Agree Paul that the MGTF Spark is the best one of the range to go for.I have one in nightfire red with matching hardtop.I use it all year round and have owned it for nearly 3yrs .Needs some money spent on it..new tyres, mot plus a few advisories to sort. All will be done for spring so can continue having fun...always puts a smile on my face and I love it's British heritage even though the build quality ain't as good as the MX5 for example.Thsnks for great video!

NF red is one of the best colours for the TF imo. They suffer with rust as you know in key structural areas on those metro subframes. They are a lot of fun as you know for not a lot of money, keep those wheels spinning.

Thanks for a good video, one or two things worth knowing ,like standard springs and shocks on the newer models, the the mgf and mgtf,s look rapid, I am know 50,and still miss my nove sr,with lowered suspension, janspeed exhaust and Yokohama tyres, and k&n filter, and after that I had a fiesta 1.8 16v...

Nice example with good ones starting to increase in value now especially special edition models, I use an MGF VVC as a daily runaround it’s great fun and reliable. Tyres as you say are critical DO NOT COMPROMISE on them get advice from MG owners clubs on suitable ones, I run Toyo Prox’s TR1’s and they give great performance on mine wet & dry.

I believe the very last sparks (05 reg) had the later MY2005 so called soft ride suspension but didnt have the glass rear screen because those hoods weren’t made in the salt and pepper colour. The MY2005 suspension was better but I still changed mine to Bilstiens which transformed the ride. I dont think all Sparks had the MY2005 suspension as some were too early.

I think you are right about the earlier ones maybe, this particular one also has Bilstiens but the 2004 spark I had did not. In both cases though the ride was better than standard tfs. Think all 2005 had glass rears to use up the stock. Good to hear from you. 👍

Nothing wrong with the TF, buy a good one and you'll have a great car, I have a 135, its royal blue which is a great colour, mine had a few extras like chrome pack Alcantara seats, 16" alloy wheels with AP calliper's, very similar spec to the spark, I only paid £650 and its in excellent condition, I spent money to get a upgraded head gasket kit and had it professionally fitted, multi layer payen head gasket high tensile head bolts and a heavy duty oil rail. The gasket on the car was fine but for piece of mind I went for the full kit due to paying such a low price for the car, its never given me any problems, had it five years and just had an MOT with no advisories, personally I keep away from the VVC, its a good engine but most garages won't touch them, and if they do its expensive.

Very true, they are a bargin really as long as long as its not a basket case no different to any older car. They still get knocked by people who've never had one, bargin summer fun.

Brilliantly positive review of what's turned out to be my favourite and longest cherished car, had mine 10 years now and wouldn't be parted from it! I'm interested in the aftrer market passenger side cubby where the airbag might have been....I have a blank there, no airbag, and would much prefer that cubby, can you tell me where I can get on that'll fit? And as a matter of interest, I was so worried that I'd someday have to have a nondescript black hood if my salt and pepper one ever wore out, that I bought what I was told was the last full salt and pepper hood that they had in stock from BAS who supplied them to the factory, it so sits waiting and ready for when it's needed, although so far the original one is still in great condition! Cheers

Search Eric Adderley on Facebook, probably on a mgtf page like the mgf register and you should find him, he's the guy who makes them. There is a channel on here called the mgtf, he has fitted one, dash pocket cubby. Thanks.

I’m really glad that the original cars had a chance to be gradually developed by the factory and enjoyed a decent production run of ten years or so - it makes ownership today a much easier prospect with so many enthusiasts, parts suppliers and upgraded parts available for those that like to modify, as well as a good variety of models to choose from and plenty left on the roads. Personally I prefer the MGF’s retro-modern looks and unique hydragas ride and handling, and I think they are where the real bargains are right now too - I recently found a lovely Mk2 (X-reg 2000) in completely original condition from a specialist dealer, no rust at all, new headgasket and cam belt, great hood, unused spare and toolkit, just 46,000 miles… for 2.5k. You can still get a great one privately for less, just ignore the sub-£1000 rotters, it’s pointless not to buy a good one at current values and will be far more expensive in the long run. For some genuine driving pleasure, a good measure of practicality and a very good chance of owning an appreciating modern classic, there’s no better choice for a British car enthusiast. It’s a feel-good car and as Paul says, the low-tech simplicity is a joy too.

Interesting video, tnx. But who on earth would put the bonnet catch in the boot ffsake. Put it near the driver's seat, like every other manufacturer on the planet And no way to open the boot lid without the key? Jesus Christ, that's 100yr old technology to make it either a push button and key operated. I do love the styling though, still very cool
