    If you can't find these cardboard sheets, you can also use poster board from dollar tree or Walmart. It's actually stiffer than the cardboard. Also, trash bags will work if you don't have the poly bags.

    • @PrimeTimeTreasureHunter
      @PrimeTimeTreasureHunter  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes on the trash bags but if you are selective with the cardboard sheets you can find ones thicker than Walmart poster board. Have to stay away from the flimsy ones

    These videos on shipping are really important. Shipping has been one of the reasons I haven't sold online. I feel clueless on shipping and the stuff I have sold has killed me on shipping.

    One of the first items I sold on eBay last year was a Norman Rockwell Saturday Evening Post magazine. It was large and heavy and was going to go Priority Mail so I went to the Post Office to get an idea how to mail it. The clerk said to take one of the mailing boxes, say a 1095, and simply slide it inside without folding it in to the box shape. In other words, just leave it flat and tape the ends good as you suggested in this video. I put the piece in a plastic bag, or padded envelope, and insert into the box, tape, and ship. Works great! Great video!

    I work in a postal processing plant for 10 years and never saw anyone bend or break something on purpose. Postal workers like to get the stuff they order in one piece too and when things are damaged it’s almost always the fault of the automated machines.

    I've shipped this way before. For added strength you can cut your two pieces with the grain running at a 90 degree angle to each other. It makes it much harder for the USPS to bend it.

    For anyone learning, this is an excellent video. Just be careful with the stamps, they tend to bleed off badly, depending on the surface. Writing is fine, but I eventually just bought a roll of 500 or so stickers for just a few dollars. I also opted for "Please" do not bend, just because of how I was raised. 👼

    • @PrimeTimeTreasureHunter
      @PrimeTimeTreasureHunter  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The stamp will bleed on a poly mailer for sure. I put it on the paper label to prevent that. Good tip on the please part.

      @@PrimeTimeTreasureHunter That sense on the paper label for the poly mailer. I learned a difficult lesson when I was using cardboard mailers for postcards. The mailers had a slight sheen on the surface and I never thought twice. Made a mess.

    I use a plain white garbage bag that I get in a roll from Wally World. I would NEVER EVER send anything without putting it in a protective plastic bag. Also, if you had just scored the one piece and folded it you would have created a side thay wasn't open. Then you can tape the bag to the cardboard and the print won't slide. I double wrap in cardboard and after taping all sides I then place it in a large black contractor's bag, also can purchase in a roll at Wally World and Badda Bing, good to go and completely waterproof. Great video Dom ❤️‍🔥👩‍🌾

  • @bat2275
    @bat2275 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Another way to secure the print in the middle is to put it in a giant bag. In this case I would use a garbage bag. You tape the bag so that it is the same size as the print. Similar to the way a comic bag holds a comic book. Then you take the bag in the middle of the cardboard. This way no tape can contact the print and the print cannot move.

    Hi DOM, I’m not selling my artwork it’s all mine lol. As usual very helpful. The only thing I might add is a concern that when the buyer is opening the package they might slid a knife between the two pieces of cardboard ( which should never happen) accidentally damaging the print. Maybe marking the cardboard saying which side is the front and is protected by the bubble wrap, and indicating the best spot to open would be helpful. I know it seems like a no brainer, and it is not your responsibility, but if the print gets damaged they will no doubt blame you. Just a thought, maybe not a good one but I buy art and will avoid pieces when the previous owner has caused any damage to the piece. Xoxo to 🐶

      @@PrimeTimeTreasureHunter Where I worked both types would have been called slipsheets. They had the same purpose of slipping over a wooden slatted pallet to make sure nothing slipped between the slats, whether it would be a bag of feed or seed, or say the tip of an expensive fishing rod. I preferred the thicker cardboard as opposed to the thin paper like ones. Nothing worse than trying to clean up a bunch of corn or fertilizer speared by the forks of a pallet jack.
