OMG, Todd, what a classy interview and yes, I'm one that bought your CD! Well done, and you are right, you leave us feeling like we're a part of your family known as Styx. I've done the meet and greet, and I had so much fun with you guys! Classy guys, classy band and all around just wonderful human beings to be even near to.

Great interview, just wish you would have asked him about the late John Panozzo and what it's been like for Todd putting his spin on the classic songs - because they are both very good drummers but their style of play is fairly different. All in all, Todd's done a nice job and I appreciate him as John's successor.

What a great interview. 100% agree with you on wooden nickel songs. So much there that is so good and underrated. Man of miracles, A song for Suzanne, rock n roll feeling, movement of the common man; earl of roseland; and then post wooden nickel songs such as ballerina, born for adventure and shooz. I love it all but as I age I like listening to the hard prog songs. My favorite band easily.

The Mission is easily one of my favorite Styx albums and it's one of really 3 that I still come back to today. The other two being Pieces of Eight and Grand Illusion. Every track is awesome and it feels like a real progression for the band. Red Storm, Locomotive, Mission to Mars, Hundred Million Miles From Home, The Outpost, Khedive, it's just hit after hit! I hope the new one is a worthy follow up, very happy to hear that it leans in that progressive direction, as those tend to be my favorite songs from the band.

There isn't a bad song on this CD! I ordered another one as I know I'm going to play the one I got when they had a special promotion ($86.00 I beiieve) to death. LOL I was smart and ordered two special promotions with COTC.

Great interview Pete! I am a drummer (as many years as Todd, but not even on the same planet skill wise) and Todd is one of my favorites. He’s a great ambassador of the drums and just a down to earth guy that loves what he’s doing and speaks passionately about it. I also loved your interview with Carmine Appice...so I guess I am saying more drummers, please :)

Great interview, Pete. I'm not the biggest Styx fan but I definitely enjoy some of their stuff. And some band members could learn a thing or two from Todd. I'm not going to mention any names but you know who you are! And no I'm not talking about any former or current members of Styx. I've never met any of those guys. I'm just acknowledging what Todd is saying because I have met band members that just don't have the time of day for you and/or have a piss off attitude and they can't even say hi. Thankfully there has only been a handful of those occasions for me.
And yeah, I get that everyone has bad days so I'm not even including one time meetings. I'm talking about where I've met band members more than once and they were just crappy to me and/or my friends at shows. I never really took it personally though because you never know what issues someone is going through. But it does kind of bother you when it's like that every time you meet them. But whatever.
Anyway, sorry for the long ass rant! It was cool to hear from Todd and it was nice to hear his perspective on so many things. He's definitely a guy to have a beer with. Thanks, Pete.

Wow, Pete, after Rob Halford and Styx, I'm wondering who's next on your guest list? I know it's a touchy subject but thanks for asking about Dennis (like Halford with KK), even after seeing or reading so many interviews through the years and that infamous Behind The Music show, this was the first time I ever heard about some of the "other" issues like the Chicago/L.A. commute. It's usually all about "Babe" and "Kilroy." Another great interview!

Seems like a nice guy and I’m sure a very talented drummer. But for me the classic line up is Styx, Todd plays in the Tommy Shaw and James Young band it’s not Styx. I wish him luck with his solo project and I’ll stick with my memories of seeing the classic lineup in the front row at the Philadelphia Spectrum at the height of their fame with April Wine opening an unforgettable night.
