    I wish I could tell Dennis he is already a legend. He was already the Rock Star. He owes no one anything, and he has nothing left to prove. Im glad I was alive to hear his songs. They made the hair stand on my arms and, at times, brought a tear to my eye.

    Thanks to Dennis DeYoung, from someone who first heard of Styx at a very young age. I'm in my mid-forties, so there are some good amount of us who are a bit younger, even younger than me. For example, I notice a girl on a couple of Styx FB pages who just entered college that is a Styx fan-and a Dennis DeYoung fan, mind you! Surely he must know that they do exist, those who don't fit the majority of 50-60-something + that have been exposed to Styx in their heyday or earlier. There are the Chicago fans who witnessed them first building a start as TW4, then subsequently becoming a band that got signed to Wooden Nickel and then being named Styx. Then there was the momentum building off of Lady being a late-blooming hit in Chicago as well as other areas popping up- even being recognized eventually in Canada with Equinox in '75. John Curulewski, departs and entering as his replacement- Tommy Shaw. As he pointed out the importance of radio airplay, and I'll even be considered blessed in having older siblings who brought Styx records or tapes into our midst. People my age, who when we were first getting exposed when we were still very young, and surely this younger generation, now, are getting exposed to Styx because of their parents. So, Dennis, your music contributions have trickled down pretty far! Within this country and abroad(across the Big Pond to British territory and no doubt beyond.

    He's 100% right but also, the real basis of the music industry were the live music circuits, when a bunch of grubby dudes could afford all the equipment and a small tour, find a manager and make a bit of money. You had to be at least a decent live act to get label interest so the quality was filtered up from there. Most truly talented musicians made it to at least some degree. It was just easier and cheaper to pull-off back then.

      Fact of the matter JY and Tommy hated hits like Lady and Babe, forget the millions it made them. You have 2 doors and 1 says Styx and the other door says Dennis DeYoung and the music of Styx. No comparison. I go see Dennis..

      @@jblcvahe should have settled for 'Dennis DeYoung & STYX'! Not Dennis DeYoung and the music of Styx! That's just my opinion. Or he should have fought harder and DESTROYED the band he started! Nowadays they are just plain STYNX!

    The Beatles did not invent the rock band. In fact, the Beatles were NOT a rock band until they met Dylan. They were a boy band. a pop band. Singing "I wanna hold your hand" and other bubble gum.

    • @stiffrichard2816
      @stiffrichard2816 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, but he meant all musical acts were all about a singer, a duo, a trio or a bigger harmonizing group all with a backing band behind them. Not a four-piece band who took turns singing. That was a new novel act, the Fab Four.

    Not a big fan of Dennis and he does sound like a sauerkraut but Tommy and JY need to do a reunion concert or tour with the current lineup. I've lost some respect for Tommy and JY as they haven't even made a tribute to EVH.

    Dennis, I love Your music, i'm 64 and Trump was the best President we have had. Now Biden cheated his way in and look what he has done to our Country. So the funny hair thing does not work for me, but your music is great. Just my opinion.

      @Fk TH-cam You gotta be a young dude, you rant like one and make no sense. Ill debate you on how good the Country was with Trump verse your Biden commie. You would get smoked. You have nothing to brag about, gas high, house's forget it, open borders, left 3/4 Billions of dollars worth of weapons to the Taliban, child traffic, no drilling, Ukraine War 100 billion to them. Im getting tired of how your Guy is a Traitor and his Kid. Enough said, do some research and not on The View or CNN, LOL.
