Two DDZ's are far more efficient and can do just as much bass or more. (SPL) Or 2 powerful Sundown 15's (Music) without needing so many batteries and crap just to run that one sub alone.
I work with systems measured in 100s of Kilowatts :) - Proper enclosure design will trump massive speakers with an assload of power dumped into them every time due to many physical effects that work against you, not least of which is power compression. Not saying this isn't loud, but there's certainly better ways to do it if your aim is to rattle your car to bits.
@canipplecorpse and rms is just a factory rated number they want you to stay around there to be safe mainly cause noone understands what a clean signal is and never use a O scope to set the head unit and amp but if you have a clean signal you can almost double if not more on higher end subs
I have 2 15" Fi BTL N2. 2 optima red tops. 1 300 amp alt. on 4000watts rms. The box is low tuned to 33hz. And it produces higher SPL than this. I watched the video of the BL's beating this system. The BL's beat me by .3 decibels...

so what you are saying is that a 15 inch will have more cone aerea in a box as opposed to a 22 inch sub??? Also it's not very practical to have such a large sub i n your car. The human ear can handle a max of 120 DB. The MTX produces 10 times that amount, so if you listen to it for 5 minutes, you will probably suffer damage to your ears. Also, it takes up mopre space in the back of your car, a smaller sub will give you more space for storage.
Lets think about that. One of your 12s is about 113 square inches so 2 12s will be roughly 226 in^2. He has a 22 in woofer so that's about 380 in^2. So even if you added another woofer, you would still be wrong. You don't even move as much air as 1 18" much less a 22".
...then again the fact that that kicker 15 is old and not very powerful and still gets loud on 300 watts or less due to the high efficiency of the enclosure is a good example of why the sub itself or even the cone area aren't everything.
I've been doing car audio for over 25 years. And if I could ever get MTX to play. They never last long.The amps are ok but the subs suck. And so does this guy running his mouth. If someone would just punch him once. He would shut down.

@huntergluck That's not how it works at all. 300 wrms is how much power the sub can take unti it starts distorting. The peak is where it blows up. If you feed it 400 watts you will have a distorted signal. The only real way you can get more power out of a sub is if you wire two up to the same channel in parallel.

On the most expensive sound system in existence, that bass would sound just as distorted as it does on your laptop speakers.
And in person, it would sound amazing.
This is because the camera's MICROPHONE can't handle the extreme ammount of bass.
For some reason, people on TH-cam just dont understand that.
It gets clipped at the source. Our ears can hear much better than any microphone can pick up.

really?? EVEN the Jackhammer??? Yeah, I would have thought that for a 22 inch sub it would have had wayyyyyy more wattage. But only 4,000 watts RMS for a 22 inch??? Come on -_- EVEN the Earthquake is a 15 inch yet it has 7,000 watts RMS. So it would make more sence to have the Jackhammer at least the same or more then the Earthquake.........

I really don't get why people record videos of subs playing I mean they all sound the same on camera just show us how much stuff on your vehicle is shaking and we'll know how bad ass you are but when you show just the sub with that small of travel then nah you won't get anywhere

Well..I have not put my ride on a dyno, why would I? but it does take away HP, not 60 hp and definetly NOT enough that I can't drive it normally. I ain't bitchin' though cause' whatever power I loose under the hood...I gain in voltage and...booom ;)
haha jesus u must be slow alright lets do the math...steve has 8 RF 2500s correct? they do like anywhere from 3400 to 3600 watts TOPS alright add that up... lets just go with the highest number 3600 times 8 thats 28800 ok u still with me? ON FOUR 18"... ok my guy has SIX 18" on 3 DC Audio 9k's thats rated power they can do 10k EACH easy thats 30,000rms easy... and my dude has TWO more 18s than meade in a box 3 times the size of meades trust me he touches it.. ;)
@canipplecorpse not really you can stick twice as much RMS to a sub the signal depends on the amp and head unit if its sending a clipped signal to the sub im puttin more than rms to my sub i was putting almost double to my BLs and they were fine just gotta make sure its a clean signal coming from the amp

@jesseadkins187 i didnt think the sls2000 was putting out what it said either. im trying to decide what amp to run next on the 3 15" im putting in my benz.i need about 2500 rms but im staying away from amps like power coustik ,lanzar,,pyle,and garbage companies like that.i was looking at a planet audio 4000 watt but dont have any experience with them so i dont know if it will be any good or not.
@jesseadkins187 yea im not sayin i hit the same numbers im sayin it looks like i got a lil more excursion with the mmat.you bottomed out at 700 watts? what size box did you have it in ? they rms at 750 peak at 1000.i ran mine on a 2000 watt power coustik and never bottomed out or clipped. something that looks as impressive as the jackhammer would be a main attraction,my point was simply that you can hit better numbers with subs that cost way less thats all.im currently moving up to 3 15"s

@calvinblinkee Why over size? 22" sub rated at 6000WRMS that does 148.8 at 13,000W? That POS costs $6,500 or more. You can put together a sick system with fucking 6k. Plus, you can outrun the jackhammer easily with 4 12''s (for example) in a good box with a good amount of power. I have seen single 8" subs doing 150+! In conclusion, the jackhammer sucks...
@huntergluck That's not how it works at all. 300 wrms is how much power the sub can take unti it starts distorting. The peak is where it blows up. If you feed it 400 watts you will have a distorted signal. The only real way you can get more power out of a sub is if you wire two up to the same channel in parallel.
how much the box weigh? i know the sub weighs over 100 lbs cause i watched pimp my ride where a buick century got one of those and a bread truck with 2

@kbaldeo well this isnt my setup but thanks man its a buddys old setup hes currently running 6 18's SMD's on 27,000 watts but yeah for the jackhammer it doesnt need to much excursion cause of the amount of cone area... but yea the camera doesnt pick up all the excursion but it was moving pretty good for how big the cone is
