this video is for all those idiots who say George can only play blast beats with triggers on his bass drums. Keep up the good work Sir Kollias, youre a champ.
Winter Sun It's not only that, bro. In his DVD lessons he says that he uses triggers only live cuz mics can't get the bass drum to sound normally on such high speeds when playing on a stadium etc. In the studio he uses microphones on the bass drums, so this argument is soooooooooo wrong. :)
Probably the first jazz drummer with Fleshgod Apocalypse t-shirt I've ever seen xD but truly, George has perfect sense for this kind of music as well, perfect dynamics and all...
Thanks so much everyone! Reference Pure here too, 20 kick, 10 tom, 14 floor with a Masters Legend snare. Sabian Artisans and Legend cymbals, sounded killer! It's way more fun to post a "band clip" than just jamming so here you go...Very glad you like it! thank you again folks!
When I first saw George Kollias, I just thought he was another blast beat drummer who wanted to see how fast he could move his hands and feet, but this shows me this cat has feel and taste and can play a wide variety of music equally good. Very impressed.
I know this comment is 4yrs old, but even still, you have to be pretty arrogant to think that a drummer just does what they do for the sake of it when there's a difference in showing and doing what you do because the music you play calls for it.
Outo John True man. When i sarted listening to metal my musical preferences directly started to grow . Now im listing from Nile to Mendelssohn and i also love jazz :F

Less accomplished drummers just want to believe that great metal drummers can only play fast, metal songs, because they don't have the speed or stamina to perform most metal songs, let alone a respectable level of technical skill.
Slayer Are you sure? I know Rich was fast as fuck back in the day, but George is insanely talented, very few if no other drummers do extreme metal and jazz. He is used to speed.
@@DoubleCGamesStudios Buddy Rich tribute requires top notch left hand traditional grip hand technique. As far as I know, the only drummer who has achieved this level of skill is jojo mayer.

lukeskywalker lets say it like this. In the late times of joey he was very sloppy and bored during live shows cause he was depressed and on drugs. But if you look at one of his performances before pauls death, RaR 2009 or london arena 2002 you will know why I tell you now that he was way way better than jay ever was. And yeah, there isn't really anyone who is compareable with george... maybe nils dominator from dark funeral. hes also a sick dude blasting for like 20 sec at 285 bpm. Or trey williams from dying fetus
I can't really comment on the live performances... however we will prob have to wait and see when jay finally writes his own drum tracks for slipknot. I understand that clown wrote the drums for the gray chapter... Funny thing tho, I think Jays dad is actually way better than Jay...
