lap of the Hauraki Gulf and head back to the Bay of Islands completing Tāiko's shakedown cruise. We've all come back different from this trip. Tāiko has come back as a CAT 1 registered vessel ready for her first offshore passage and successfully completing her shakedown cruise. Adam as a more confident skipper of Tāiko and Vicki as a more confident sailor. Now we wait for the right weather window for Fiji.

In December 2021 we moved aboard our sailboat Te Tāiko, a Chico 40. Tāiko is our floating home. She gives us the freedom to go anywhere the wind and weather allows. Our plan? We try not to make too many plans but we're currently in Fiji and will see where wind and sea will take us next. In the meantime, follow along with us as we navigate this lifestyle whilst sharpening our skills sailing New Zealand waters. We release a new video every Sunday.

Thank you and thanks for watching. Thank you for the feedback. Yes, we try but we’re still learning and we were still getting use to our smaller Sony camera. However, on our crossing to Fiji we lost both our drone and our smaller Sony so relying mostly on GoPros and our bigger Sony until we can afford a new camera. Wish us luck and we hope you will continue to follow us on our journey. Adam & Vicki
