- The term Barndominium didn't even exist when we completed this project. We are still so happy with the charm of this barn and are happy that there is a full living quarters available to make it cozy for our customer.

Stables are just bad for horses, which were never meant to live indoors. Before you spend a lot of money on a barn for yourself, do a little research and consider what's best for your animals.
how can you have horses on your property and not have a storm shelter....not an open shed...asking for a friend who only has 30 years experience
@@keithadams812 My three horses have a shelter with three sides and a decent roof that faces away from prevailing winds. It cost $4000 and I built it myself. There are no doors, and everyone is free to come and go as desired; interestingly, they often prefer to remain out, even in the snow, but they dry off quickly and always have the option of coming out of the weather. But I keep an eye on them during bad weather, and have to assume they know what they're doing. Stables are like prison--a throwback from the days when we thought horses should be treated like people. This is wrong. Owners shouldn't just keep doing things because that's the way it's always been done. Thanks to modern efforts, we know a lot more about horse husbandry than we did even 20 years ago. Well researched and documented empirical evidence indicates they do far better, both mentally and physically, on full-time turnout with a decent, optional-use shelter.
What if you own stallions?
@@goldenboygq9 Stallions need their own space and cannot intermingle. They need a 6' fence and should not be placed too close to mares. In general, no one should own equines unless they know what they're doing or can be mentored by others that do, but that's especially true when it comes to stallions. Other than that, no major changes. Strongly consider gelding them. There are waaay more horses than good homes and the last thing the world needs is more. Spoken from someone who has adopted 3 rescues that were apparently brought into the world by people unwilling to commit to caring for them for a normal 30 year lifespan.
@user-bx7nw1ve6y I would say you can't afford something like this and you are jealous of people who love their horses and can afford to spoil them.
