this video is for all those idiots who say George can only play blast beats with triggers on his bass drums. Keep up the good work Sir Kollias, youre a champ.
Winter Sun It's not only that, bro. In his DVD lessons he says that he uses triggers only live cuz mics can't get the bass drum to sound normally on such high speeds when playing on a stadium etc. In the studio he uses microphones on the bass drums, so this argument is soooooooooo wrong. :)

Why ? It really could be THAT epic ! Have you tried Dark Hall's "The Pharaoh and the Nomad" ? Give it a try, and maybe you will reconsider the "sacrilege" ;)
He looks like he's holding back with so much restraint knowing at any second he could fucking blast away and crumble the surrounding room to smithereens if he wanted.
No hes probably thinking about how best to serve the song and thinking about his timing not how he could ruin it by blasting where its not called for. The fact hes playing this just shows how versatile he is and gives me even more respect for his ability.
When I first saw George Kollias, I just thought he was another blast beat drummer who wanted to see how fast he could move his hands and feet, but this shows me this cat has feel and taste and can play a wide variety of music equally good. Very impressed.
I know this comment is 4yrs old, but even still, you have to be pretty arrogant to think that a drummer just does what they do for the sake of it when there's a difference in showing and doing what you do because the music you play calls for it.
Outo John True man. When i sarted listening to metal my musical preferences directly started to grow . Now im listing from Nile to Mendelssohn and i also love jazz :F

Even by just appreciation...if you only listen to a genre, you are (for sure) losing some good stuff for you. Specifically talking about drummers... it's veeeery common for metal drummers to play jazz as well.

this! People don't get this mostly, they see some metal drummer blasting his ass off for 10 mins and they go: ''Dude this is shit!'' This drummer has no soul/groove''. Different styles demand a different approach, it doesn't make a black metal drummer less skilled than your groovalicious funk drummer. Some People man!
Slayer Are you sure? I know Rich was fast as fuck back in the day, but George is insanely talented, very few if no other drummers do extreme metal and jazz. He is used to speed.
@@DoubleCGamesStudios Buddy Rich tribute requires top notch left hand traditional grip hand technique. As far as I know, the only drummer who has achieved this level of skill is jojo mayer.

I love how people will talk shit about George being just a good metal drummer and then he plays this just for fun! Death metal drummers are usually by far the most versatile!
Yeah agreed, I think even Jay Weinberg is doing a better job than joey in slipknot... I don't know if anyone can really compare to george... Only Hannes Grossman in my mind... but still, they have rather different styles and approaches...
lukeskywalker lets say it like this. In the late times of joey he was very sloppy and bored during live shows cause he was depressed and on drugs. But if you look at one of his performances before pauls death, RaR 2009 or london arena 2002 you will know why I tell you now that he was way way better than jay ever was. In the early times of slipknot joey was for real the best nu metal drummer on the world. And yeah, there isn't really anyone who is compareable with george... maybe nils dominator from dark funeral. hes also a sick dude blasting for like 20 sec at 285 bpm. Or trey williams from dying fetus
